We had a wonderful four night stay at this gorgeous bijou cabin. Ira and all the staff at the gallery and cafe were so friendly and gave us great tips for things to do. The setting is gorgeous in beautiful gardens, the private hot tub a real luxury after a hot day in the volcano national park. We'd recommend to anyone looking for a tranquil and back to nature base camp for their big island adventures ❤❤

This little cabin could not be better situated for visiting Volcanoes National Park. Only a short drive to the visitor's center. We cooked some meals in the cabin and ate once at the lovely, on site cafe. Also loved their very interesting art gallery and bought a few things there. It was nice having the garden all to ourselves after closing time. Great, spacious bathroom with a wonderful shower.

Ira's property, including the cottage, gardens, cafe and gallery, is lovely! We spent two nights in the cottage and were so happy to have access to everything Ira offers. We slept really well--the cottage is located on three quiet acres. Ira left fruit, banana bread, yogurt and coffee for us, which we enjoyed in the garden both mornings. The friendly staff showed us features of the garden, including a huge chameleon and the biggest pet bunny you've ever seen. The cafe serves up delicious and healthy food (try the quiche) and we did most of our souvenir shopping in the gallery. The cottage itself is well laid-out. It's small, but has everything two guests could need. The kitchen was sufficient for breakfast and coffee. A creative closet was big enough to hold our clothes and two robes for guests. The bathroom is beautiful and feels like you're showering in the jungle! My favorite part of the space is the natural light. No need to turn lights on during the day! The outdoor hot tub was a welcome treat at the end of a long day hiking around Kilauea. Ira's spot is 5 minutes from the park entrance and just a few minutes from dinner restaurants. He recommended Thai Thai and we went and had a great meal! We had a wonderful stay in the cottage and I can't recommend it highly enough. Ira is a great host, the property is ideally located and quiet, and the little cottage is sweet and comfortable.

Despite being a studio, this place had everything you need and more. The hot tub was a really nice addition -- especially because it can get surprisingly cold in this area of the island at night!

The cottage at Volcano Garden Arts is just lovely. To get to the cottage you walk down a garden path lined by fragrant plants. The place is cozy. There is a hot tub to relax tired legs after long hikes in Volcano NP. There are tasty restaurants for dinner just down the road.

We had a magical 3 days exploring the island. We always looked forward to returning to the cabin and hot tub after a long day! The location was perfect for us because we wanted to check out the volcano natl park as well as explore the lower parts of the island. It was easy driving up and down the mountain, we were surprised that it was a straight, well marked road that took us up 4000 ft. It was hot and muggy in HILO, it was a relief to get back up to our retreat and the 15 C temps at night. Best of blessings to you Ira, we hope to see you again sometime.

We arrived late in the evening to the cottage - but everything was spelled out and clear in the instructions Ira provided for us to get into the cottage after hours. It was so nice to have breakfast, coffee, and teas available in the cottage for our early morning the next day. There was a small loaf of pumpkin bread, fruit, yogurt, and some granola. The place itself is quaint, a nice size for a couple to stay in. It is a convenient location to Volcano National Park and Volcano Town. It gets chilly at night, but there is a heating blanket and small heater in the cottage that help. There were a number of small touches that were very convenient, such as umbrellas, flashlights, slippers, shampoo/soap, and bath robes!

Aloha, I'm a full-time artist living in Hawaii for over 40 years. My inspiration comes from waking up to native birdsong in a rainforest on the mountaintop of Kilauea Volcano.
