Good communication. Excellent neighbourhood, clean appartment and very comfortable bed!
I just returned from a trip to Paris and a stay in Lea's charming room on the Canal St. Martin.
Lea's response time was almost always immediate and she was extremely helpful and kind. The room is located in the hip (think Brooklyn of Paris) area of Oberkampf on the Canal St Martin in a very Parisien style Haussman building. It is located on a 4 story walk up so anyone with walking problems may not be able to handle the walk up and down everyday, but I myself loved the authentic feel of the building. The unit itself is much larger than expected with a full bedroom (very comfortable bed) full kitchen, stocked with a coffee machine (and coffee!) as well as a washer/dryer for all your laundry needs (a major plus for me) a living room with a pullout couch in case you have guests and a gorgeous bathroom with a huge shower and tub.
Lea's brother Matt welcomed me to the flat, thankfully he accommodated my luggage early (there was a mixup with my car service so I arrived a few hours early to my 3pm check in) and he was able to put my things in the room while he cleaned up and while I went out and explored the area. he was even nice enough to carry my very heavy luggage up the 4 story spiral staircase for me. The bedroom has a spacious closet as well which was a major plus. The flat is accessible to the Republique Metro stop and is less than a 20 minute stroll to Notre Dame and surrounding areas. The area is very safe, surrounded by bars, restaurants and some of the best boulangeries I have tasted. lea was kind enough to leave a pamphlet of a map of the surrounding area with shops, markets, restaurants, bars etc. all highlighted, important phone numbers, French Phrases and city information to cover all your bases. Wifi is also included and worked very well. I also appreciated that she included a hairdryer in her bathroom, as well all know how well traveling with adapters and hair dryers don't mix well.
I unfortunately never got to meet Lea in person, but she was always accessible by phone or email as well was her brother Matt. I do want to point out that the view from the flat is of a courtyard, not the canal- I knew that from reading previous reviews so i did not mind, but it is worth pointing out.
I had a wonderful stay at this flat, it felt very authentic and it's a wonderful area for travelers interested in a more authentic Paris vibe rather than overly touristy.
Thank you lea!
Our experience in your apartment was amazing. We enjoyed a lot the location and the neighbors. We just notice a problem with the dishwasher. When we tried to use it the electricity get down. Apart of it everything fine.
The best thing is the location, magnifique! It is perfect to have 4 metro lines only 7 min away from the appartment. Moreover, the little guide you left about places/restaurants/shops ain the neighborhood is fantastic.
Regarding the appartment, the most important thing is that the big tile on the bath closest to the door is fixed, because it falls sometimes when you close the door (which opens with quite some noise if you don't purposefully close it). Another very important issue is the water heater. It is constantly working ( I doubt it is right) and you can smell the gas, which seems dangerous.
Another less important thing is that we had to buy toilet paper, which is not convenient.
Ah! The bed was specially comfortable, another great thing.
The apartment was perfect! Warm, cheery, clean, and bright! It had everything that you need, and the area is one of the most fun areas in Paris. Matt was super nice and helpful. Many thanks for the wonderful stay.
