This room is furnished with a full size bed for 2, a desk, closet, large mirror and AC. This is a very sunny room, very accurate to the picture that is provided. The room is located at the front of the building. This room can be a bit noisy from foot traffic at times, specifically in the warmer months. A set of ear plugs are provided should the noise be a bother; it's occasional but I like to be very clear for guests. I have 2 other rooms available under "My Other Listings", that are very quiet. This is a great room for the price!
Guests will have access to the fully equipped kitchen, shared bathroom with shower, washer/dryer and backyard/garden.
Interaction with Guests
3 other rooms in the apartment are rented on this site. You may have interactions with other guests in the common areas. I work very long days so you may only see me on occasion. My roommate Dave is home more often, he serves as a host when I am not available. You can view my other rooms under the "Other Listings" section.
The neighborhood is a Puerto Rican immigrant community. Mixed with old gritty industrial areas and new luxury buildings. All kinds of creative types have been filing into Bushwick and a considerable amount of trendiness is trickling in from its ultra-hip neighbor to the west, Williamsburg. New dive bars, bodegas, and gallery spaces continue to flourish, fueled by the intrepid movers and shakers that are pouring into Bushwick’s converted loft spaces. Although Bushwick is busy reinventing itself, a somewhat grungy heart still beats beneath its remodeled exterior. The Neighborhood Is Very Safe. I have been here for 10 years without any issues. My guests have never had any issues as well. There are many people around on the streets at all hours. We are right next to the train for those who are out late in the evening as well.
We are 1 block away from the Dekalb stop L train, 15 minutes to the city and a few blocks away from the JMZ train. USE HOPSTOP FOR SUBWAY DIRECTIONS! It is also available as an app. This will tell you much more clear detailed instructions on getting here from the airport and getting around the city in general. The house is approximately: 20 minutes away from LaGuardia Airport 25 minutes away from JFK Airport 35-45 minutes away from Newark Airport (these are average times with minimal traffic)
Other Things to Note
The rooms are cleaned before arrival and upon exit. Fresh linens and towels are provided. I do not provide toiletries. The bathroom is shared and can be busy at times in the morning, I like to remind all guests to please keep bathroom time to a minimum for other guests. Check in time is 2:00. Check out time is 12:00 NOON. I unfortunately do not store luggage or personals after checkout time. The earliest guests can arrive is 2:00 to allow former guests to depart and rooms to be cleaned. There is a quick turnover with guests and exchanging keys is difficult with my work. Please arrange travel accordingly. Profile pictures are very helpful to have up; it's nice to have a face with a name. (I Unfortunately Do Not Allow Guests Under The Age Of 18 Or Guests With Serious Medical Conditions).

Mark's place is really convenient and safe. I had a great trip in NYC and partly it is because of a good place to stay at. The L train is literally around the corner of less than 2 minutes walk and it will take you into Manhattan in around 20 minutes. The neighbourhood is very unique, you definitely see some lower income immigrants trying to make a new life, and young hipsters sipping coffee at the coffee shop near by. Also, it's a short walk to Knickerbocker Ave where you can find some interesting shops and murals. As it is NYC, don't rent a car. Cars won't get you anywhere (it's not LA) and definitely no place to park. The house is so close by to the subway it's very safe to walk late at night. I returned a couple times around 11pm by myself and I was fine. The room is a bit noisy since it's facing the street, but you get more sunlight. Mark do offer other quieter rooms. The bathroom, kitchen and common area are super clean. And you can use the washer and dryer too. Mark is not home most of the time but he responds to problems really quickly, I did saw his roommate who helped me with the door. He is also very welcoming, and checking with you occasionally. The keys are really easy to retrieve as well. To summarize, I had a great experience here and I would definitely return in the future.
Mark was a total joy to stay with! My fiancé and I stayed with Mark while we were apartment hunting for two weeks. Our bedroom was quite the wonderful little getaway when we would get home late at night after walking the entire city. The bathroom was always super clean, as well as the kitchen. There was laundry in the unit, so we were able to take care of that whenever we needed! We didn't see Mark often, but when we did, he was a total gentleman; he even offered to help us find a place to live! We would definitely stay with Mark again. :)
Everything was good. I enjoyed staying at Mark's home: nice bathroom; high ceiling, clean, well color coordinated and sunny bedroom; adequately equipped kitchen; and convenient location. On Friday afternoon when my husband and I arrived at the community, we were surprised that the street was full of people in festive mode, but at night and after, the street became quiet until Monday morning when we left. I enjoyed cooking, also sandwich at the corner store was very good.
I liked my stay at Marks place very much. It is a nice neighbourhood with a lot of life, and the room is nice. I would recommend it to other people.
Marc was really a nice and helpful host. When i had questions, i received a quick response! The description for entering the room was easy and comfortable. The room was clean, well prepared (tourist maps etc...) and really nice. Bushwick is more than exiting!
We had a good time at Mark's place. Everything was as described. We didn't meet Mark in person but he made sure that everything was ok.
