UNBELIEVABLE!!!! My wife and I are about to leave Nick's beautiful home and what a fantastic time we had! Nick is a great guy and was very attentive to anything we needed. The house is in the perfect location and this is an amazing place to vacation. We were just talking yesterday about bringing our kids back for a week in the winter and I would not stay anywhere else. Nick's house has every amenity you could possible want. It is clean, updated and we did not have any bugs at all. You can't beat how easily you can access the beach and then quickly retreat back to the house out of the Tamarindo heat if need be. Tamarindo itself was an awesome town with lots of great food and fun. I would recommend the beach club just 150 yards down the beach from Nicks house and the Falafel Bar just inside town. They both had great food.
Only recommendations for first time travelers. 1. Don't rent a car at the airport. Take Nick up on arranging transfers. We would have been better served to rent cars on a a daily basis from town if needed. 2. Bring lots of sunscreen. Very expensive here and not a great selection.
Other than that. I would highly recommend you stay at Nick's home. It was one of the greatest vacations we have had. Should have stayed longer.
My boyfriend and our friends had an amazing time at Casa Palmas! Nick is a great host, very warm and welcoming. We immediately felt right at home and hit the beach. The house is very clean with no bugs, cob-webs, or dust. The daily cleaning lady is polite and does a great job keeping the house clean. It was great to have her come daily, it helped us stay organized and enjoy the house even more. We loved being able to walk right outside to hit the beach everyday. Nick was extremely responsive if we had any questions, and we even went to watch him play in his band one night in town- we had a blast.
The house is an easy 15 minute walk to town either along the beach or on the roads to town. Overall we felt safe walking around at night, but I would definitely recommend always paying attention to your surroundings and keeping a close eye on your stuff. The best part about the house was the families of monkeys in the trees everyday. We saw more monkeys at our house then in the jungle or anywhere else in Costa Rica! TIPS: Bring bug spray and bring a flashlight or two!
Nick made us feel very welcome and at home, took care of all airport transfers to/from the airport, and helped us with an AMAZING surf instructor (Alejandro from Seafari was awesome!) Very clean, safe, and well-attended to house just steps from the beach. This particular beach is very quiet, but just minutes away from the action (or even quieter beaches, if you walk the opposite way). The pictures are exactly how it's described, the perfect location for Tamarindo. Maybe a 5-10 minute walk to the happening restaurants and bars in Tamarindo, but as another guest may have mentioned, our favorite spot was just right on the back patio with a beer.
We just returned from Tamarindo after staying in Casa Palmas for one week.
The house is beautiful and 'as advertised'. Steps from the beach and contained all the necessary amenties. We had a little trouble finding the place, but Nick responded promptly by phone and met us in town and we followed him to the house.
The house was very clean and working properly. Nick spent about half an hour going through all the features of the house. it contained everything we needed to stay comfortably, and we were given many recommendations of both places to eat and things to somewhere we were there.
The house is right on the beach, at the quieter western edge of Tamarindo , and we were able to walk to restaurants along the beach.
My family had a very enjoyable and relaxing time at this property, and would not hesitate to return to exactly this spot for another vacation.
