Large Georgian house in a secluded corner of St Leonards' bohemian quarter . It is really peaceful here with private communal gardens in front of this row of beautiful Georgian villas. We have our own large garden with studios at the back. We are just 5 minutes walk from the sea and a 30 minute walk along the seafront to the historic old town with its unique fishing fleet on the beach. We are 10 mins from the train station taking you directly to London and fashionable Brighton. The room is large and airy with a comfortable double bed with Egyptian cotton sheets and its own en suite bathroom. It looks out onto the lovely communal garden. We are on a private road so it is very peaceful and quiet.
A couple of minutes walk away is an excellent restaurant, St Clements, serving locally sourced food, though you may need to book at weekends. Next to it is The Horse and Groom , the oldest and best pub in St Leonards. Also nearby on Norman Road and the seafront are lots of lovely cafes which sell good food, and there are some fun vintage and second-hand clothes shops as well as antique shops and galleries. In the Old Town is the recently opened Jerwood gallery . Hastings is an eccentric town that likes any excuse to celebrate so there is usually a festival or event of some kind going on such as the Seafood and Wine Festival and the Coastal Currents Art Festival both in September, the Green Man festival in May and Old Town week in August..
A great place to visit nearby is the De La Warr Pavillion in Bexhill which has high profile art exhibitions .There is also easy access to the gorgeous Hastings country park by taking the Victorian funicular lift from the Old Town.
A perfect get-away from the city!
We have wi-fi and limited parking. A simple breakfast of tea/coffee toast and cereal is available on request and is included.
We had a wonderful stay with Adrienne, the house is beautiful and amazingly close to the sea. Perfect place to stay for a seaside getaway. Had lovely breakfast there and we felt very welcome, could have stayed much longer!
Adrienne and Nick are both very friendly and warm and their house is absolutely gorgeous. The room is spacious and bright, overlooking the private gardens and it was great to have so many nice books to choose from. They also seemed very interested in meeting us and we had a lovely chat over croissants and coffee in the morning. Would definitely recommend staying with them!
Wonderful, interesting hosts and absolutely gorgeous house and room. Would recommend anyone to stay here.
The heartwarming sight of a hallway full of bicycles greeted us on our arrival, followed by a friendly chat over a cup of tea. Nick drew us a map to guide us to our evening food and drink.
A spacious ensuite bathroom and very comfortable double bed. Beautiful rugs everywhere and paintings and drawings on every wall.
Breakfast was wholesome bread and croissants, and coffee as strong as we make at home!
I get the impression Adrienne and Nick like being hosts, and seemed really interested in spending time with us.
Thoroughly enjoyable stay! Ken and Tessa
We felt incredibly welcome during our brief stay, whilst also maintaining our privacy. We were offered (despite this not being part of the deal) proper coffee at breakfast as well as home made marmalade and toast! Excellent. Both Adrienne and her husband are great company and they have a very beautiful house in the heart of St Leonard's - the happening part of town. If you are looking for elegant, imperfect charm (i.e. a real home) this is the place for you just don't expect a 5*hotel. This was perfect for us and we hope to meet our hosts again one day! Genuinely really lovely people.
My experience at Adrienne and Nick's home was very intense, relaxing and positive. I felt part of the family within the small aspects of the day,
My room was in front of a giant chestnut tree filled with doves and squirrels, which, along with the sea waves crashing in the shores, definitely gave me lots of great Good Mornings!
Visiting the city was great, and I've been doing it by keeping a 'no stressed' approach to the travel, which is a very rare thing in the world!
I was not aware of the city and my travel started for a job purpose, but thanks to all these elements I really felt it like a real holiday.
I really enjoyed the atmosphere at home with Adrienne, Nick and William and me and the cat have become friends!
Look forward to coming back with all my family!
I'm real thankful to Adrienne's family for making the trip a great adventure to remember!
Very beautiful house with a homely feel - great location on a private street but round the corner from lovely shops... We would love to stay again.
Charming house on a lovely street, with a homely bedroom and comfy bed. My hosts were kind and accommodating. I'd certainly recommend!
Adrienne and Neil were lovely hosts and it was a real pleasure to meet them both. The room was great and the bed very comfortable. Would definitively recommend staying there and check out the Horse and Groom pub and St Clements restaurant next door. Both are just round the corner.
Sadly we did not meet adrienne who was away for the week, but we were well looked after by Neil. We met some fabulous characters staying here and the house was fantastic!! We were even lucky enough to see Neil's studio.
