Guest access

Private entrance - you won't disturb us!

Interaction with guests

Shawn and I both work from home, the dogs are always home. Please don't book with us if you are afraid of dogs.

The neighborhood

We live in South Seattle - our neighborhood is Rainier Beach. This is a very tight-knit, diverse community. We know every neighbor on our block and some have been here over 40 years.

One of Seattle's most beautiful parks, Kubota Gardens, is about eight blocks away. Seward Park, Columbia City and Georgetown are all fun neighborhoods close by.

There's a retail area (grocery store, restaurants, fast-food) less than one mile away, down the hill. Redwing Cafe is our favorite to walk to. There is very easy nearby access to I-5.

The sparkly brand new Rainier Beach Community Center down the street has a workout center, lap pool, lazy river, slide, hot tub and sauna. Truly amazing.

Check out the "Guidebook" to find lots of good places to visit.

Getting around

We are 17 min to downtown by car and 12 min from the Sea-Tac airport with Zero Traffic. But let's get real here, we are a major metro city - there is always traffic.

Easy and free street parking in front.

To go downtown, we often take the light rail. Uber is a great service.

FOR PUBLIC TRANSIT:
Bus route 106 is two blocks away and takes you to the Rainier Beach Light Rail Station. The 106 bus runs every 30 minutes and is the easiest bus from our house to the RAINIER BEACH LIGHT RAIL train station. The train goes from the airport to north Seattle at UW. The Rainier Beach Station is two stops from the airport and about 30 min from downtown.

If you need details about commute times by public transit, or by car, please research

King County Transit

using closest bus stop at Renton Ave S. and S. Ryan St. There is a map on this page to help with that also.

Other things to note

There is two dogs and an 11 year-old in the house. The old dog (Luna) is super sweet, but she will bark when she first meets you, as dogs do, treats will make her your best friend. Our new puppy (Cano) is very timid and will also bark when meeting strangers. Just ignore him if you're not used to dogs. We're still learning his temperament. The 11 year-old is a super helpful, wonderful kid. He rarely barks. Room mostly stays closed to dog, but of course cannot guarantee absence of animal hair :) The house is 111 years old and has loads of character, this is a nice way of saying you will hear some creaks when we walk.

Smoking outside only. Cannabis friendly, but outside please.

I grew up in Virginia Beach, met Shawn in Colorado and we moved here to Seattle to be close to his family while raising our son, Jackson. We love the outdoors, we really love our neighborhood, we know almost every family on the block and many more in the whole neighborhood. We love living in Seattle.

I am a massage therapist (book in advance for a massage during your stay!) and work from home. Shawn is a woodworker and works in the shop in the backyard, so we are mostly home all the time. The dogs are always home. We like to have friends over and many of our neighbors are our friends and come over for dinner on occasion, or pop in to borrow a tool from Shawn, there is sometimes kids over playing Legos or Nerf wars.

Most of our guests like that they have a private entrance and keep to themselves, we love hosting people because we've met such wonderful people from around the world.

Check in is at 4:00. You don't have to be here at 4, that's usually the earliest it will be ready.

We will often be able to meet you on arrival, however if we are not available, I can leave the back door open or we will leave a key. Please check your email after confirmation to get the "House Manual" which explains how to get into your room.
