Description

The Space

Our April Special is $114 per night with 2 night minimum. Volcano Artist Cottage is a newly restored romantic, one bedroom redwood vacation rental set on a lush 3-acre artist's estate in Volcano Village just 2 miles for Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.

Our cottage offers a fully equipped kitchenette, Zen bathroom, beautifully lit skylights, a propane heater for cool Volcano nights and a private hot tub.

Amenities include cable TV, wireless Internet access and fresh Island fruit, cereals, Kona coffee and gourmet teas.

Guests receive a 10% discount at the gallery & Cafe Ono.

Guest Access

Private parking space and gate entrance. Almost 3 acres of historic gardens to explore. Don't miss the tree sanctuary at the end of the main parking lot, a room made of living trees planted 80 years ago!

Interaction with Guests

Come and go as you please. We hope you have time to meet us in the gallery or cafe but your privacy will be respected. After we close you will have the grounds to yourself and Ernest the Goat (in his own enclosure of course).

The Neighborhood

Very quiet village at night. Most eating places are closed by 9pm. There are 2 small stores and gas stations, a hardware/general store and post office. Don't miss the Sunday Farmers Market from 6am till 10am at Cooper Center on Wright Road. Get there early!

Getting Around

There are buses that run to Hilo and back but very limited and they DO NOT go to the airports. Rental cars are the only way to go unless you feel like hitch-hiking (not such a good idea).

Other Things to Note

Nights can be chilly here at 4000 feet, bring long sleeve sweater, socks, shoes. Go see the glowing volcano at night but dress warm, it can get windy up at the crater. Don't worry, your room has a heater and electric blanket.

Aloha, I'm a full-time artist living in Hawaii for over 40 years. My inspiration comes from waking up to native birdsong in a rainforest on the mountaintop of Kilauea Volcano.
