Jacaranda Cottage is a perfect stay for those who enjoy the option of a secluded setting, while still being an easy stroll to the heart of Huskisson.

The garden attracts a variety of birds and animals such as Australian possums and bandicoots, while kangaroos are often seen towards dusk on the fields opposite. You will sometimes wake to the chuckling laughter of kookaburras or during the day, spot where a bowerbird has created it's bower under the bushes in the front yard .

The space
The bedroom is light and airy while the bed boasts both a quality mattress and top brand sheets.

At the bottom of the room is the en-suite where you will find a shower with plenty of hot water, a toilet and a vanity which holds a first aid kit, and hair dryer.

An electric heater will warm you up on chilly nights while a ceiling fan is installed to brush away the summer heat.
A toaster, kettle, microwave, plates, bowls, salad bowl, cutlery and mini fridge allow a degree of self-catering while an attached deck with table allows an opportunity to sit and relax.
There is an ironing board and an iron provided.
The television can be viewed from the bed and some basic board games are kept in the room.
Off-street parking is available and access to accommodation is through the front deck and a side path.

Guest access
Feel free to park in the driveway and not on the street.

If you would like to sit around an above ground fire pit some evening, there is one in the backyard. Don't be afraid to ask and Ill get you some matches.
Feel free to wander into the backyard at any time and visit the chickens at the very back of the property or enjoy the garden space.

Other things to note
The accommodation incorporates practices that leave a low environmental footprint. Solar panels on the roof feed in your electricity, there is a recycle bin, biodegradable bags are used and you can wash with environmentally friendly soaps and shampoos.

With Covid still a concern in our nation , protocols are put in place at Jacaranda Cottage with extra cleaning and wiping of surfaces with virus killing cleaners . Lights , door/sink handles, switches , microwave buttons and remotes are all given special attention.
Some sound can travel through into the kitchenette from our home. Closing the bedroom door makes a positive difference to your sense of privacy.
The Husky Carnival operates from Christmas through to the end of January and soccer is played across the road in the autumn and winter evenings. The carnival is located about 100 meters from Jacaranda Cottage so please be aware that some noise from the carnival can be heard from 6 - 10 o'clock each night during these times and also some sound from the soccer games.
Whale watching discounts are available when you stay at Jacaranda Cottage with a 20% reduction in fee if you book with either Dolphin Watch
or Jervis Bay Wild . Just ask me for a voucher or mention it to the the operator if booking ahead then collect the voucher from me following your arrival.

Location

Huskisson, New South Wales, Australia

Huskisson is a highly sought tourist destination.. It is also worth noting that
the Husky markets are held on the far side of the fields opposite the house every second Sunday of the month and begin in the morning finishing just after lunch. While the Husky Fair also operates there during Easter and Summer holidays and concludes with an impressive fireworks display.

The Lady Denman Museum is located nearby and provides a place to feed the friendly fish in their tidal pool. The cinema, the Huski Pub, cafes, bakery, shops and cruises are all within a short walk.
Apart from a wide range of shops and eateries available, bookings can be made in Huskisson for whale and dolphin watching, diving, fishing charters and the local Ferry, which will take you across the creek. Paddleboard hire is available, as are sea kayak tours.
Walk a little further to the far side of our town for a summer swim in the seawater pool, explore the local beaches or meander along the bike track which winds along the forested foreshore.

I am an active traveler who enjoys the outdoors. I have seen a lot of the world and have had great adventures, mostly through backpacking and through work exchanges. I love bush walking, team sports, fishing, snorkeling, surfing, painting, reading and gardening. I am easy going and have really enjoyed meeting others since starting to host. I like to give something positive back to the world.
