A new self contained garden studio apartment in Lorne on the Great Ocean Road. Overlooks the Otway forest and is a short walk to Teddy's Lookout and Lorne beach, restaruants, and cafes. Queen bed, kitchenette, separate ensuite, private deck with weber barbeque. Air conditioned with TV/DVD. A great place to stay for a relaxing getaway or for beach, bush walking, or sight seeing along the Great Ocean Road.
If you are travelling the Great Ocean Road Lorne is a great place to stop as it offers the only protected surf beach along the coast as well as access to the Otway Forest which surrounds the township. You therefore have the beach as well as the forest walks and waterfalls at your doorstep.
At the time of writing a family of Koalas were living in the trees over the road from our house (see photo of mother and young one) where Forest View is located and they have been there for some months. We are also regularly visited by King Parrots, Sulfur Crested Cockatoos, Black Cockatoos, Gang Gang Cockatoos as well as many other smaller native birds. We also often see Kangaroos and Wallabies in the forest behind our house and it is a very special place for us because of the wildlife here.
During peak holiday periods or popular weekends a two night minimum may apply.
Awesome place to stay when visiting Lorne! Great space, modern and clean. Very private and equipped with just about everything you'd need for a short stay. Highly recommend for anyone traveling to Lorne :) Thanks Ray! :)
The studio was as described and Ray made sure we had access to it, although he was not there. The surroundings are really good - close to lookout's, a forest and...yes, cute koalas up in the trees. Little bit small for longer stays. Recommended.
Thanks for a great time Ray, the bungalow was excellent and exactly what we were looking for. Couldn't find the local koala though. I'll definitely recommend your place to friends. Thanks.
Lovely wee apartment and although Ray wasn't there when we arrived, his partner Anne greeted us and made us feel welcome. Ray's instructions were very clear and the location of the apartment is very close to the main strip of Lorne. It is at the top of a steep walk though, so factor that in if you're not a fan of walking! All in all a beautiful weekend getaway, I highly recommend Forest View Bungalow.
Thanks Paul for fixing the wifi extender. I have had trouble getting it to work and finally gave up leaving guests to use the house wifi which as you found was not a strong signal. I do not understand exactly what you did but thanks heaps on behalf of all future guests at Forest View who will now have reliable wifi.
Our stay at Rays was exceptional. Everything had been thought of. A very comfy bed, good choice of cereals and yoghurt to go with it. A very good location only a short (but incredibly steep) walk into town. Highly recommended.
We had a great time! The bungalow had everything we needed and was quiet and in a beautiful gully setting. It was very easy to find and access was made easy.
Our host Ray was very welcoming even though he wasn't present. His instructions were thoughtful and very easy to follow. Our arrival was smooth and flawless.
The location was a good distance from the town center, so a car is required. But, the quietude and proximity to the national park was well worth it.
This is a very small place. If traveling with kids, pets, or lots of luggage, you may prefer a larger accommodation. Perfect for one person.
I am married with three adult children who have all left the nest. My partner Anne still works but I am retired and spend most of my time bike riding, swimming and doing small renovation work either on our Melbourne house or at our house in Lorne where Forest View is located. Much of my time is also spent as a volunteer English language tutor and doing handyman/building work on remote Aboriginal communities around Australia. I love cooking and have a love of most food but especially cheese and I am also a home cheese maker, my favorites being soft washed rind cheese and blues. My aspiration (probably unachievable) is to make a blue that comes near the best French blues like Roquefort and Saint Argur.
