This was our second stay in this cottage, it's been upgraded since our first stay with a hot tub so you can warm up and relax on chilly evenings. The cottage itself is small but cozy, and the zen bathroom is great! (The shower is massive, my only complaint is the toilet is too small for a guy). The gardens are beautiful and replete with critters. Ask the groundskeeper if he can find the chameleon "Herman" and let you hold him! And pet the giant rabbit. Ira provides fruit at your table in the cottage, and when you want a bigger meal there is the excellent Cafe Ono on the property, with vegan and gluten free breakfast and lunch options. This is about as happening a place as you can get in the sleepy town of Volcano! And it's only minutes from the entrance to Volcanoes National Park. Stay here and you'll love it!

We truly enjoyed the enchanting grounds at this cottage; loved our stay and cannot wait to return. This is a peaceful oasis. Unique. Beautiful.Ira's artistic touches abound and we did it need for anything-- coffee, many teas, books, flashlights, nice toiletries, robes, slippers, fruits and chocolates. Bliss.

Nice, comfortable, and convenient with bonus hot tub. Host, Ira, thought of everything and made sure we had a great time. Would recommend to anybody visiting the national park.

Location is great, the place is very beautiful, they welcome you with a delicious banana bread. The only thing we were not very happy about is that we found some spider webs and the towels are a little old. But it's a great place.

This little cabin could not be better situated for visiting Volcanoes National Park. Only a short drive to the visitor's center. We cooked some meals in the cabin and ate once at the lovely, on site cafe. Also loved their very interesting art gallery and bought a few things there. It was nice having the garden all to ourselves after closing time. Great, spacious bathroom with a wonderful shower.

Ira's property, including the cottage, gardens, cafe and gallery, is lovely! We spent two nights in the cottage and were so happy to have access to everything Ira offers. We slept really well--the cottage is located on three quiet acres. Ira left fruit, banana bread, yogurt and coffee for us, which we enjoyed in the garden both mornings. The friendly staff showed us features of the garden, including a huge chameleon and the biggest pet bunny you've ever seen. The cafe serves up delicious and healthy food (try the quiche) and we did most of our souvenir shopping in the gallery. The cottage itself is well laid-out. It's small, but has everything two guests could need. The kitchen was sufficient for breakfast and coffee. A creative closet was big enough to hold our clothes and two robes for guests. The bathroom is beautiful and feels like you're showering in the jungle! My favorite part of the space is the natural light. No need to turn lights on during the day! The outdoor hot tub was a welcome treat at the end of a long day hiking around Kilauea. Ira's spot is 5 minutes from the park entrance and just a few minutes from dinner restaurants. He recommended Thai Thai and we went and had a great meal! We had a wonderful stay in the cottage and I can't recommend it highly enough. Ira is a great host, the property is ideally located and quiet, and the little cottage is sweet and comfortable.

Despite being a studio, this place had everything you need and more. The hot tub was a really nice addition -- especially because it can get surprisingly cold in this area of the island at night!

Aloha, I'm a full-time artist living in Hawaii for over 40 years. My inspiration comes from waking up to native birdsong in a rainforest on the mountaintop of Kilauea Volcano.
