We are back in the cold and missing Playas de Coco badly. Isabella, Julio and the girls made our trip totally delightful. The little house is sublime, immaculate a serene, but the sweetness of the family is beyond. Isabelle and Julio were so helpful and enthusiastic, they seemed to derive as much fun from our activities as we did. We travelled about the area quite a bit in our week there, looking at other beach towns and resorts, but concluded that Isabella's was the best we could have imagined, a short walk to the waterfront and all its bars and restaurants, but far enough away to enjoy the beautiful garden, its birds and iguanas... close to Ocatel, a quieter beach, but the town itself is a rare mix of tourism and an authentic local community, way more interesting than Tamarindo for instance. It was a pleasure talking with our hosts each day and running into them around town on occasion. All in all, this is exactly what I hope for from AirBnB experiences, a chance to see a place from a local perspective.
Isabelle and Julio and their daughters are incredibly lovely people. They went far out of their way to accommodate us and our toddler, who still misses and asks for them. The rental house is clean, cool and well-kept, with all the accouterments needed for a relaxing stay. There is a beautiful pool and grounds, and it is a 5 minute walk to the supermarkets, restaurants and bars of Coco. This means that it's close to the main road, so there is some traffic noise, but if you are looking for a base for exploring the beaches and sights of Guanacaste it is a gem. Highly recommended.
