This gorgeous "Glamping" teepee is located on a working Colorado Horse Ranch. The 20 ft Teepee is pitched next to a live creek that flows trough the picturesque property and sits on a elevated wood deck. The interior is beautifully furnished with a queen sized bed, fire pit, coffee maker, small gas grill and electric lanterns for light. Other items are provided to make your experience comfortable, relaxing and memorable.

The space
DEKO Ranch is located just a short drive from the airport and and approximately 35 minutes from downtown Denver. Upon arrival you will drive by the pastures and pens that are home to many of the resident horses on the property. Please keep speed limited to 10 mph down the driveway and 5mph around/past the barn. During your trip make sure you take the opportunity to check out the Keenesburg Wild Animal Sanctuary just a few miles away. If you're lucky you might even hear the lions and tigers that live at the Sanctuary calling for their breakfast in the morning.

Many of the comforts of home are provided for your "Glamping" experience but please make sure you are prepared to stay in the great outdoors. We encourage bringing extra blankets, bug spray, warm clothes, flash lights, drinking water and other items you might need to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Please be aware of the weather and plan to dress accordingly. The gas fire pit in the teepee does provide a small amount of heat and please know it's for lookin not cookin. An outdoor fire pit with firewood is located next to the creek so you can roast your smores.

A clean portable toilet is located just a few steps from the teepee. Unfortunately there are no showers unless you are brave enough to jump in the creek or the cows water tank. If needed, potable water is available out of the spigots located at the corners of the horse pens.

Guest access
Guest are welcome to explore the property and a map with the boundaries is included in the listing. Please respect the fact that we are a working ranch. We ask that you keep gates closed and don't get into the horse pens. Most of the horses are friendly but please don't touch or feed the horses. Make sure you say hello to Kirby the fainting goat, our pet bull Deuce, and the flock of chickens might follow around too!

Other things to note
Stay entertained during the day with our unique neighbors. Colorado Clays is close by for shooting ranging sporting clays. Keenesburg Wild Animal Sanctuary the world’s largest carnivore sanctuary, is just around the corner. The DeKo Ranch is easy to get to with close access to Denver International Airport

DeKo Ranch, previously known as Clappsaddle Farms, was bought by Ted DeKowzan in 2016. Ted purchased the ranch from Wilbur Flachman, a retired newspaper/magazine publisher also known to his friends as Bufford T. Clappsaddle. You will still find Wilbur on the Ranch as he continues to board 20 of his Pack Horses there. Ted DeKowzan was born and raised in Colorado. From a young age, he always had a love for animals and the western lifestyle. Growing up Ted would help on his grandfather’s ranch where he gained respect for the land and open space. During high school Ted would spend his summers working on a ranch in Elizabeth, CO. Part of his job responsibilities was to wrap the steer’s horns for others to rope. Rather than leaving at the end of his day Ted convinced the ranch owner and his friends to teach him to team rope. He was immediately hooked and roping had now become a lifelong hobby. Unfortunately, roping took a backseat while Ted attended college at the Colorado School of Mines. While attending college he managed a horse boarding facility. Ted was likely the only CSM student who would arrive to tests in overalls after a morning spent mucking stalls. Upon graduation Ted was desperate to become reacquainted with his true passion of team roping and immediately began competing again. Owning a ranch and a roping facility had become a lifelong dream where he could share his passion with new and old friends alike. Ted is very excited for the opportunity to share his passion with others and for the future of DeKo Ranch.
