A 2000 sqft adobe on 2 acre lot of southwest native garden. 2bedrooms/2 baths; large openspace kitchen-living area. Sunroom and portal for viewing sunsets, mountains and Pueblo lands. Although very private and immersed in nature, located very near to town center (Plaza)
My husband and I loved staying at Gloria's house. The pictures don't
capture how beautiful the house is and peaceful the neighborhood is, though
you're only minutes away from downtown. The house is immaculately kept, and
located close to hiking trails that our dog adored. I hope we can stay
I was wondrously surprised by the Fernandez Hideaway. From my first view to my last day, it delivered more than promised. Nestled in the hills above Taos, the home was beautifully designed and tastefully furnished. Relaxing on the spacious veranda, watching the sun go down, I could not help but be impressed by this location. Away from the bustle of the city center, the sounds and smells of nature are ever present. There are ample opportunities for walking and bicycling right out the front door. The kitchen is arranged for the serious gourmet chef and features every conceivable appliance and tool. The baths were well constructed and the master bath offered an oversized tub for soaking. The vaulted ceilings made for a feeling of spaciousness. There are two fireplaces, although we did not try them, they promise cheeriness on colder nights. All in all, this is a wonderful retreat for the writer, artist, philosopher, or anyone wanting to relax and get away from it all without sacrificing comfort and convenience. I would highly recommend this lodging.
We loved staying at Gloria's adobe. It was so private and quiet, yet close to Ranchos de Taos and Taos both. We would love to stay with Gloria again. It is a beautiful specimen of architecture.
Despite living as an American ex-pat in Italy, Gloria was quick to respond and warmly accommodating to all of our needs. This Taos home is clean, elegant, and classic. There are no-frills and the space is refreshingly un-cluttered with personal 'stuff' – just what we wanted for our 3 day study retreat.
We enjoyed dinners on the portal with beautiful sunsets and bike rides in the mountains.
There was good privacy (provided we lowered the blinds over the master bed) despite the attached guest wing with a friendly full time tenant living there.
We had a relaxing, refreshing and enjoyable stay and would be happy to return.
This was a wonderful experience. The place is lovely and my interactions with the host and the caretakers were all very pleasant. I plan to return.
Gloria's home was absolutely perfect for my writing retreat. Communication with her was excellent and professional. The folks she has on coordinating things on the ground were the same. The house and grounds were everything I expected and exactly as described! Thanks for making this a great retreat!
I am a retired physical therapist who settled in Rome on way the way back from a Peace Corps "jaunt" in Africa in the early '70's. I'm a native Chicagoan, but after having lived abroad (Nairobi and Rome) for so long, Taos is the only place that makes me feel at home in the "States"- it's kind of a mix of both worlds. Love the New Mexican open spaces and the "light" and "color" of its high desert. Enjoy music(classical, jazz and more recently, blues). Like cooking (and eating) Italian, (east) Indian and Mexican food.
