Dominique, Suisse.
This was our first experience renting with Airbnb. The entire rental process went well, our 11-day stay was great, and we are pleased with our choice.
Bernard greeted us at the Penthouse after our long 16-hour drive, and even supplied morning staples. He is very friendly, personable, and easy-going. He was very accommodating, understanding, and flexible with our travel times.
The Penthouse REALLY is spectacular, and is everything as pictured and described...even better in person. The Penthouse is very spacious, and you cannot beat the panoramic view that all the many windows and the wrap-around terrace have to offer. We never got sick of looking at the Manhattan skyline, any time of day or night...whenever we wanted, from the comfort of the Penthouse or its terrace.
Small local grocery marts, convenience stores, pharmacies, retail shoppes, and many restaurants are all within easy walking distance. We did not encounter a bad meal with the delicious local Latino cuisine. Particular favorites were the El Marinero on the corner (can make orders to-go), and Sal's Pizzaria with free delivery and a wide selection menu. The Chart House in Weehawken is a short easy drive by car, and offers plenty of free parking and wonderful unobstructed skyline city views via waterside seating. Amazing, and unique and tasty dishes and drinks. We found it to be the perfect restaurant to celebrate that extra-special occasion.
For those few meals that we did stay in for, we found the penthouse kitchen to be fully equipped.
NYC is easy access via public transportation, with the bus stop right on the corner one block away. Take either bus # 156 or 159 to NYC Port Authority, and from there to wherever you want to go.
We had several events and ceremonies in NYC to attend, and did it all via public transportation (bus & train). One bit of caution: allow an extra time buffer in your travel plans no matter what time of day you travel. We encountered the buses running 45 minutes late (at bus stop pick-ups) even after morning rush-hour. Vehicle traffic was heavy in NJ & NY throughout our entire stay.
The neighborhood and building is safe. Having a secure, assigned, covered parking in the garage provided great peace-of-mind. It was tricky and a tight fit with a mini-van, but very do-able.
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated everything that the Penthouse had to offer. We are extremely glad that we had the opportunity to stay at Bernard's spectacular Penthouse, and hopefully can stay there again when we return to the NJ/NYC area. The Penthouse made our stay and access to NY and NJ very pleasant, and made the memories of our stay and celebrations all that more special. :)

It was my first travel to NYC and my first experience of apartement rental using Airbnb.
I rented it for 6 days and 4 people (2 parents and 2 children)
I can warmly recommend Bernard's penthouse as a really very good choice, at a reasonable price considering that at least 4 people (or even more) can accomodate there.
Bernard was out of NYC when we arrived, so he called me before, to give me instructions, and his daughter Pascale was here to let us into the apartment and kindly provide the fridge for the breakfast of the following day.
The penthouse is exactly as described on airbnb and the photos give a good idea : large, comfortable, well equiped.
And above all : a GREAT view over Manhattan from the terrace. This was our first vision of Manhattan as we arrived at night directly from Newark airport, which is quite close from West New York.
A few words about the location : the apartment is located in West New York, which is in New Jersy, on the other side of Hudson River and can be reached by buses (lines 156 and 159), ticket is 3.20 USD.
The buses run every 20 minutes on the main avenue and reach NY Port Authority in about 30 minutes, depending on traffic.
West New York population is mainly latin-american, restaurants and shops can easily be found in the immediate surroundings.
The aera seems to be rather secure and we did not face any problem even late at night.
If I happen to go back to NYC, I will seriously consider going back to Bernard's appartment, if available

We spent our new year holiday in the NY/NJ area. It was an absolutey wonderful stay in this apartment. Bernard could not have been more accomadating. He was there to answer all of our questions and could not have made us feel more welcome upon our arrival. The flat is very spacious, the terrace is quite large. We were apprehensive at first as it is located in NJ, but after the trip I realized this location was absolutely perfect, 20 minutes to Times Square. We are planning a summer trip back to NY and without a shadow of a doubt we will try to rent out this gem of an apartment.
The Penthouse is huge and comfortable. It can be reached from New York easily by bus (156 and 159). Be aware that this Panthouse is not situated in New York but in West New York ( New Jersey) which is at short distance of Manhattan, just 15-20 minutes by bus driving under the Hudson River (Lincoln tunnel). During rush hours it could last some more time. The Penthouse wasn't very clean at our arrival unfortunately (cooker, bathroom, fridge, kitchen). The district is nice (many latino's are living there about 78%).
