Marcela met and greeted us - so friendly! The grounds are beautiful with a relatively quiet restaurant next door (there was one night with a dj while we were there, but even that wrapped up at 11pm). It's just across the street from beach access and a few minutes' walk from restaurants, grocery stores, surf shops, everything you could want. Be warned - Santa Teresa is *very* off the beaten path and requires a long, unpaved drive. Best to make the trip when you have several days to relax!
Only one of the two bedrooms has AC, the smaller room only has an oscillating fan.
Perfect food, drinks and friendly atmosphere in a cool design setting.
Sitting in the open air bar, grasshoppers singing in the evening as it quickly transcends from purple into a smooth darkness, landlord Rodrigo preparing the restaurant and bar decorations, putting out the pastel coloured lights and hooking up the portable loudspeaker to commence its’ soft calypso club beat filling the warm air. Sucking in the cold zest of the tropical fruit smoothie freshly made by Rodrigo II, the barman, always meeting up with the genuinely happy smile, Tobias! Pura Vida!
Alma Villa was perfect! Rodrigo and his family were lovely. He was very communicative, and nice. They were also all very helpful and fun to chat with. I would recommend them anytime!
Friendly stay in a well planned wooden house in the middle of Santa Teresa. Great location close to beach. Comfortable beds and an open-air kitchen. Quick reply from Rodrigo and a very nice calm vibe from the Alma bar and restaurant; not at all disturbing sleep although its vicinity. The site is planned in a very delicate way with the domes and wooden houses intermingled with a minimalistic bar and a very well maintained garden.
We are a small family with two kids ages 3 and 10 months. We heard so many great things about Santa Teresa so we were very excited to go for the first time. As a possible spot to relocate we set an intention to go and live, work and learn about the local community. Rodrigo and his family along with their beautiful villa provided so much more than we expected.
Rodrigo was there to greet us even though we had arrived around 11pm. He showed us around and introduced us to the other visitors enjoying food at the his family restaurant, Alma. We settled in quickly and spent the next week mingling with his kids, wife and employees. Everyone was very helpful, engaging and gracious as we speak very little Spanish.
The house was just the right size for our little family. We unexpectedly brought a friend who slept in the hammock on the deck each night and loved it. Even with a small baby we never felt that it was too loud or difficult to have our regular routine (which can be crazy sometimes). My 3 year old daughter loved playing with his kids and did her best to join them whenever whatever they were doing.
We relaxed, ate great food, explored the beach and local businesses and felt lucky to be able to do all of that while staying at The Alma Villas. Very simple living in a beautifully built place filled with a hard working , awesome family. Pura Vida!
