The Space

We are a boutique retreat space, built from up-cycled shipping containers to be eco-friendly, safe and comfortable. We have an gorgeous movement arts studio on the property, as well as a unique boutique store. We offer massage and a variety of movement arts classes.

Guest Access

Guests have access to the studio when not in use for classes or retreats, access to free WiFi and free filtered water, fully equipped kitchen, and shared deck area.

Interaction with Guests

We are generally around and available to help. We do hang out on the shared deck sometimes, but we live in a separate house on the property. Guests likely will interact more with Bodhi, our lovable dog, than with us, unless they seek us out!

The Neighborhood

Dominical is a small beach town, with world-class surf and beautiful sunsets. There are several good restaurants and cafes, decent supermarkets, a bank and a pharmacy. There are a multitude of amazing outdoor experiences, tours and adventures to be had, which we can help arrange. Occasionally there is interesting night life although Dominical is more of a daytime place.

Getting around

There are plenty of buses and taxis to get around to surrounding areas, and one can walk to the beach and to everything in Dominical easily from our place. We can help arrange shuttles or transport to get to or from the airport.

Other Things to Note

We are a relaxed and safe spot to enjoy Dominical, our yoga studio and the surrounding areas from.

  • What a wonderful stay at such a lovely and peaceful place! Everything was exactly as expected. My room was nice and the bed was very comfortable. The shared facilities were always very clean as was the outdoor shower.
Katya, who works in the boutique, was incredibly helpful with everything including information about the area and booking tours and shuttles. The yoga studio is beautiful. The yoga classes were easy to follow for a beginner like me. The instructor, Maite, was excellent.
I would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to anyone who wants a relaxing stay in nature.

  • Brendan and Sofia have such a beautiful and peaceful home. I wish I had time to stay longer! If you like yoga - you'll really enjoy their 1.5 hour classes held each morning :)

  • The eco-retreat served as great, affordable lodging for my first solo adventure to Costa Rica. It is located in the very small town of Dominical but has lots of restaurants, markets, beaches, and great sight seeing locations all nearby! Brendan was nice enough to set up my transportation there and back to the airport (shared shuttle cost $50/Private shuttle cost- $150). I didn't see much of Brendan or his wife really during my stay, but the woman working in their office has a breadth of knowledge about the town, and awesome places nearby, and helped me arrange all of my activities during my stay! She had great dining suggestions and was always so nice and patient with me. I really appreciated her amazing customer service!

In regards to the rooms, they were clean and small but suitable for 1 or 2 people max. The beds are so comfortable! My only "complaint" with some of the rooms are that some of them share a window with the kitchen, so any and everything happening in the kitchen (especially early in the morning) feels like it's happening right in your room. One day during my stay, there also was really loud (unexpected on my end) construction going on all day long that was very noisy. Also, the shower is an outdoor shower but it's actually very nice and still offers you privacy! I got used to it very quickly and had no issues with it during my stay.

Lastly, the yoga studio is beautiful and the classes are awesome. I'd definitely recommend Danyasa for lodging to those who are visiting Costa Rica and want to have a more authentic experience during their visit, rather than just staying at a resort.

  • We were at danyassa for only three nights. We loved the fact that it is located in the middle of Dominical. The vibe there is very communal. Their three dogs were precious. Beds were comfortable and the ac was key. The rooms are very secure which was nice to not have to worry about our stuff. The yoga studio is perched on top of the rooms which gives a lot of shade to the property and the rooms. We hardly ever saw the staff but if we needed something they were happy to help. The bathrooms and shower are all outside the rooms and shared. I didn't mind but my girl did. It just depends on who yar. The kitchen had everything we needed. The beach and really everything for that matter is just down the street. Seeing that it was the end of the high season just before Easter we had the entire place to ourselves. I don't think we saw anyone that wasn't staff the entire time. We actually enjoyed it.

  • Danyasa was wonderful! The room was spotless and very comfortable, especially with both options of an electric fan and air conditioner. Brendan was responsive, very quickly, with any/every request made.

The bathrooms were also spotless and the hot-water shower was a delight. Although I only stayed a few nights, the convenience of the fully equipped kitchen was superb! An assortment of teas as well as the filtered water provides proved to be quite essential throughout the stay.

I would definitely recommend Danyasa to any friend/family member who is looking for a "green," comfortable accommodation in Dominical.

  • Amazing location in an amazing town. Highly recommend staying here over anywhere in Manuel Antonio or Uvitas. Beautiful deck and yard. Air conditioned unit. Sweetest dog in the world. Just a world-class experience.

  • communication with Brandan was very easy and prompt. He always got back to me immediately with all questions and requests. This made for a hassle -free, relaxing arrival.
The location right by the beach was great and I liked being walking distance o everything and close to shops for food etc. I also really loved the use of the kitchen, the blender and the purified hot and cold water. Perfect for what I needed!

  • We had a great time staying at Danyasa Econ-Retreat. Sofia is a wonderful host. We woke up and saw plenty of tropical birds. We also were just a short walk to the beach. Everyone was incredibly friendly and hospitable. Our room was nice and bed comfortable. We were invited for a free yoga session, which if we had more time in Dominical we would've have attended.

  • This place is simply magical! It is jungle, comfort, and community all wrapped in one. The yoga studio is absouuuulutely beautiful and is a hub for awesome, fun, brilliant people. I love the outdoor kitchen that is fully stocked with everything you will need to feel at home. My favorite is the hammock out back with views of the jungle greens and a river in the back yard! Brenden is such a sweet and peaceful man, always offering a smile and warm, playful energy. Sofia is an incredible being! - If you get to hang out or take her classes you are bound to learn so much from her grace and wisdom. I feel so lucky to have landed there and to have learned from the amazing teachers they have in the studio. I came thinking I would stay a night, and ended up staying a week. :)
