Other Things to Note
Tipp: since so many of my guests have always regretted that they did not allow enugh time on the Kona side, I like to recommend to stay at least 3 days on the west side of the island. From here you can even get to Hilo in 1:30 hr taking the saddle road. For sightsing the Volcano Nat. Park I would recommend 1 or 2 night in the Puna area.
No smoking on the premises
Wir sind herzlich empfangen worden und haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Es war sehr liebevoll eingerichtet und sauber. Toll waren auch die Beachsachen: Schnorchelsachen, Kühltruhe, Bodyboards...
Karoline is a very warm and welcoming host. The apartment is very bright, very clean, apart from the usual roosters also very quiet, with gorgeous views over the coast. Karoline takes care that her guests have everything they need, and I felt very comfortable during my stay. I especially appreciated that she keeps beach stuff including snorkel equipment for her guests. I had a good time there, and recommend a stay.
My wife and I absolutely loved staying in this apartment. It's located a short distance inland away from the shoreline, so you are surrounded by the diversity of the rainforest where you'll see geckos and coffee plants, etc. The views from the lanai are amazing. We had coffee and breakfast out on the lanai just about every morning. The apartment itself is beautiful - Karoline has a great eye for design, order, and detail. Her apartment has just about everything you'll need from sun block to snorkel gear to beach towels and chairs and more. You can also use her washer/dryer. We definitely packed light for this trip. The apartment really felt like living in your own home. On top of everything else, Karoline and her dog Sundance were absolutely great hosts. Any information or advice you need you can just ask Karoline who lives above the apartment. And if you need pet therapy, Sundance loves to be petted. The location can get a bit noisy at night due to the chirping frogs, but once you close the windows, it's not a big deal.
Assuming you have a rental car, you have easy access to just about everything the island offers, from the resorts and tourist trappings along Ali'i Drive (10-15 mins) to Hapuna Beach and Beach 69 (1 hour north) to Place of Refuge (30-45 min south) to Greenwell Kona Coffee Farm (30-45 min south), and South Point, Black Sands Beach, and Volcano National Park (2.5 hours south and east). There's also a nearby and quiet post office less than 5 minutes away and a great farm-to-table type restaurant called Holuakoa Gardens and Cafe and an artist community.
We would recommend this stay to anyone, especially if you hate the conventional resort stays.
Karoline's apartment was spectacular. Meticulous, comfortable, with all of the comforts we were looking for (no stove top-but everything else). Kitchen, inside sitting place, and lanai were great. All of the comforts (from the radio to the blender) were well-used in our short stay. Location was great for the Kona coffee district and for heading up and down the coast to a luau at a resort, beaches, and historic sites. We hope we can return some day soon!
We really enjoyed our stay at Karoline's place during our Kona honeymoon. Karoline is a great host, who made sure we were comfortable and everything was within easy access, and even helped us out when we forgot some stuff at her place. The place is really cozy, with a fantastic patio view and all the amenities you could possibly need. The location is great - up on a hill about 15 minutes from Kona. We found it very relaxing, and as a bonus she provided us with fresh Kona coffee, fruit, and even champagne to celebrate our honeymoon! Also we really enjoyed that she left us a full set of beach chairs, snorkeling gear, and boogie boards! This place is a tropical home away from home.
About the Host, Karoline
I'm a native of Austria. When I arrived the first time almost 20 years ago on this island I felt like coming home. I had to leave of course, but eventually I managed to stay for good. Now I can share my home with travelers, and I will do my best to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Being a professional cleaner you can expect the place to be spic and span.
I'm a quiet person who loves to garden, cook and read.
