Experience authentic, Balinese life. The Payogan Homestay Bungalow is located within our traditional, Balinese family compound, only 2 kilometers north of Ubud. Newly constructed, this one bedroom house is cool and airy, built in the traditional Balinese style. Situated towards the back of the compound, it has it’s own fenced and landscaped yard and an expansive porch from which to sit peacefully and relax, enjoying the view. The Bungalow offers privacy and space yet you will still wake up to the traditional sounds of Bali and experience the essence of staying in a Balinese village.
The Bungalow includes a full kitchen that opens up to a beautiful and unique outdoor platform overlooking the garden, from which to dine or practice yoga. The essence of this home within our compound is that it is not only private, it is also customizable for your needs. There is a second room separate from the cool and shady bedroom that can serve as an office or indoor sitting room, however you please. Additionally, the home is well equipped with modern amenities for a comfortable and well connected stay with free wifi, and brand new air conditioning, as well as plenty of electrical outlets for all of your devices. There is a beautiful bathroom with a lovely tiled floor, stone carved sink, soaking tub and plenty of hot and cold water and throughout the Bungalow are traditional artistry and antique Balinese wood furnishings, reflecting the intrinsic connection to spirituality and the environment, an inherent part of Balinese life. Every detail of the bungalow seeks to promote comfort, peace and restoration.
Living in a Balinese family compound means that you will have many friendly neighbors. The compound is home to a large extended family, all of whom are very involved in traditional Balinese life, and committed to our village ceremonies, many of which take place in our family temple. We welcome you to participate if you choose. In fact, we encourage our guests to join us to get the true feeling of Balinese culture. We can always help you through the experience and provide the traditional wear.

Ketut and his family were incredibly friendly and nice from the first moment we moved into their peaceful area. The studio is very clean and you can find anything you need to make yourself feel like you are home. Ketut has a motorbike for rent so it was very easy for me to move around.
I love Ubud and will definitely come back to stay at Ketut's place sometimes in the future.
Payogan Homestay was exactly as advertised - a delightful and relaxing opportunity to live in a fascinating and dynamic family compound on the north side of Ubud. I stayed here three weeks, enjoying the town and also working from my little studio at the homestay. The atmosphere was always relaxed and welcoming. Ketut's family took care of me well, cleaning my room every day or two, providing me with a water bottle and maps, and even renting me a scooter at a low price for getting around Ubud. I love the location in Payogan, a small village just outside of the Ubud hubbub but only a 10-12 minute scooter ride down to Yoga Barn. Here you'll really get a sense of what life is like for Ubud's families. Ketut is funny, helpful and concerned. And if I wanted my privacy, he gave me plenty of space. I also enjoyed being able to jog right out the front door and be just a mile away from Campuhan Ridge, one of the nicest green spaces in all of Ubud. I plan to return to Ubud this spring and I definitely hope to stay here again.
I had an awesome time at Ketut's family compound! It's a special type of luxury to have a very local and personalized experience while also enjoying a beautiful private space for yourself. The room had a special loft-like design being quite spacious with open views into nature. Ketut's presence, along with the rest of his family really added to the experience. Such warm, respectful and reliably helpful people. It was a privilege to be part of the family!
Had a great time staying in Ketut’s Payogan Homestay just wished I was there a little longer. Location is on the outskirts of Ubud in a very authentic small village. Town is a quick 5-10minute scooter ride away. Felt very safe. Bungalow was towards the back of the family compound and felt quite private and overlooked your own little garden. Sitting in the ‘outside’ room watching the rain & storms was so relaxing. Bungalow had everyone one needs. Bed was comfortable. Bedroom had air conditioning although didn’t use much and never needed it at night when I was there. Ketut was an excellent host. He responded to messages before my stay so quickly and organised transfers to and from airport/Seminyak - he was a first class communicator. Ketut was not only friendly, his english was excellent and he quickly helped me with tips of how to get about and what to see. Nothing was ever too much trouble - he was an awesome host. I can’t finish this review without mentioning breakfast. Similar to other reviews, the morning banana pancakes are to die for - they were so yummy. Thank you Ketut.
Wonderful cottage to land in! It's clean, private and cozy. Air conditioning works really well and the bed is very comfortable. There is a beautiful front yard to look out over from the covered porch. The Homestay is just far enough away from the main part of Ubud to offer peace and tranquilly, yet close enough to get there (about 10 minutes) when you need or want it. Ketut and his sons make it easy to get transport if you don't have your own. The grounds are very beautiful. Lovely, lovely family to host your stay. I can't recommend enough!
Ketut is super friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed staying here so much! It is a bit outside Ubud city center, but for us, this was only a plus, since the centre of Ubud is VERY busy and crowded.
There is a temple just down the road which, for me, gave the place a mystical ambience. Ketut told us about good places to go, what we could expect paying for things and the like. When you are like us, two clueless Norwegians travelling far away, things like that are crucial.
The space is nice, cozy and had everything we needed.
Our 6-days stay was just fabulous! Ketut and his family were very welcoming and helpful. They made our Bali experience unforgettable, thanks to their recommendations we explored the region by foot (to and inside Ubud), by scooter (around Ubud) and with Ketut's nephew as our car driver we went to climb Mount Batur, diving in Amed, visited several splendid temples... And in the night we relaxed in the peaceful Payogan homestay. Ketut's place is definitely recommendable!
