About this listing
Shangri la in the Woods! Our cozy 1 bedroom casita, with a full kitchen, is over the river, and on 1/4 acre of lush grounds. Only 10 minutes from shops and, 1 mile form slide rock. Walk to the river, hike, fish, or just relax in this magical place.
The cottage is next to the main house (I believe it's a converted garage), and nobody was in the main house during our stay. All correspondence was done via email. We were given accurate directions, as well as the code for the lock box for the key to the door. The neigborhood is a very quiet, residential area, but we hardly saw anybody around during the week we were there. The cottage is well equipped with everything needed for cooking and eating in. I had read there was no internet service and that phone service didn't work; however, I was surprised to find that there was no TV reception either. There were some DVDs available, which came in handy on the few rainy days we had. The place was very clean and decorated nicely, however, the bed and couches could use replacing.
Very nice just what we expected peaceful close to town and hiking loved the neighborhood
Our hosts were there to warmly welcome us and describe the history of the area. The house was well equipped for our needs and we enjoyed eating on the patio in the warm sunshine and hearing the creek flow by behind the house. I also enjoyed following the path down to the creek and exploring along the boulders that line it. The view of the stars from the patio was also amazing. If you want a comfortable stay a short drive from the hustle and bustle of town, this little house is the place for you.
This guest house is as described in the listing. We didn't meet Lynn during our stay but Richard was there and helpful with requests and information in general. Directions to get there were very clear. It is neat and clean.
As mentioned in the listing there is no reliable phone reception, you have to drive in to town for that.
Not mentioned in the listing is that it is close to a busy highway, so when sitting outside you can hear the cars, as well as the creek.
It was great for a romantic getaway. The views outside are beautiful! It is close to lots of great hiking and Sedona. The back patio is lovely. The bathroom is newly remodeled and looks great. We enjoyed the woodburning stove.
The cottage was about a 10-12 minute drive from the heart of Sedona, which was nice to be away from it all.
It would have been nice to get detailed instructions on the cottage. For example: there was a wood burning stove inside but I didn't know how to use it, so it would have been nice to have a booklet with instructions.
My stay at the cottage was cozy, comfortable and very quiet. The 10 minute drive up the beautiful canyon to the cottage is just far enough to feel a bit secluded. The kitchen was well stocked with all of the basic utensils if you prefer to cook your own meals. Everything was very clean and tidy. The cottage is nestled in a quiet neighborhood and it's the perfect place to stay if you're looking for a retreat, slightly away from town. Thank you Lynn!
