Comfortable and clean, with hardwood floors and lots of natural light.
Built in 1922, this home had large woodwork and hardwood floors. I have a pleasant single room available on the first floor adjacent to a bathroom. The owner's suite is upstairs so there is lots of privacy. The living room includes a huge television and comfortable furniture. I have one cat who is quite friendly but stays mostly upstairs. Off street parking. It is close to downtown, bus stops and freeway. I'm in the heart of The Ingersoll District which has many restaurants, stores and coffee shops within walking sistance.
The owner's bedroom is on the second floor. The guest has access to the entire first floor, including kitchen, deck and front porch (with porch swing).
Marcia is the best! She was not only a host, but also a great new friend! She was very accommodating and helpful to me and my project. Her airbnb place is sooo beautiful. It's like being a house maze: it never ends! So many things to see and nooks and crannies to explore; everything is meticulously curated and awesome music throughout the day from wake up time to dinner time :) Marcia is a very lively person and super fun to be around with. My bedroom was very private, including the half bath, there's a beautiful skylight that bathes the room in natural light. The bed was super soft and fluffy, like sleeping on clouds. I would definitely recommend Marcia's place to anyone exploring des moines! love love love her!
We have used airbnb a number of times and Marcia tops out list of favorite hosts! Her home is warm and inviting and the guest room is incredibly comfortable, with super soft sheets and an adjoining bathroom. We could not have been in better hands our first time in Des Moines - Marcia recommended great places to eat and see and provided spot-on directions. A big perk for Des Moines these days is that it now has Uber, and Marcia's home is within a quick $5 uber-x ride to everything downtown. And within walking distance of Marcia's place are a number of lovely neighborhood restaurants and shops. You're in great hands with Marcia!
Marcia , was a great host and very much enjoyed meeting her. The home was exactly as described and more than comfortable. It is a bit unusual that the shower is downstairs from the bedrooms but it all works well.
Marcia was a great host. She was gracious and friendly and even offered to pick me up from the airport. House and room were clean and welcoming. Great location in close proximity to college, grocery store, coffee shop and many fun places to eat.
I had a great time at Marcia's clean, stylish, convenient, comfortable and cozy home in Des Moines. Marcia was generous with her time, food, suggestions, and knowledge of Des Moines and surroundings. I'm hoping to keep up with Marcia as a friend, and I would definitely recommend her home as a place to stay!
This was a wonderful place to stay, and very conveniently located. Marcia was a very kind and helpful host, and I would recommend her to my friends.
The room was very quiet and extremely comfortable!
We stayed with Marcia on May 31,2014. Marcia is a friendly, well educated, world traveler with many interesting things to share. She is a warm gracious hostess. Her accomodations are extremely clean. You have much more space available beyond the bed&bath. She works very hard to make you feel at home. She has organized all the extra's if needed. We enjoyed sitting on her front porch in the AM. She is so close to downtown plus bus service available. We look forward to staying there again on our next trip to Des Moines,Ia. We highly recommend anyone using Airbnb to stay here. Joyce

Female architect in private practice and semi-retired. I travel out of the United States frequently. I've traveled through Western and Eastern European countries (mostly Germany and the DDR) and have a familiarity with the German language. More recently, I've focused on South America. My Spanish is certainly better than my German. I am a Latin dancer and have taught basic salsa.
I have a positive attitude towards life and embrace many cultures. You could call me a 'Cultural Junky".
Living in the Midwest, I crave seafood!I've had two Youth for Understanding foreign students live with me for a year each, and have been to their weddings in their countries. What an awesome experience. I remain great friends with them and their families still. On short term, I have hosted people visitng from Friendship Force, plus visiting dignitaries.
I throw fun parties.
