Retreat to the sanctuary of the Nicasio Creek Cottage, a beautiful historical getaway at the geographic and cultural heart of Marin County.
With the constant stress of daily living, most of us need regular contact with nature to switch off, unwind and reflect. Just 45 minutes from downtown San Francisco, 20 minutes to Point Reyes National Seashore, 30 minutes to the Sonoma Wine Country and just up the road from the Lucas Film's creative epicenter, Skywalker Ranch, a stay in this newly remodeled cottage - once the deer camp for the local ranch - has you perfectly situated to enjoy all that the area has to offer.
Whether its just a short weekend refresh or a peaceful extended stay amongst the beautiful natural surrounds, you will come away inspired and revitalized! Enjoy the serene country setting by day and dance the night away to live music at the celebrated Rancho Nicasio. Or pick up some delicious locally made cheese at the Nicasio Valley Cheese Company, California's only certified organic farmstead cheesemaker, and enjoy it on the sunny, creek-side deck with a glass of wine. If you are more the active type, this is a paradise for cyclists, hikers, bikers and naturalists of all sorts. Hike the hills around the property or bring your road bikes and enjoy one of the many famed rides that begin at the cottage's private gate.
The cottage has a private entrance (owners live at the other end of the property), large deck overlooking a seasonal creek and waterfall, full kitchen, bedroom with queen size bed and cozy living room that opens up onto the deck. A television with DVD player is available and fresh eggs are stocked in the fridge upon arrival. There is limited wireless internet available.
In addition to chickens there are horses, goats, cats, birds and dogs on the property so for their safety and comfort there are absolutely no visiting pets permitted. Even the very sweet and well behaved visiting cats and dogs are disruptive to the animals that live here so please don't ask! Sorry, NO exceptions.

Another great stay. What a joy to wake up to horses and mini goats grazing outside the bedroom window of this beautiful, comfortable, fully appointed and nicely maintained cottage. Thanks Holly for sharing your amazing piece of paradise!
What a delightful stay! The unit is a gorgeous property with horses, goats, and chicken right out the window. A perfect getaway weekend from San Francisco. The unit is standalone with its own entrance, and is extremely quaint with all the necessary amenities. Holly keeps it in great condition. We made day treks out for hiking and oysters nearby.
Holly was a fantastic hostess! She went above and beyond to accommodate us and we couldn't have appreciated it more.
The cottage was beautiful, the animals were great, the location was perfect- We'll definitely be coming back!
My boyfriend and I stayed at Holly's cottage for a weekend away from the city and found it to be amazingly relaxing, comfortable, cozy and exactly what we were hoping for. The cottage is located on a property with goats, chickens and horses and totally picturesque. When we arrived there were even fresh farm eggs from her chickens for us to have for breakfast. We couldn't have found a more lovely spot for the weekend. Holly sent extensive notes on things to do in the area which were very helpful. Totally recommend the place!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this cozy country cottage . Savored alfresco breakfast out on the deck beneath the trees , and visiting with the goats and chickens . The cottage is very comfortably furnished and clean . The bed and bedroom are quite conducive to reading in bed (individual resding lights) and a restful nights sleep . Stars at night , fresh eggs and sunshine in the morning !!! Thanks Holly!!!
Wonderful place to stay. We had an awesome weekend! Thanks!
This was a cute little getaway cottage, perfect for a couple. The deck was a delightful place to sit and gaze at the dozens of trees above the creek bank, and the hammock was delightfully restful.
Holly was quick to respond and a clear communicator. We didn't see her once while we were there. While the cabin is on her larger property, it has its own entrance, so there is privacy. The fresh eggs were a treat.
The location was delightful for exploring pt Reyes and Tomales Bay.
If I could improve anything, it would be the noisy bike riders yelling at each other as they went past on the nearby road. I think there was a century ride that day, so it may have been more than usual. A slightly later checkout time would have made the last day a little more luxurious, because we really didn't want to leave!
Holly was a wonderful hostess and the cottage proved perfect for the two of us and was just as presented. We enjoyed the fresh eggs Holly left for us and her help with our tourist endeavors. The horses, chickens, and baby goats were a plus and provided entertainment value. We will definitely book again the next time we travel to Northern California.
Holly's country cabin was wonderful. She provided just enough luxuries to make me feel pampered (fresh eggs!) and the seclusion to rejuvenate. Just what the doctor ordered. The cabin was bright, airy and comfortable. I loved the hammock for late afternoon naps. I hope to return!
Loved my stay with Holly at the Country Cottage! The cottage is nestled very close to the farm, which included 2 horses, 2 baby goats (most adorable things I've ever seen) and 4 chickens, whose eggs were shared in the fridge for my breakfast. (yummy!) The chickens are normally free range, but when guests stay at their cottage, they are kept safely in their coop.
The cottage was very clean - well decorated and the pictures are spot on of what to expect. Holly was great about sending me information of where to find groceries, brunch/meals, sightseeing, and hiking around the area. Besides all the great information for the local dining, the kitchen comes surprisingly well stocked with pots/pans/cooking utensils, cheese knives, cutting boards, colanders, spices, olive oils/butter, sugar, flour, and even a mortar and pestle! I was happy to be able to stock up on produce from local farmers markets and easily cooked all my meals at the cottage. Books, dvds, yoga videos & mat, playing cards were also neatly tucked into the living room and made me feel confident that had it been poor weather (luckily it was beautiful), I would have also felt comfortable and homey staying inside.
The proximity of the farm animals are pretty close to the cottage, and even though Holly or her kids stopped by to feed and care for them, there was a real effort to keep my stay as private as possible, and I honestly never heard or saw them. Just a word of warning though, the farm is located fairly close to Lucas Valley Road, so there is some noise from cars going by. This didn't bother me, but if you are looking for an extremely dead quiet cottage stay, just know this one has a little noise from the road.
Overall, loved my stay with Holly. Gracious host, well appointed cottage, cute farm animals, and a great launching point to other small towns to explore in the area.
