Your private room is located in one of the best neighborhoods in Chicago. We are located in Bucktown and are a 15 minute walk (one el stop away) from both Wicker Park and Logan Square. Enjoy a true Chicago experience.
Your comfortable, private room is located in the first floor apartment of our private home. We use the first floor as a freelance graphic design office. Your bedroom is one of two rooms we offer on airbnb (the other room is https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/4667333?s=-FGw). The room is always completely private, and the rest of the apartment is for your use as well. The office space is generally in use during business hours, but we use it during nights and weekends since I use the space to oil paint as well.
The room has a queen size futon bed, lighting for reading, a computer for staying connected and streaming movies, a closet for storage, and a full-length mirror. It's a small room, but has everything you need.
The unit has a separate entrance for the rest of the house, so you can come and go with privacy. You have access to the unit which includes a kitchen, bath, dining area, reading area, and WiFi. You will also be able to relax in our back yard garden with a patio, canopy, grill, comfortable seating, and lighting.
Interaction with Guests
This is a working office during the days, so there will be phones ringing, music playing, and keyboards clicking during office hours. Once in a while we do have meetings here as well.
We want to give you as much privacy as possible, but we will be available to give you any tips and assistance with your stay in Chicago. Also, there may be other guest staying in the other room. Please respect their stay as well.
Bucktown and Wicker Park are really fun neighborhoods to visit. There are plenty of shops, restaurants, bar, coffee shops, and clubs. There is a free pool a block away.
We're close to major interstates, and have plenty of parking (not all of Chicago can say that). We're a 10 minute walk to the el (blue line) and a 10 minute ride from there. There are also rental bike nearby that can be checked out and returned all over Chicago.
Other Things to Note
No pets, no smoking.
This was my first airbnb experience and it was pleasant. I didn't have any trouble. Brad and Carrie were so nice giving us directions around town. The location is convenient to get to the train and bus stop. Not hard to find at all.
The room was a bit small for two people but otherwise the place was as expected. The hosts were nice and helpful. The heat went out the first night and they brought out space heaters until the central heating came back on. Parking was easy. The neighborhood felt safe to me had a lot of good stuff within walking distance including trains.
Our hosts were very nice people and the location was opportune given that we needed to be close to downtown for work. Our room was very tight but clean and exactly as described.
On the other hand, the kitchen and bathroom were not ready for us when we got there. Looks like there was no preparation for our visit but when we told Carrie, she came down and cleaned up. This is a basement unit so be aware of that as we are light sleepers. There is another room next door (in the same unit) so I would recommend booking the entire apartment when visiting due to thin walls and sounds. We didn't want to keep complaining to Carrie about anything so we just put up with it.
It was safe and doable for the 4 nights but if we hadn't pre-paid for the reservation, we would have moved to a hotel.
We didn't meet Carrie, but brad was a great host and made some good recommendations. The "apartment" was cool and the room was small but just what we needed. Would use again!
This was my first AirB&B trip and it was a great impression for this type of traveling. I would definitely consider staying at the Miller's home in the future. The house was close to the CTA. The stay was enjoyable, got there a little earlier than expected but Brad & Carrie were very helpful with getting our room adjusted.

Hi, we are Brad Miller and Carrie Hood. We live in Chicago with our three children. After having such great times traveling with AirBnB to San Francisco and Michigan, we're inspired to try it ourselves. We are excited to host guests and share this great city with travelers.
We rehabbed the bottom unit of our house as a rental unit, but currently use it to run a design business. Our out of town guests stay in that unit, so it's perfect for AirBnB. We're excited to get the best us of our guest space.
It will be a pleasure to share our home that we love.
