Great location steps to Trout Lake park, short walk to Commercial Drive's cafes and shops.
Trout Lake hosts a local farmers market every Saturday, all summer long.
The park is an unexpected oasis for such a central location,
Close to transit, (7 minute walk to skytrain) quiet, private yard, all the usual perks, internet, laundry, flatscreen with cable....no dishwasher though...can't have it all !
Lots of parking

"Trout Lake Haven" met our expectations from the Airbnb listing. Our stay in Vancouver was easy thanks to Paul. We arrived later in the night than expected without a fuss from our host regarding check in time. We also enjoyed walking through the park conveniently located across the street. Free WiFi enabled us to settle our travel plans for our stay. Three of us ended up renting both bedrooms (for $130) with one person sleeping on the couch.
We called Paul at the last minute and requested the room. He responded very quickly and was very gracious about accommodating our last minute request. A cozy garden-level space with a cozy little kitchen. It was a nice place to rest.
We're sad we didn't get a chance to visit the nearby lake! It looked to be quite calm and beautiful.
Great as always!
Perfect location, clean and nice house!
The house was not so easy to find, as when we emerged from the Skytrain at Nanaimo station, we had no idea which way we were facing, and couldn't see street signs clearly in the dark.
We had to ask directions from some helpful RCMP officers, and still got it wrong.
The house was very clean and tidy, and our room was very comfortable. Other guests were very convivial.
We were made most welcome by Paul and other guests, who offered useful advice on best places to visit and eat.
Paul provided maps, advice, basic food, and other helpful materials.
- Laundry facilities were available.
- Directions to the house from the Nanaimo skytrain station could have been a little clearer.
Visitors arriving after dark when street signs may be unclear, may have no idea which way they are facing on leaving the station, or whether the station has more than one exit. We were also carrying fairly heavy backpacks.

We stayed at Pauls for one week and everything was nice and clean when we arrived. Unfortunately Paul wasn't there at the time, but the other couple that lived there was really nice and helpful. Everything we needed was there, we enjoyed our stay.
We definitely recommend this!
We had a great stay at Paul's place. Paul wasn't around but we shared the suite with another friendly couple. The location is beautiful, right across the street from beautiful trout lake park, and a short walk to the sky train. We spent most of our time on commercial drive (one sky train stop away) checking out neat pubs :) The suite is great, we would totally stay there again!
Paul was a really good host. Very helpful and nice. And the place had a cool holiday vibe :)
We arrived at Paul's place in the dark. The cab driver had some difficulties finding the house number. Paul was friendly and greeted us when we arrived. The bigger room was comfortable and peaceful. The other room was occupied too so we shared the kitchen, lounge and bathroom with two others, which was no problem. We easily found the Nanaimo sky train station. There's a cozy back yard as well. I just wish we could have stayed a bit longer! I would gladly stay at Paul's place again when back in Vancouver.
