I had really good time at Maria´s place. Although I spent most of the time outside,I enjoyed talking with Maria when back. Good price-quality relationship. There are also plenty of restaurants and bars in the area. I´ll recommend it!
It was nice to stay with Maria. She is friendly, laid-back and willing to help in anything she can. We had fun sharing our stories!
Maria was an excellent host and her apartment is extremely well located within lower east side.
The location, Alphabet City, is close to lots of great cafes, restaurants, parks, etc. Maria's apartment is loaded with artifacts from her travels, but clean and interesting. Maria is great: friendly, welcoming, open-hearted. I guess from time to time, different rooms are available. The one I had was a good size, with a desk in it, and a sleeping loft, and for the first night it was fine. Second night, not so comfortable. Third night, I felt like I was sleeping on a bag of sand (sorry, Maria! Maybe I just don't have enough meat on my bones.) The loft was accessible by ladder, which felt a little treacherous in the middle of the night. All that being said, it was a great location for me. I was out and about all day, every day. The place could've been the Ritz and I wouldn't have stayed inside any more. And the price was right. I enjoyed my conversations with Maria, her roommates were accommodating. All in all I enjoyed my stay.
The apartment location is great if you need to be in lower part of Manhattan or around the Village. The area has many restaurants and clubs within few block walking distant from the apartment. The room is small but good for short term stay. Maria is a pleasant and social person. She is keen to provide her guests with hints about NYC and experience the city as a local rather than tourist.
I could write a book on Maria and the life i had in the apt! :)
I felt home from the very first time; the house is not big but is familiar and she has found the best way to organize the space so everybody can comfortably live together. I loved to stay there, i loved the room and the bed up i think is a great idea! But the most important thing, i think, is the ambient that u find and that Maria creates with everybody. All good people, nobody bothers you, she relates with u and is very kind and helpful! Is a person u can talk about everything, and an expert in natural and self healing. I stayed there for almost 2months and my mother who came visiting me in NY appreciated the place too! I will definitely come back there and either for short or long time i suggest you to stay there. The place is also very nice, is East Village, the heart of Manhattan a neighbor that i will always love :) the subway is a 5min walk far.
Hope you'll enjoy your time in NYC! <3
I rented a room at Maria's for my daughter who was moving to NY and she was very well received. Maria was vey friendly and always willing to provide help and information about the neighborhood and NY in general. The appartment is in one of the trendiest parts of the city, with lots of bars and restaurants near by. The only drawback was the distance to the nearest subway station: 15 min walking.
I would definitly recommend this place.
