About this listing
Your private room is located in one of the best neighborhoods in Chicago. We are located in Bucktown and are a 15 minute walk (one el stop away) from both Wicker Park and Logan Square. Enjoy a true Chicago experience.
Your comfortable, private room is located in the first floor apartment of our private home. We use the first floor as a freelance graphic design office. Your bedroom is one of two rooms we offer on airbnb (the other room is https://(website hidden)/rooms/4667333?s=-FGw). The room is always completely private, and the rest of the apartment is for your use as well. The office space is generally in use during business hours, but we use it during nights and weekends since I use the space to oil paint as well.
We have three kids who may wake up at 6:30 and start running around. They do not realize how this sounds to our guest and they are working on it. You will have to consider this as part of the experience. The bonus is that you won't sleep in by accident.
The room has a queen size futon bed, lighting for reading, a computer for staying connected and streaming movies, a closet for storage, and a full-length mirror. It's a small room, but has everything you need.
The unit has a separate entrance for the rest of the house, so you can come and go with privacy. You have access to the unit which includes a kitchen, bath, dining area, reading area, and WiFi. You will also be able to relax in our back yard garden with a patio, canopy, grill, comfortable seating, and lighting. The general areas are for guests in both room and will be shared.
Interaction with Guests
This is a working office during the days, so there will be phones ringing, music playing, and keyboards clicking during office hours. Once in a while we do have meetings here as well.
We want to give you as much privacy as possible, but we will be available to give you any tips and assistance with your stay in Chicago. Also, there may be other guest staying in the other room. Please respect their stay as well.
Bucktown and Wicker Park are really fun neighborhoods to visit. There are plenty of shops, restaurants, bar, coffee shops, and clubs. There is a free pool a block away.
We're close to major interstates, and have plenty of parking (not all of Chicago can say that). We're a 10 minute walk to the el (blue line) and a 10 minute ride from there. There are also rental bike nearby that can be checked out and returned all over Chicago.
Other Things to Note
No pets, no smoking.
Brad and Carrie's place was absolutely perfect for my stay in Chicago. At first I was a little concerned about staying in the lower part of their home with their office in the same space, but this really was not an issue. I think someone else was staying in the other bedroom but we never even crossed paths. Being more inclined to keep to myself this rental was oerfect for me.
The location and proximity to the blue line are really what makes this spot ideal. I walked into Wicker Park pretty much every day where there is great shopping and awesome bars and restaurants.
Such an awesome stay! The room was exactly as shown. As it is the downstairs of the family home you feel close but have your own space including private bathroom, kitchen and entrance. It is only a 5 minute walk to the blue line which can pretty much get you anywhere you need to go, including directly to O'Hare airport. I only met Brad briefly but he was very friendly and organised an information sheet which was left in my room. As a first time visitor to Chicago this was extremely helpful! I would definitely stay at Brad and Carrie's again if I return to Chicago and highly recommend it!
Carrie & Brad were perfect hosts and I was extremely comfortable in their gorgeous apartment -- the place is quiet, bedroom is spacious, the bed is very comfy, the period details around the unit are great, and the location is perfect -- an easy walk to anything you need.
Great place! 5min walk to the blue line. Quiet and cozy. I stayed for only one night but I feel like home. There r computer in room which have access to the Netflix. Definitely won't fill boring here!
Hubby & I stayed here for 2 nights while visiting our kids who live nearby. Location very convenient to Blue Line and Bucktown/Humboldt Park neighborhoods. The garden apartment suite (shared with the owners' home office, we had one of two BRs) is in a cute neighborhood, is quiet & very clean, with a breakfast-equipped kitchen. Our queen bed room was small but cozy, futon bed is comfortable, and we appreciated the internet, computer & monitor in our room. Easy arrangements to get into the unit, and Brad was around enough to answer any questions. In general, it all worked well for us -- thank you!
My sister and I stayed with Carrie & Brad for 2 nights, and we felt welcome and comfortable the whole time. The house is conveniently located near bus stops and the blue line train station, which we used to visit Lincoln Park and downtown Chicago. There were clean towels and a computer in the room that we used to watch movies on Netflix to unwind at night. We appreciated that the hosts respected our privacy throughout our stay. We would stay with Carrie & Brad again!

About the Host, Carrie & Brad
Hi, we are Brad Miller and Carrie Hood. We live in Chicago with our three children. After having such great times traveling with AirBnB to San Francisco and Michigan, we're inspired to try it ourselves. We are excited to host guests and share this great city with travelers.
We rehabbed the bottom unit of our house as a rental unit, but currently use it to run a design business. Our out of town guests stay in that unit, so it's perfect for AirBnB. We're excited to get the best us of our guest space.
It will be a pleasure to share our home that we love.
