The Space

Large Georgian house in a secluded corner of St Leonards' bohemian quarter . It is really peaceful here with private communal gardens in front of this row of beautiful Georgian villas. We have our own large garden with studios at the back. We are just 5 minutes walk from the sea and a 30 minute walk along the seafront to the historic old town with its unique fishing fleet on the beach. We are 10 mins from the train station taking you directly to London and fashionable Brighton. The room is large and airy with a comfortable double bed with Egyptian cotton sheets and its own en suite bathroom. It looks out onto the lovely communal garden. We are on a private road so it is very peaceful and quiet.
A couple of minutes walk away is an excellent restaurant, St Clements, serving locally sourced food, though you may need to book at weekends. Next to it is The Horse and Groom , the oldest and best pub in St Leonards. Also nearby on Norman Road and the seafront are lots of lovely cafes which sell good food, and there are some fun vintage and second-hand clothes shops as well as antique shops and galleries. In the Old Town is the recently opened Jerwood gallery . Hastings is an eccentric town that likes any excuse to celebrate so there is usually a festival or event of some kind going on such as the Seafood and Wine Festival and the Coastal Currents Art Festival both in September, the Green Man festival in May and Old Town week in August..
A great place to visit nearby is the De La Warr Pavillion in Bexhill which has high profile art exhibitions .There is also easy access to the gorgeous Hastings country park by taking the Victorian funicular lift from the Old Town.
A perfect get-away from the city!
We have wi-fi and limited parking. A simple breakfast of tea/coffee toast and cereal is available on request and is included.

  • Coming to the house of Adrienne and Nick was like coming home. The wonderful georgian house is situated in the intersteing and nice district of St. Leonards of Hastings, quite laid back in a lovely street and still close to the seafront. The room is nicely furnished and spacious and very convinient with its own bathroom. We enjoyed the relaxed and open atmosphere in the house. Adrienne and Nick are warm and friendly hosts, helpful and easy going. As they are artists as we are, we had a lot of talks and interests in common.
We definately recommend this nice room and will come back for sure.

  • A real pleasure all around. Artists and Bohemians have taken to the old, grand homes in the St. Leonard area of Hastings. That's Nick and Adrienne who live in a rather grand, old Regency crescent row house along a small private road. Street parking along crescent was easy.
Only met Adrienne briefly, but Nick was on hand...amiable and helpful...great fun to chat away with.
Our room was spacious..cavernous..with comfy double bed. No TV or coffee/tea set-up in room, but excellent wifi. Watched Netflix in bed for a bit just fine.
Adjoining bath w/ classic old tube, sink and fixtures were just fine and part of a large old house's appeal. Also there was a washing machine in bath.
General decor is grand old house/artist.
Didn't have breakfast there, but Nick was on-site
Immediate neighborhood Then, things are interesting, but getting pretty down, a little rough the more one gets into Hastings. We walked everywhere, particularly along beach esplanade to old town and up funicular to hiking trails. Train station appeared to be about 20 minute walk to house, a bit hillly

  • Once again, we had a lovely stay with Adrienne and Nick. They are very relaxed and easy-going and the house is in a beautiful location - peaceful but not too far from the town.

  • I really enjoyed my stay in st Leonards. Adrienne and Nick are having this beautiful house close to the seaside. Because it is located at an private road it behind a little park almost feels like a hidden gem. I haven't met Adrienne personally because she was off for a family visit. But Nick has been very nice and friendly. He made sure that I found an restaurant and made (email hidden)ly breakfast. Thank you!

  • Adrienne and Nick are both very friendly and warm and their house is absolutely gorgeous. The room is spacious and bright, overlooking the private gardens and it was great to have so many nice books to choose from. They also seemed very interested in meeting us and we had a lovely chat over croissants and coffee in the morning. Would definitely recommend staying with them!
