Gionata and his mother gave you a lovely warm welcome.
A charming rustic house (very clean, well-equipped and exactly as described) in a quiet hamlet but only 10min drive from Bagni di Lucca. Would stay there again if we're not very in the area. Recommend!
We absolutely LOVED our stay in this Tuscan villa! My favorite part was appreciating all of the details put into decorating the entire villa. There were heirloom treasures everywhere! It really felt like we were treasured guests in someone's home. The villa's location is a beautiful spot for a relaxing stay and close enough to make easy day trips to Cinque Terre, Pisa/Lucca (don't miss riding bikes on the wall of Lucca!) and Florence. Prepare for cool nights in April but the beds were comfortable and there were plenty of blankets to keep us cozy and plenty of firewood to keep the kitchen warm. Pack lightly or at least be prepared to carry your heavy luggage up a slight incline for a little walk to the house. I highly recommend staying at this charming traditional stone villa!
This place is the very picture of solitude. And just 9 min to Bagni di Lucca up a breathtaking road. Sheep dogs wood smoke fog the ringing of church bells. The 21st century has barely caught up with this place and yet a gas stove, and wifi made the cooks and worker bees in the family perfectly content. Our daily routine was to snowboard in abetone and come back do this place with all the local specialties of the region a super Tuscan and Pecorino and forget where we were. If we were there a month in the summer this is a great place to see Montefegatesi a medieval village with stunning views where the lone bar/cafe is operated by an ex rally racer from Scarsdale New York (ask him to show you his picture from Senators Doles visit) and Luccchio which deserves an oscar for most picturesque and/or precariously perched hamlet in Tuscany (see for yourself). The house can easily fit 4 couples or two families with a pretty little courtyard and plenty of outdoor space. If you are looking for a unique experience in Tuscany you cannot beat the price. And to top it off Gionata and his mother were wonderfully affable. Perfect hosts. I only wish they could turn their home into a true hotel. And if you don't believe me, take it from my 8 yr old when ask for his input: "it was goood". Thanks G&M for all your help.
Gionata and his family were very welcoming hosts, in this lovely traditional vila. We chose the house for a stay in the mountains, for some remoteness and to experience a different part of Tuscany. We were not disappointed. The vila was very warm (for winter), and very spacious (we are a family of 5 - it would fit 7-8).The local area is great for walks and runs. We explored Lucca while here (about 40mins away), and some of the villages on the way to Lucca. Its a great base for this area, fantastic views of the mountains. We arrived with plenty of provisions as we were coming late in the day, so I would also suggest stopping on the way to stock up on groceries before you arrive as well. Gionata and his mother provided a very friendly welcome. They were really nice to organise the stay with. Grazie Gionata!
great stay in gionatas villa.
thanks to gionata!
The place was fabulous!!!!!!!!!! Very beautiful. The house itself was very well equiped and everything we needed was there. The drive up the mountain was scary for me, but my sister thought it was great, so I guess its a personal choice. Waking up in the morning to church bells ringing from different villages in the mountains and sounds of roosters was awesome. Its quite a climb to the house so keep this in mind if you are not in shape or have a broken leg! Definitely would recommend this place for a very peaceful relaxing stay. Gionata and his mother were perfect hosts!
We had a truly lovely stay here in this tiny mountain village. The views are to die for! The house itself is spotless and very charming in an old Italian way. Our host was very friendly. We enjoyed going for walks around the little village with our son and discovering the countryside. This house is also very close to a sweet town called Bagni Di Lucca where all of your daily needs can be fulfilled. Bigger cities are also close enough to drive to or you can take the train. For a real Italian experience this is your choice. Thanks for everything!
very clean, everthing perfect, nice stay in Tuscany!
If you are looking for the ultimate Tuscany experience look no further! Casa Buonamici is THE place to get to have the perfect Tuscan vacation. Locacted just outside Bagni di Lucca in a tiny little village, the house is a living museum with modern accomodations. The owners and hosts, Gionata and his mom Marilia, have turned this historical family home (which used to belong to both Gionata's grand parents and great grand parents, whose portraits are all in the dining room) into a wonderful, welcoming home, combining the tradional with the modern in a very stylish way. No cheap and ugly platisc furniture here. The views are absolutely stunning. No discription or photo can give it justice. The little village is literally surrounded by mountains, hill tops with other little villages and green fields, which can be seen from every window in the house. What made this stay even more enjoyable was Gionata's incredible hospitality and great tips. Next to telling us all about the house, he also suggested some great restaurants and things to visit in the area. Because we were only there for four nights he told us to avoid Florence and concentrate on the smaller and less touristic cities and village around Bagni di Lucca. He personally also took us to two excellent local restaurants and gave us a quick tour of Bagni di Lucca. His mom Marilia surprised us the second day with the most amazing apple cake.
We had an amazing vacation at the house and we already know that we'll be back!!!
We had a very nice and comfortable stay in lovely traditional stone villa. It was exciting to live in a natural environment. Mountain view from the villa was quite enchanting. We fondly remember warm hospitality received from Gionata and his mother. We liked the kitchen as it was fully functional. We are sure nature loving people will also like the place.
