Private Room in Bay View Home

House - Private room · Barlow Lane, Morro Bay, CA 93442, United States

Light-filled home has sweeping views of the bay, dunes, and ocean from living room and deck. Enjoy tropical ambiance in a clean, uncluttered home, or yoga on the large sunny deck. Walk blocks to beach, bluffs, marina, state park & golf course.

The Space

Quiet room is a dedicated guest room, furnished with a comfortable queen bed with down comforter & pillows, writing desk, and counter-height table for laptop work. There is ample storage, including empty closet with drawers. The two bedrooms are separated by the bathroom for a bit more privacy. There is additional storage in bath, which is shared by me as a single tenant.

Guest Access

You will have full access to the rest of the home. Kitchen has an open floor plan with small dining area, dishwasher, refrigerator with plenty of room, cupboard for your food, nice working area for cooking, and all the kitchen things one could use (including juicer). My room is not available to guests.

Interaction with Guests

I will be very happy to suggest local attractions and activities, and cook you a healthful, hot breakfast if requested (for small additional fee). I will probably be around if you are using the kitchen in the evening, so we will need to coordinate timing preferences.

The Neighborhood

This is a quiet, clean, beach neighborhood within walking distance of the downtown embarcadero with its many restaurants, galleries, and shops. The Monarchs know the best time to come to Morro Bay, and winter within blocks of here. Fall & winter sunsets can be spectacular at Morro Rock, less than 2 miles away via level bike ride.

This area stands out for its nature and wildlife. Miles of beaches offer great surfing and walking. Endangered sea otters and peregrine falcons can be viewed at Morro Rock. Beautiful Montana de Oro State Park (featured on Sunset magazine's cover this summer) is 10 miles south with many miles of hiking and horse trails, cliff views of the ocean, and Spooner’s Cove where dolphins, pelicans, and sea otters frolic. The largest elephant seal colony in the U.S. is 30 miles north near Hearst Castle.

Getting around

SLO County bus transport is available from the Embarcadero area.

With Cal Poly only 12 miles away, this is an ideal location for parents visiting their students, who want to be more comfortable and enjoy the surrounding beauty of the area. San Luis Obispo also provides city entertainment with its abundant live music, art, shopping, and restaurants.

Other Things to Note

I have two older, mostly decorative, tabby cats, so this is not a good fit for those with allergies.

Entire house may be available to the right family who loves cats. The living room has a new, comfortable memory foam fold-out queen couch that could accommodate 2 children or other non-couples.

Wifi passcode will be given upon arrival.

  • We real enjoyed our brief stay at Janet's. The house is very well located, with a very beautiful view on the bay. We slept tight, thanks to the confortable bed and really appreciate many little thoughts : Janet kindly cooked breakfast for us. She also did her best to make sure we had nice diner on the embarcadero. We definitely recommend to stay at her house!

  • Janet helped to make our short visit to Morro Bay very enjoyable. She is a friendly and helpful host who made us very welcome in her comfortable and well placed home. Janet encouraged us to take a walk at Point Buchon, a beautiful stretch of coast, that was a highlight of our visit.

  • We had a great stay at Janet's place. She keeps a really nice home, and was a very warm host. Eating breakfast and drawing pictures out on her deck has already proven to be one of the strongest and most pleasant memories of our trip. Warmth, warmth, warmth.

  • Our stay with Janet in Morro Bay was very pleasant and cozy- great temporary home away from home! Janet was a very attentive and hands-on host and provided us with lots of ideas of places to eat and explore- not only in Morro Bay but in the surrounding areas too. The room was clean and comfortable, as was the bathroom. Janet was very generous and made us feel welcome.
The location of the apartment was ideal- right in the middle of beautiful California coast and rolling green hills.

  • What a lovely and relaxing stay I had with Janet and her cats! The house is clean, airy, bright, quiet and very soothing. From the beautiful sunlight, to the soothing music and quiet neighborhood, it was just what I needed. Janet is a kind and helpful hostess. Her home is within walking distance of the Morro Bay Embarcadero and all the great restaurants and shops, not to mention the bay, beach and The Rock. I felt very safe there. Thank you Janet for making my stay in the area wonderful.

  • Janet is an intriguing, intelligent, and engaging woman and I really enjoyed the time I spent in her home. She lives a green philosophy which I really appreciate. She went out of her way to promptly respond to my last minute request and was excellent in her communication. She is rich in ideas and information on things to do in and around Morro Bay.

The home is small, clean and comfortable. Great view of the bay from the front corner widows. I must say, the guest bed was hands down the most comfortable and best sleep I got on my entire vacation.

Morro Bay is a special little town where the sea otters, seals and sea lions all call home. I'm so happy to have found Janet's place and hope to stay with her again in the future.

  • Janet was an amazing host. She went out of her way to share Morro Bay with me, joining me for sunset beach walks and being very accommodating. Her place was clean and nicely decorated. The location is excellent. The Morro Bay Beach is just minutes aways for walking/jogging, the quaint downtown embacardo area is close by as well offering great coffee shops and lesser known fresh, delicious food. The view from Janet's Deck is excellent!!!

  • Great for cat lovers! Janet and her two cats were welcoming and accommodating. Janet went out of her way to provide suggestions for activities and made us feel quite at home. We had easy walking access to a small park and trail along the bay and the Embarcadero shops and restaurants. It's only a 10 minute drive to Montana del Oro State Park, which has some great hikes. Our room was roomy and comfortable. We slept with the window open and were plenty warm. We enjoyed the wonderful bay view from the deck.
