Great location just wish that the host was more considerate and accommodating to your needs. There was no Internet connection, and directions to the place were misleading
We did not have a great experience. We arrived fairly late – we did not get the warm welcome others spoke of and the place did not smell too good nor was it very clean (the sink had toothpaste droppings, there was a fair bit of dust where we would have hung our towels, and linens for my son’s bed were not clean so he used his sleep sac instead). My grown son and I had hoped for a couple of days in the county taking walks and making a brief visit to Florence, but we could not settle in here easily. We don’t mind a rustic place and don't need perfection - we can accept what comes with living in the country, but we didn't like that the place was not cleaned with any care and we got a negative vibe (how can one quantify that?!) that added to the discomfort. The next day we asked if they would mind us leaving early – that we didn't feel the place was right for us. Lisa readily agreed and reasonably asked what the problem was, but she soon turned what could have been a gracious response into an accusation that we were making up excuses to leave ( we were not). So I said if she insisted we stay, we would, we just wouldn't be happy. But then she backed down and said no, it was fine if we wanted to go, she would put the refund through.
Well, instead of the refund I got a request that we pay more for the night we stayed for the extra bed (despite that the linens she provided were dirty so we didn't use them,) and for turning the heater on for an hour. I wouldn't have minded the 5 euros for the heat but I did mind about the 10 for the supposed use of sheets. Still, I agreed because I didn't want to fight over 10 euros. I thought it was a pity that she didn't honor her word so we could just part without bad feelings.I think Lisa is a nice and well-meaning person, but just not a good host to us.
I think this could be a fine place to stay in the summer and apparently many people have a great time here. ( I tried to chat the sisters up to find out about the organic farming and the sculptures, but didn't get very far). As it turned out this was not an inexpensive place to stay nor was it comfortable or pleasant for us. This is the first time we have had a negative experience with an Airbnb host.
Very relaxing. We decided to cook dinner for ourselves in the very adequate kitchen. The large Coop in Incisa had everything you could imagine. It's a great place - rest in the Tuscan hills. If you are uncertain of the the location of the turn into the driveway, the coordinates are (phone number hidden) N (phone number hidden) E.
Site à couper le souffle. Un peu loin et on a dû demander mais ça à fait partie du charme. La mère de l'hôte est une sculptrice de renom et ses œuvres font partie de la deco.
Endroit ravissant en Toscane.
Living at San Michele church was an amazing experience. If you like nature, art, and good food, this is the place to stay. My friend and I stayed at Lisa's for just one night. Lisa's mom picked up up from the train station. Although there are some pictures on the website, we still found this place more beautiful than we expected. The place we stayed was big. It has kitchen, living room, bedroom and even a pretty terrace. We chose to have dinner (15 euros each) and breakfast (5 euros each) at the church. Almost all ingredients were fresh from the farm. And everything is delicious. I am very happy with my choice.
We stayed two nights at this absolutely gorgeous place up in the mountains away from all the hustle and bustle of Florence. Exactly what we were looking for. Lisa was a very accommodating host. We arrived late at night after a long drive and she was there to welcome us and show us the apartment. She also offered us a bottle of wine and a taste of some homemade limoncello. The apartment is clean and spacious and provides everything you need. The kitchen has a regular gas stove and also an old wood fire stove/open fire place which was a great feature. All the windows provide a stunning mountain view. There is a little terrace that also overlooks the mountains but is well hidden and protected by greenery. The perfect spot to just sit and enjoy a glass of wine. Finally the building as a whole is absolutely beautiful. The old church in the middle which Lisa let us take a peek at and the additions that were made over time on both sides of it. The property has a fig and plum tree which we were allowed to pick and eat as well.
Lastly, it is a pretty long and winding narrow road up the mountain and a little harder to navigate in the dark. Hence Lisa's recommendation to arrive during the daytime.
We had a great stay and were sad to leave! If we make it back to the area, we would love to stay with Lisa again and highly recommend it to others as well! Thanks for a wonderful stay!
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
This is a kind of magical place that will really appeal to all the artists and off-the-beaten path kind of travelers. The place is a way down a narrow, twisty road, but it's not far from a small town with everything you need. The apartment itself was lovely and had everything we needed with a gorgeous view! We especially enjoyed the hospitality of Lisa, her mother, and Robert. We were treated to an amazing breakfast in the church as well as an impromptu meal with other guests one evening. Finally, our son Henry was delighted to meet Rocco and enjoyed playing with him! Thank you for a great experience!
