Rick's house is super funky and cool, just as the photos in his listing suggest. We had a great time exploring the grounds and observing the wildlife. So many nooks and crannies and cool places to sit and chill. The neighborhood is very nice, conveniently located, and a great place for a morning run. The bedrooms were comfortable, especially the master, with breezes through the sliders, amazing views all around, and waking to the sounds of the birds. There were plenty of linens and towels, though we found it odd there were no dressers in any of the bedrooms. While it was nice to take a break from TV for the week, it would be better if Rick's one TV was in a more commonly used room of the house. We never turned the TV on as it is located under the house on the ground floor, not near kitchen or a bathroom. It was great to have use of the bikes for the week, most of which were outfitted with lights for riding at night and baskets for carrying gear, plus 2 helmets for our children to use. We used the bikes every day to get to the beach, to dinner, to the stores, and the wildlife refuge. Beach chairs would be a great addition though we were able to rent them for the week at Billy's. The kitchen had everything we needed to fix breakfast and snacks every day with plenty of room for us to spread out and get comfortable. The washer and dryer came in handy and my kids loved the elevator. Rick was a good host who greeted us on arrival to show us around.

We really enjoyed the house with its expansiveness, lighting, views and solitude. The location was very convenient, especially with bikes. The master bedroom was like sleeping on n the treetops! I recommend it was seVeral couples or a family, the layout is great with plenty of sitting space for reading etc. Rick was a responsive host.

Roderick had planned on meeting us when we arrived but was called away. He left good instructions to get into the house. The house is very unique with many windows overlooking a beautiful waterfront, great lights and huge spaces. It is situated close to many restaurants and shops and is close to the bike path. We enjoyed biking to the beach and to the grocery store. There was plenty of space for 3 couples to enjoy their stay in Sanibel. We would have appreciated a notebook with instructions on using all the doors on the porch, where to find the bike supplies (we found the lock and small bike pump), more information on the elevator, where the broom and dust pan were (we found them about day 10) and what stations you could get on the TV set. A page on how the lights work, especially on the porch would be helpful. Maps with the bike paths on them are available on the island and would have been appreciated in such a notebook. We found the farm market on line, but that is also the kind of thing that first timers on Sanibel would appreciate. It would have been very nice to have a table/buffet near the dining room where we could charge our iPads and cell phones, play music on them as well as keep reading material and travel literature. It would have been nice to have a way to connect our laptop to the TV so that we could have watched movies on netflix as a group since there was little on the few television channels. The kitchen was very nice, but needed a few simple things to make it a joy to cook in--hot pads, tea towels, a baking pan, a sharp paring knife, a cutting board, and it would have been lovely to have a shrimp deveiner, garlic press, and citrus press. On the last day, we saw an iguana in the yard and enjoyed watching him as we had the ospreys, heron, ibis and the bald eagle. Great place to spend a relaxing time with family and friends.

Last week we vacationed in the Waterfront Jungle Home in the Gumbo Limbo section of Sanibel. Owner Rick was there to greet us and show us around the amazing structure, its a house with many rooms and unique spaces. He was very helpful to point out the many special features. The house has lots and lots of glass sliders and windows all with screens with views from any of these nothing short of spectacular. Beautiful breezes are accompanied by wonderful sounds of nature. Every morning various birds serenaded us with their unique sounds and songs. The well equipped granite counter topped kitchen with dining area accommodated our family well for meals and gathering but it is just one of the four or five sitting areas within the house. Access to all floors is by the centrally situated wooden spiral staircase. And there are many sitting areas outside the house. Adirondack chairs abound on the property. Clustered in pairs, artfully placed in private viewing areas or tranquil corners, we kept discovering them all over this amazingly landscaped property. The king size master bedroom on the main floor has a sitting are, a large walk in closet and sliding glass windows and glass panels all around - great for viewing wildlife and the water. And if thats not close enough to nature, there is also a private deck off of the bedroom. There are two private bedrooms on the top floor with a bathroom each and large closets. They both have magnificent views and cross ventilation provided from the multiple glass sliders. Very private. There is a huge screened in room overlooking the waterways and several decks provide more sitting areas around the house. The home is equipped with air conditioning but we hardly used it. We spent the days shelling on the beaches, visiting the nature refuges, kayaking through the mangroves and the rest of the time in and around this spectacular house.

Lovely spacious home with gorgeous views of nature (many beautiful birds and even a couple of alligator sightings near the backyard shore). Though located in a residential community, the large lot situated at the back of a cul-de-sac and lush landscaping afforded solitude and privacy. Unique floor plan - many spaces to choose from providing comfy settings for group gatherings or cozy solitary peaceful retreat! Wi-Fi worked great. Loved the kid artwork and decor (tasteful, non-cluttered). Lots of towels a nice amenity as were the availability of a washer and dryer. The 6 bikes were a big plus as they are indeed the best means of transportation on the island. Home close to shops and restaurants and most of the beaches only a 10 to 15 minute bike ride away. Easy to reach the owner. We had a minor plumbing issue, which was promptly taken care of. Would stay here again and recommend to family and friends.
