This cottage was exactly as advertised! My cousin and I stayed for the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the surrounding views and quiet. While secluded, it was a quick and beautiful twenty minute drive to get to the downtown Charlottesville area.
The key dropbox made check-in and check-out a breeze. Roseanne texted me to confirm our arrival the day of, and she made it very clear that she was available by phone or text if we had any questions or concerns.
We loved sitting on the little deck to have breakfast, read, and watch for deer grazing in the little valley below. We would definitely stay here again if the opportunity arose!
Even through the wreaths wasn't the best, we enjoyed very much our little, cozy cottage. Warm fire, quiet surroundings, very relaxing
My boyfriend and I reserved the cottage for the weekend. We loved the tranquil surroundings and the indoor fireplace. My boyfriend really appreciated the coffee maker. The cottage is a short drive the downtown Charlottsville.
We enjoyed our stay at Bailey's Retreat! The place feels remote (we watched deer feeding at dusk every night, no concerns about privacy, windows looked out on mountains woods) but it is actually a quick drive to downtown as well as area attractions.
Place itself has two nicely appointed bedrooms, a dining room table, a basic but completely adequately furnished kitchen, and a great fireplace. Our favorite evening activity was watching Netflix "House of Cards" with a roaring fire and a bottle of wine. They provided starter logs and plenty of firewood so that part was super easy. The wifi as well gets a great signal - there is no TV but we had no problem using Netflix or HBO Go without any issues.
Overall, friendly hosts, great location, relaxing spot with fireplace, well furnished, and quick access to all the attractions as well as hiking. We would stay here again. And we saved a ton of money by eating some meals in in their cabin kitchen.
This cute place was tucked back quite away but the GPS took us there no problem. It was about 23 minutes from Blue Mountain Brewery which is where we had dinner. It was a perfect place to crash for a short business trip. The kitchen was stocked with a coffee maker and coffee and the fireplace was a nice bonus. We weren't expecting internet because it seemed so remote but there was wireless and we were able to stream HBO Go.
Located just a few minutes outside of Charlottesville, Bailey's Retreat is quite a treat for a quick weekend getaway if you want to both shop and dine in the city and relax and enjoy the tranquil stillness of the Shenandoah Valley. Clean and modern with a rustic and quaint vibe at the same time, Bailey's Retreat has everything you need, from an amazing wood burning fireplace to comfy beds and a fully stocked kitchen, Surrounded by views that are sure to inspire and wineries that beckon for a visit, you really won't be disappointed. Rosanne and Bill are in the process of adding even more amenities and will be sure to take care of you and yours as if you were family. We will definitely visit again when we can stay a little longer and explore a little more.
Cute little cottage in pretty and quiet surroundings. Roseanne and Bill are great people and were very accommodating to us. We stayed in the dead of winter - one of the coldest in a long time, and they provided us with an abundance of wood for the fireplace. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen equipped with the necessities. One thing, Is that we would have preferred more eco-friendly cleaning products. We highly recommend!
We had a nice stay here and enjoyed how quiet it was and the coziness of the cottage. The place was exactly as shown in the photos and surrounded by nature. If you are looking for a place away from the main core of Charlottesville and a little retreat this is a great place.
My girlfriend and I had the most pleasant stay at Roseanne and Bill's quaint and contemporary cottage outside Charlottesville. The drop box made the key exchange easy and convenient. We were pleasantly surprised to arrive to a plate of delicious homemade cookies. The cottage was clean and inviting, and the fireplace created a warm and cozy atmosphere. We especially enjoyed the location with its' beautiful rolling hills and peaceful trails. Roseanne also offered wonderful recommendations regarding activities to do in the local area. We would definitely stay here again!
This cottage was definitely a jewel. It was Tuck away in a little hiding place but very easy to fine. The bed was very comfy and the Cottage had all that you needed to just relax and enjoy your stay. My girlfriend cannot stop talking about the fireplace and how she enjoyed laying in front of it as she drunk her wine from Veritas winery. Just miles from the Cottage. You also have grocery stores and restaurants in town just miles from the cottage which was perfect. I'm so looking forward to Returning soon. Thanks for the homemade baked cookies and happy New Year's.
