Beautifully updated studio with antler chandelier, vaulted ceiling, small kitchen, covered patio with your own gas grill, mountain views, table and chairs. Cozy interior with new queen bed, leather love-seat, and new carpet. The Bunkhouse at Old Man Mountain has only 3 units in one building - with private entrances and patios. Centrally located; just a 10 minute stroll, along the Fall River, to downtown Estes Park. A beautiful one acre property 3 miles to the Fall River entrance of Rocky.

The space

Efficient well designed space for 1 or 2 guests. This is not a large unit.
It is a cozy (380 sq. ft.) studio suite, with contemporary / western decor. Recent upgrades include new carpet, queen bed, and a saddle leather love seat. The kitchen has a 2 burner stove top (no oven), a microwave, small refrigerator, kitchen sink, coffee maker, toaster, pots/pans, dishes, crock pot, and your own infrared gas grill on the covered patio. The summer patio has flowers, water feature, views and visiting wildlife. The Bunkhouse sits on a rock bluff high above Elkhorn Ave., the main street through downtown. It is less than a mile to downtown - peak season there is some road noise as cars drive into the park. It is across the street from the Fall river, Old Man Mountain, and you can also hike into the national park.
The cozy studio has a vaulted ceiling, antler chandelier over the dining table, flat screen TV (Showtime), free dependable WiFi, leather dining chairs, large closet & built-in dressers. There is a tiled bathroom with walk-in shower.
This is one of three attached vacation units at "The Bunkhouse at Old Man Mountain". It is family owned and operated; we are not a large condo complex. If you require more space .. a living room with larger sofa, recliner, coffee table, please see our 2 other listings on this site, and on the other major vacation rental sites.

Interaction with guests

I will answer all your reservation questions by email. Brian, my brother, is the onsite manager. He will meet you with the keys and answer all your questions at the cabin. He can recommend restaurants, hikes, events, & favorite excursions in the park. The "Welcome Book" inside the unit has many of our best recommendations. We also have hiking books and 24 hour on call maintenance.

Other things to note

This studio suite is one of three units available at the Bunkhouse at Old Man Mountain. All three units have private entrances, kitchens, patios / decks. Rent only what you need: studio 1 sleeps 2; studio 2 sleeps 2-3, 1+ bedroom sleeps 4. Great for family & friend gatherings; all 3 units sleep 8-9 guests.

We absolutely loved staying at the Bunkhouse. It was private and secluded but also within walking distance to town and quick and easy access to RMNP. We loved how quiet it was and it provided a great opportunity to relax and soak in the peaceful atmosphere after long days in the park. The Bunkhouse was great and Denice and Brian were so responsive and attentive to every detail from biscotti in coffee cups to maps for the park and local attractions. Great!

We loved our stay at the Bunkhouse and look forward to our return. It's in a great location, about 4 miles from the Fall River entrance and just a short walk to either the gold or red shuttle lines. You can't beat the view and it was situated away from the hustle and bustle of downtown. The cabin has everything you need for the weekend. All spices, cooking supplies, and linens were provided. There's even a washer and dryer if you're staying for an extended visit. The hosts were great! They were so easy to work with as far as when we were going to arrive on the shuttle from the airport and when we would need to check out.

We loved this charming place. The location could not be beat and we enjoyed seeing a doe visit the front porch! The bakery across the street is awesome if you love cinnamon and pecan rolls. Very close to Safeway, Starbucks, and RMNP park entrance where you can see a herd of elk hanging out, owning the place. The cabin had all the supplies you could ask for to cook a meal for two and great internet and cable. We will recommend to our friends!

We visited Estes and Rocky Mountain National Park during the high season. While Estes and the park were crazy busy, the Bunkhouse was quiet and removed from the hustle and bustle. The location was perfect to getting to almost anywhere in the park. While it is in walking distance to town, it seemed like a longer walk than expected. It wasn't a problem as we didn't spend much time in town and when we were there it was at off times so parking wasn't an issue. Check in was easy. The washer/dryer were a great perk. And we made use of the grill for meals. And even though there are 3 units in the bunkhouse, we never heard any of the other guests! The single unit provided everything we needed. Note that the kitchen is more of a kitchenette. Mini-fridge and 2 burner/sink unit combo. Adequate for a preparing simple meals a couple. The bed was VERY comfortable and the carpeting was the softest I've ever walked on! Lots of plugs for charging devices and a nice hutch provides places to put "stuff". The bathroom (toilet and shower) is small but the vanity is large and well-lit. Cinnamon's Bakery is across the street and yes people do get in line at 0700 even though they don't open until 0730. We liked our stay and would recommend it to others.

Denise and Brian have a fantastically located cabin (the bunkhouse). It's close to town and to RMNP. It's furnished with all the amenities (and then some) you might need and you'll find it spotless. Loved the availability of the washer/dryer too.

My wife and I had a wonderful vacation in Estes Park, and really appreciate that staying in the Bunkhouse at Old Man Mountain was part of it. We found the location easily due to excellent directions. Communication was clear, direct, and friendly from Denice and Brian. Brian was super responsive and laid-back when we contacted him to update our arrival time. He was right there to meet us when we got there. I appreciate that he was available AND completely unintrusive. We loved the sunsets, the gas grill, the bubbling fountain, the visits by the young stag mule deer, the hummingbirds, and the beautiful flowers. We were super close to the National Park and the location is perfect for launching in any direction. Although the unit is small, it is clean, well maintained, the bed is comfortable, and wifi works perfectly. The kitchen is basically furnished, and, although there is no oven, there is a really nice gas grill that we used almost every day!

Great location just minutes from RMNP. Although close to the road, rarely heard any traffic after hours. Great patio/deck to sit outside and enjoy a coffee in the morning or grill a steak at night. (Pastry shop "Cinnamon's" just a 3 minute walk away. The Danish they sell are just phenomenal. So popular you need to get there just after 7:00am, get in line as they open at 7:30a.) Then walk back up to the bungalow, enjoy the Danish, a cup of coffee and wait for the elk and deer to walk right through the front yard. (Which they did.) And as advertised, walking distance to Estes. Compact, but functional. Pretty much two guests max. No oven, so be prepared to cook on a range-top or on the gas grill, but they supply all of the cooking utensils you might need. Small undercounter fridge, but frankly it's larger than it looks. Picked-up a small Styro cooler for extra wine, mixers and ice. The onsite manager, Brian is super responsive. Literally just minutes away after a text or phone call. Never heard a sound from the other guests. I'm a biker, so I'm used to minimalist traveling. Could have traveled even lighter because there is a great laundry room, all complimentary. For folks who spend their days outside seeing the sites, hiking, biking and don't need a lot of hotel type amenities (Copiers, restaurants, pools, etc.) this is a perfect spot.

Hi I'm Denice. My siblings & I own the Bunkhouse at Old Man - it has been our family home since the 1980's. Our Dad, an architect, remodeled an antique shop into 3 separate vacation suites. We have two small studio suites and a 1 bedroom - with a Murphy bed off the living room. They can be rented alone or together. It has been a wonderful gathering spot for family and friends.

The Bunkhouse can accommodate 9 guests in the 3 units. We have been renting The Bunkhouse at Old Man Mountain since 2011, we are listed on the major vacation rental sites. Check out all our units - named after the mountains viewed from the windows - Castle Mtn., Old Man Mtn., & Twin Sisters Mtn. Read our 5 star reviews on all our sites. We are privately owned and operated.

We love our secluded 1 acre property - it's close to town, world class hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park, and all the wildlife. We enjoy hosting guests and meeting people from around the world. We hope to see you soon!
