Joan was great about responding to my questions, which made us feel very comfortable about staying at their home. The house was very nice and had a lot of extras to make the stay even more enjoyable – a deck overlooking the beautiful hills along with a view of the Capitol, a fire pit with firewood stocked nearby, a BBQ grill, as well as many details throughout the house tailored to make guests feel welcome and comfortable. Joan met us at the house to show us around and also brought over a dozen farm-fresh eggs for our breakfast. The drive to downtown Madison was quick and easy, yet we were in a beautiful country setting. This was our first Airb&b experience and I could not have been happier with our host or our accommodations.
Seven of us (five adults, three kids) stayed at Joan's beautiful farmhouse over Thanksgiving this year, and hosted dinner for 18 people in her spacious dining room. Everyone had a lovely time - the house was warm, comfortable, and had plenty of room for the family. The kitchen was well stocked with cookware, the setting was serene, and the drive to downtown Madison only around 15 minutes in the snow. Joan even provided winter vegetables from her garden for our dinner! We loved our vacation on the farm, and found everything to be just as described, although the photos just don't convey how pretty the house is! We will definitely re-book next time the whole family goes to Madison. Thanks Joan!
The house was very comfortable and welcoming. It was close to our venue but just far enough outside the city to feel like we were at home. Rooms were comfortable. Better than a hotel . It worked out great.
Because of our crazy schedule, I never got a chance to meet Joan (host) personally, but she made sure that we had access to the place and was willing to answer anything we may have had questions about. The listing well represents the house and it more than met our needs for our short stay. Thanks, Joan!
Joan was a great host and made us feel at home. The house was just as described on the website - spacious, clean, comfortable and quiet. It also had all the amenities.
We came to Madison for a wedding and stayed here with two other couples and their children. The kids had plenty of room to play and run around outside. The house is in the middle of the countryside, so it provided a place to relax. At the same time, Madison was only a few miles away, so we weren't far from the city and the house was a great base for us as we went to different places.
There was a garden and we were able to pick vegetables to cook.
Joan's house was great. We enjoyed our stay, and look we forward to staying here again on our next trip to the area.
Late this past winter we had a small house fire that displaced us for just over a month. We started our temporary housing in a local hotel and quickly realized that wouldn't work for the long term.
A friend of mine mentioned checking out Airbnb. We'd only heard of the idea up until this point. After combing through several areas local to where we live, we ran across Joan and Steve's place on Capitol View Rd.
Joan and Steve welcomed us with a kindness that is rare these days. We had the entire house and several acres of land. We we're able to cross-country ski right out the back door, enjoy fresh farm eggs every morning, wake up to the sunrise high over Middleton from the sunroom, and come home to the sun setting just outside the picture window in the living room.
We stayed for about three weeks, and left with a couple new friends. Great people, great place. Can't be the location!

We decided to go to Devil's head for some skiing with 6 people total. Instead of drive all the way back to Chicago, we decided to stay here for the night and it was a great decision. The place is clean, comfortable, warm, and relaxing. Tons of board games, we ordered pizza, and watched a movie. It's nice having to park our car in the garage and the fresh farm eggs provided were a cherry on top. Also, very helpful that all the cooking items like pans, pots, coffee grinder, coffee maker were all at our disposal. We will be back again.
