This spacious and sunshiny 1500 square foot apartment is the entire top floor of a fully renovated two-unit building built in the 1800's nestled in the heart of Gowanus.

It is airy, bright, squeaky clean & just the right amount of quiet. Architectural details and quirky amenities are designed for elegant comfort and sophisticated ease. You'll be hard pressed to think of something you'll need & not have to make your stay an effortless one.

The space
Gorgeously appointed with high-end finishes, pressed tin walls and one-of-a-kind antiques, this airy apartment is bursting with character and old-world charm.

This quiet, 1500 square foot two bedroom has windows on both sides of the building, the rooms get both Northern AND Southern light streaming in throughout the day.

It will sleep 4 royally and up to 7 without much trouble at all. (8, if you’ve got a kid who can fit on the chaise!)

The living room has ample seating with a large, grey velvet sectional and a matching loveseat. Both fold-out into surprisingly comfy beds. (The secret is a memory-foam topper!)

Other features include: A very large flat screen television with a Roku (logged in to my HBO, Netflix and Hulu accounts), high speed internet, a wood-burning fireplace, a little office nook and a giant, Game of Thrones-y farm table that seats 8 for dinner.

The kitchen is huge by New York standards, has all-stainless steel appliances (including a dishwasher and a brand-new double-oven), granite countertops and cabinetry made from salvaged laboratory doors.

There’s a brand new coffee machine to whir you a fresh pot in the morning and a toaster/microwave to quickly heat up last night’s fancy-vacation-dinner leftovers.

A large dressing and laundry room houses a brand new, front loading washer and dryer and a vintage washing sink and way, WAY too much closet space.

There are two separate bedrooms on either side of the oversized laundry room, both with French doors that open up to the other rooms of the apartment. They both have queen sized beds with
extra-soft, luxury bedding, memory foam mattresses, down comforters and pillows and lots of comfy throw blankets ensure the soundest night sleep.

Hand-milled soap, fancy bath goods and generous towels will rinse off the day and keep you smelling sweet.

Guest access
You’ll have the entire third floor at their disposal.

Other things to note
The apartment is very big and spacious, but oddly configured...

The stairwell to the second floor is very...rustic. It has wide, original wood steps with hand rails and very old, sort-of run down pressed tin. We like to think of it as industrial Gowanus charm, but I could see someone less familiar with the ways of Brooklyn being surprised at how nice the apartment is based on the hallway alone.

This apartment is carefully appointed with nearly everything you’ll need to make your stay fun and easy. Unlike a lot of AirBnB’s, you won’t have to deal with anyone else’s clutter, but I do store some boxes locked away in the closets, so the laundry/dressing room is configured as a shared closet. It probably won’t impede your enjoyment of the space in any way, but I feel like I should mention it regardless.

Noise wise, we are 1 Block from the subway, around the bend from the very popular Royal Palms Shuffleboard Club, Ample Hills Ice Cream Parlor, A CitiBike station, Pig Beach and Dinosaur BBQ and the occasionally-open Mirror on The Lake Tea House...and while you are absolutely going to want to frequent these spots during your stay, you’re likely to hear some classical music from the tea house, a neighbor blasting top forty or a few revelers as they walk to the train/waiting for their car. Good news is, everything closes by midnight the latest on the weeknights and 2am on Friday/Saturday.

I've never noticed it personally, but it feels worth mentioning, just in case you're a light sleeper or are coming from a non-noisy place. #WelcomeToNewYork

The middle bedroom has a skylight that lets in the morning sun, and while there’s a chance that you’ll already be awake and ready to take on New York, I’ll leave you a coupla sleeping masks in the bedside table, just in case.

Odds are, I'll have someone checking out at 11 and the housekeeper working in the apartment between 11:30 and 3:30 to get it ready for your 4pm arrival, but if you get in early (or want to explore the city after check-out time) you are very welcome to stow your bags on the stairwell landing before hitting the streets!

PS: After having a few crummy experiences, I feel compelled to mention that I do not allow parties of any kind or more than 10 people in the space at any given time. My spot just isn’t set up for that sort of thing.#PartyPooper
