Nancy was a great host. Just five minutes after we arrived, she greeted us and made sure we had everything we needed. If you're just looking for a quiet get-away in the country, this is the place.
We had a wonderful stay at Nancy and Tom's place. Nancy kept in contact with me throughout our planning and welcomed us with a warm southern hospitality. She had made a wonderful breakfast bread as well as her delicious parfaits and had them waiting for us for the morning breakfasts. This was the most enjoyable part of our week long trip even though we only spent 2 nites. It s so close to Williamsburg, Jamestown etc but the country feeling makes it so relaxing. Don't pass this "Gem" up if you are anywhere near this area.
Kathy and family
We stayed with Nancy and Tom while we were exploring Colonial Williamsburg, Yorktown, and Jamestown for the week of July 4th. The location of their beautiful home is perfect for getting to all of these places. The nearby wooded scenery is peaceful and makes for a great place to go "home" to after a busy day. Both Nancy and Tom couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. They gave us so many good suggestions on what to do and see in the area, as well as making sure that everything was always perfectly stocked where we were staying. During the entire stay, we always looked forward to some great breakfast treats like Nancy's yogurt parfaits, muffins, and fresh fruit. The fridge was always stocked with new water bottles and juice, which was great to have on hot days. The apartment is spacious and comfortable, with plenty of privacy.
Nancy made our special trip amazing. The location and the place is so beautiful and serene. The apartment was very clean and very spacious for my family. Nancy went above and beyond to accommodate my new baby and as a brand new mom she was very understanding and welcoming. The parfaits were amazing !!!!!!!! Everything we needed was in the apartment and we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay.
The rooms were very well done. Very clean and fresh. Nancy was very friendly and helpful. We would stay there again. Great job!
We really enjoyed our stay at Little gem. We found a great park just down the street with hiking trails and a huge lake. The accommodations were very clean and homey. Nancy and her husband were friendly, but gave us our privacy. They let us check in early and didn't mind that our dog stayed in the room while we went out. It was cool to see a different part of town that we probably wouldn't have explored. We called it 'fancy farms'. Very beautiful. The yogurt parfaits were as good as everyone else described. The perfect stay!
Nancy and Tom were extremely welcoming yet also gave us the space we needed to thrive (me and my two teenaged daughters). The apartment was very clean and quite spacious. I appreciated the honesty of her posting.. it is a basement apartment which isn't really an issue for what we needed.. but not a place I would want to hang out all day due to limited natural light. But very spacious, clean, and well stocked. The yogurt parfaits were a great way to start our day. BTW, we also found a great little gym down the street in Toana which let us work out - Snap Fitness. It's a 24 hr gym; you just need to call ahead to arrange to get a fob to get access. The weather was crazy hot while we were there.
About the Host, Nancy
I live in Toano, VA USA. I am married, have 2 children and 2 grandchildren. I am a yoga instructor and my husband works for a living-history museum. We reserved lodging through airbnb for our Italy trip and was so impressed with the whole experience that we decided to list our house as a host site for other fellow travelers. It is definitely the best way to go! We spend most of our free time with our grandchildren, gardening, cycling, and traveling. We are pretty easy going; enjoying life and new adventures!
