About This Listing
Charming, sunny backyard garden cottage located halfway between Cooper Young and Overton Square. Queen bed, kitchenette with small appliances including refrigerator, microwave, tabletop oven, and Keurig. Quiet and private. Street parking. Sleeps two.
The cottage is a converted garage located in the backyard of the main house, which was built in 1905. The yard is fully fenced in and the garden is beautiful when in bloom.
Guests will have private access to the cottage, which is fully separate from the main house. The garden is free for you and your pets to enjoy.
Midtown is the best part of Memphis! Otherlands Coffee Shop is just across the street and Easy Way produce market is a block away.
There is a MATA bus stop at the corner which is serviced by routes 2 (which goes from the North End Terminal downtown to the airport) and 5 (North End Terminal to University of Memphis).
Other Things to Note
For weekends during May we require at least a two night stay.
This was a great little place to stay. Easy driving distance to downtown where there is lots of reasonably priced parking. We also used Uber which was very cheap and efficient. The garden flat was very well equipped and very comfortable. Best thing about it though was the coffee shop literally 1 minute away called Otherlands. Had breakfast there every morning before setting out. Very casual laidback atmosphere. Would definitely recommend this to anyone for a visit to Memphis.
The Midtown Garden Cottage is super cute and in a great location. It is only two blocks away from a coffee shop, and it is walking distance to a delicious vegan restaurant. It is also a quick Uber ride to downtown and all the museums in Memphis. It is very clean, and I loved the shower! Just to note…the cottage is fairly close to the airport and planes fly over, so if you are a light sleeper, just keep that in mind. Martha was very accommodating to our check-in time, which was greatly appreciated.
We thoroughly enjoyed Martha and Glenn's garden cottage and highly recommend it as the perfect spot to stay while visiting Memphis. The cottage is a beautiful space situated in a lovely garden. The hosts thoughtfully left cool drinks in the refrigerator and fresh flowers on the table. They also left a very helpful book that included a list of restaurants and other useful information. The cottage is located in the Cooper Young Historic District of Memphis, which is full of interesting restaurants and shops. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would definitely stay here again if visiting Memphis.
Such a cute little place! Clean, adorable, just the right amenities (towels, fridge, mugs, electric kettle, etc.) We really enjoyed the place and admired what they have done with the space! It was private and quiet and just lovely! Close enough to downtown and easy to get almost anywhere in and around Memphis. They left a lovely book with notes about the house, including menus and maps and cards for cab companies. Such a nice place!
The cottage was so great! The convenience of the location was primarily why we chose it, but it was one of my favorite places we've stayed in. We didn't have much interaction with the hosts, but in all correspondence, they were quick and accommodating, even when we needed an iron. You will not be disappointed staying here, for sure. The Cooper Young area is my favorite in Memphis with several bars, restaurants, and shops just down a few blocks. If you have a car, the rest of Memphis is easy to get to as well. We really enjoyed our stay here! Having coffee in the morning was definitely a plus and I'm pretty certain the bed had one of the softest blankets I've ever experienced. All around, excellent place!
We had an absolutely wonderful time. The location was perfect the space was comfortable and cozy and the shower was awesome.
Would positively stay there again!
