Modern Home in Khmer Neighborhood

House - Private room · Aphireak Angkor Road (Angkor Conservation Road, Siem Reap, Siem Reap 17259, Cambodia

Sleep 10 minutes from Angkor Wat! Private guest room in a newly-built house with air conditioning, a queen size bed, private bathroom and a balcony. Rather than a hotel, stay in a Cambodian neighborhood to enjoy its flavor.

The Space

Our newly-built home is located about 5 minutes (by tuk tuk) Northeast of the major downtown tourist area (called Pub Street) and just 10 minutes South of Angkor Wat. The house is located within walking distance of some delicious restaurants, the river, the Angkor National Museum, and the Angkor Conservation Center.

Your private guest room has air conditioning, a queen size bed and its own bathroom. A comfortable place to rest after a day at the temples and a night out on Pub Street. Or, if you're staying in for the evening, enjoy watching a movie from our collection, or ordering delivery from some tasty eateries.

Want to cool down? There are many pools in the neighborhood within walking distance, including at the hotel just down the block. $5 or ordering a drink will get you pool access at most hotels in our area.

Guest Access

Enjoy your own private room and bathroom with a hot shower. Shared spaces include the kitchen (feel free to use any cooking supplies and spices you see - and there's a great market around the corner!), the living room, and two balconies. There's also a laundry machine in our bathroom if you need it.

Interaction with Guests

We work 6:30-5:30 during weekdays, so unless you're an early riser, you may not see us until the evening! When we're around, we can give you plenty of recommendations for places to eat and sightsee.

The Neighborhood

Our home is lovely, but our neighborhood is just as wonderful! Our homeowner's mother owns a soup shop in front of our house. Sit down for an authentic Khmer meal with the friendliest family you'll ever meet.

Getting around

We have a favorite tuk-tuk driver and tour guide we'd be happy to connect you with. Otherwise, just walk down the block to pick up a tuk-tuk -- they're everywhere! Tuk-tuk drivers are friendly and will take you anywhere you want to go for an inexpensive price.

An additional option would be to rent a bicycle from our neighbors ($3/day, $10/week). Biking around Siem Reap and the Angkor complex is a breeze -- you'll see many other cyclists in town. We recommend it!

Other Things to Note

There is Wifi at our house for you to use.

We also know a great tour guide who can take you around the temples of Angkor Wat. You'll like him a lot!

  • Leah and Brian were wonderful hosts! They helped us book a great tour guide and offered us their shower when ours had no hot water. Their home was modern and clean. Only a short tuk tuk ride to Angkor and pub street. I would highly recommend anyone to stay at this house for their vacation!

  • Brian and Leah are awesome hosts! Really nice and extremely helpful even before you arrive, they arranged a tuktuk to pick me up at the airport, a guide and tuktuk for Angkor Wat and give great suggestions for restaurants, things to do, etc. They are located in a nice neighborhood, away from the main tourist area, but 5-10 by tuk tuk, also just 10-15 from the main temples, so very easy to get to anywhere. There are many tuktuks around at all times. If it wasn't so hot, you could easily walk to town, but I think you'd melt. The apartment is very modern and very clean, in a safe local neighborhood, with local restaurants you could easily walk to. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat!

  • Leah and Brian were very friendly hosts, they gave us good tips (restaurants, tuk tuk driver, etc.) and informations. We felt like if we were at a friends' house. The bedroom and the bathroom were clean and nice. The flat is not in the city center but it's not even at 5 minutes from the market and pub street with a tuk tuk. A place to go !

  • Stayed with Brian and Leah for 3 days and they were great hosts and a flat in a good location between the city centre and Angkor Wat which was perfect for us. It was a $2 and 5min tuk tuk ride to the city centre, and less than 10min to the temples. We felt totally safe walking around the neighbourhood at various times of day/night.

The room was quite large, with nice air conditioning (very much needed in the heat.) They set us up pretty well with a closet and keys to the place (even the lock for the gate outside, which was handy one night when we were out a bit late.) One great thing they had for us was a cellphone, it made coordinating with friends or hiring tuktuk drivers for day tours pretty easy.

It was pretty hot when we were there so having access to their washing machine is a huge plus, and we really liked having the private bathroom after a day of exploring the temples. Riverside Garden (which they recommended), is a quick 2min walk from their place, and had a great midday swim in their pool (free if you buy a drink/meal), great food there too!

They have a few local places for food on their street as well, we only got to try the Mie Cafe (again, their recommendation) and had one of our best meals during our stay. Sadly we didn't get to try the noodles from the shop that's conveniently located right outside their door, it smelled great whenever we walked by their in the evenings.

Leah and Brian are pretty easy going, had great recommendations on things to do/places to eat. We'll definitely stay with them again if we're ever back in Siem Reap.

  • I wish Brian and Leah could be my Airbnb hosts wherever I travel. They are fantastic people with a comfortable modern home in a great location. Everything was a breeze and the driver/tour guide they arranged for me worked out great. I even got fairly sick one evening and they were quick to provide me with various treatments.

Also, I HIGHLY recommend checking out the circus Brian works for one night. Ask him about it!

  • We spent three nights with Brian and Leah. They are very friendly and we enjoyed our stay in their modern and comfy home. They let us use the washing machine which was a great help. We had some good conversations about their experiences living and working in Cambodia. In terms of location, the house is situated near some good restaurants (within walking distance) as well as a hotel called Natura where you can use the pool for $5 or get drinks on Happy Hour for $2. Pub Street is a $2 tuk tuk ride away and the airport is a $5 ride. Tuk tuks are readily available near the house. We found a guide on Vayable for our temple day but Brian and Leah can also help you with line up a driver and guide. All in all we found getting around Siem Reap very easy. We highly recommend staying with Brian and Leah.

*The internet is not unlimited wifi. There is a stick that you share with the hosts. Not a big deal but worth noting. We were able to get wifi access when we needed it plus you can get free wifi all over Siem Reap. *
