Experience authentic, Balinese life. The Payogan Homestay Bungalow is located within our traditional, Balinese family compound, only 2 kilometers north of Ubud. Newly constructed, this one bedroom house is cool and airy, built in the traditional Balinese style. Situated towards the back of the compound, it has it’s own fenced and landscaped yard and an expansive porch from which to sit peacefully and relax, enjoying the view. The Bungalow offers privacy and space yet you will still wake up to the traditional sounds of Bali and experience the essence of staying in a Balinese village.
The Bungalow includes a full kitchen that opens up to a beautiful and unique outdoor platform overlooking the garden, from which to dine or practice yoga. The essence of this home within our compound is that it is not only private, it is also customizable for your needs. There is a second room separate from the cool and shady bedroom that can serve as an office or indoor sitting room, however you please. Additionally, the home is well equipped with modern amenities for a comfortable and well connected stay with free wifi, and brand new air conditioning, as well as plenty of electrical outlets for all of your devices. There is a beautiful bathroom with a lovely tiled floor, stone carved sink, soaking tub and plenty of hot and cold water and throughout the Bungalow are traditional artistry and antique Balinese wood furnishings, reflecting the intrinsic connection to spirituality and the environment, an inherent part of Balinese life. Every detail of the bungalow seeks to promote comfort, peace and restoration.
Living in a Balinese family compound means that you will have many friendly neighbors. The compound is home to a large extended family, all of whom are very involved in traditional Balinese life, and committed to our village ceremonies, many of which take place in our family temple. We welcome you to participate if you choose. In fact, we encourage our guests to join us to get the true feeling of Balinese culture. We can always help you through the experience and provide the traditional wear.

Wonderful cottage to land in! It's clean, private and cozy. Air conditioning works really well and the bed is very comfortable. There is a beautiful front yard to look out over from the covered porch. The Homestay is just far enough away from the main part of Ubud to offer peace and tranquilly, yet close enough to get there (about 10 minutes) when you need or want it. Ketut and his sons make it easy to get transport if you don't have your own. The grounds are very beautiful. Lovely, lovely family to host your stay. I can't recommend enough!
Ketut is super friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed staying here so much! It is a bit outside Ubud city center, but for us, this was only a plus, since the centre of Ubud is VERY busy and crowded.
There is a temple just down the road which, for me, gave the place a mystical ambience. Ketut told us about good places to go, what we could expect paying for things and the like. When you are like us, two clueless Norwegians travelling far away, things like that are crucial.
The space is nice, cozy and had everything we needed.
Our 6-days stay was just fabulous! Ketut and his family were very welcoming and helpful. They made our Bali experience unforgettable, thanks to their recommendations we explored the region by foot (to and inside Ubud), by scooter (around Ubud) and with Ketut's nephew as our car driver we went to climb Mount Batur, diving in Amed, visited several splendid temples... And in the night we relaxed in the peaceful Payogan homestay. Ketut's place is definitely recommendable!
This is our first time to Bali and we are so happy that we chose Ketuts Payogan homestay. With Ubud center only 20 min away or 5 by car or scooter it made us feel like locals instead of tourists. The bungalow is clean and tidy. It's mostly quite with a few roosters to say good morning and sometimes good night. Ketuts family was so hospitable always saying good morning and hello willing to help in anyway. Ketuts breakfast are so good don't miss out on that. Also, Ketut took us on a awesome day trip to the volcano, coffee plantation, and rice fields. We absolutely loved it. I totally recommend this place. Great place to ease your way into Bali life.
I really enjoyed the stay with Ketuts family and highly recomend it. We learnt so much about Bali people and vilage life. Ketut has taken us to the morning market and it was really graet experience. We only stayed 2 nights but we already alterated our trip to come back to. If you want to see a real Bali you will be happy to stay there. The vilage is like 40 min walking from ubud but the taxi costs only 3€ so its mo probleme.
My girlfriend and I had the best 10 days ever in Ubud at Ketut place. Everything was great and Ketut is really the perfect host. The house is very comfortable with all the amenities needed. It is located 10 minutes from Ubud center by motobike. The place is really quiet and after a day in the busy and noisy Ubud it is perfect to relax. The house is surounded by nice gardens and Ketut's family houses. Everybody was so nice with us and we felt here like home in the real Bali. Complementary breakfast is provided every morning in the common area if you want and Ketut can arrange anything for you (motorbike rental, visits or just some advice about Ubud highlights). We strongly recommend to rent a motorbike because Ubud area is full of beautiful temples and rice fields, easely accessible with the bike. Futhermore riding on bali's small roads was a great experience and a lot of fun! We definitely recommend staying at Ketut's place, and don't forget to ask for Ketut's niece massage, her hands are just magical!
We spent six lovely days in the Payogan Homestay Bungalow. Ketut and his family were extremely gracious and welcoming, and Ketut was very attentive and helpful in planning our various excursions around Ubud. If you want to stay inside a traditional Balinese family compound and have access to the very best local knowledge, this bungalow is for you. We would happily stay here again the next time we're in Ubud. Thank you Ketut for making our stay a memorable one! We appreciate all your help and advice.
