To get to the next public bus station and to the center of Manuel Antonio you have to walk over an unsealed road about 15 minutes or use a car/taxi.
Very good host, and good appartment too. A little hard to find but not a show stopper. It is outside of the very noisy and crowed places like Quepos and manual Antonio which is good. It is very safe too. The rent is as described, basically new, very clean. Ivania was very helpful and available.
This is a great find- a spotlessly clean studio apartment (there are three nearly identical apartments, actually). It appears to be fairly new or newly renovated, with air conditioning, flat screen TV and DSL-speed WiFi (great for most things).
The apartment is spacious and well equipped- a small refrigerator, hot plate, kitchen area with dishes, a small sofa/futon, as well as a firm queen size bed, etc. On this particular trip I did not prepare food in the apartment, but I certainly could have done so.
Ivania was very warm and welcoming- checking in each day to see if there was anything I needed. She speaks wonderful English (important to me as Spanish is not one of my languages) and even went so far as to offer to pick up anything I needed when she was going into town.
This apartment is not on the main drag. For me this was a plus- no traffic noise, and in a much more typical Costa Rican neighborhood. This gave me more of a feel for the country. At the time I visited, the dirt roads running from the main drag were in very poor shape- very rough driving, dusty, etc. The good news is that they are in the midst of pouring the concrete for nice gutters on each side, and pavement will follow. This will make Ivania's apartments even more accessible. In any case, it is a walkable distance to the bus that runs up and down the main drag.
I did not see the Titi monkeys, but I could not miss the sound of the howlers (monkeys). Banana and papaya trees grow right next to the place.
In short, this is a great place to stay if you are willing to get off the beaten path a little bit. If I were to return to the Quepos/Manuel Antonio area, I would ABSOLUTELY book here again. I give this listing FIVE stars for being an outstanding value for the kind of lodging it is.
Many thanks to Ivania for wonderful hospitality!
Manuel Antonio is a must when traveling to Costa Rica. Although it was difficult to find the apartment the first time, do not hesitate to ask people in the neighborhood for Ivania's place and they will lead the way. A car is needed to get around and mostly a 4WD for now (they were doing some construction while we were there, a nice road is soon to come). The apartment feels like home and would please the pickiest of travelers. Very clean and comfortable, a great bang for your buck. Ivania is such a great host. She has genuine care for her guests and is ready to assist with anything at all. To top it all off, she has the most adorable sweetest grandchildren and of course the friendliest dog Lucas :) If you have a car and are looking for a place in Manuel Antonio, this is the place! You will not be disappointed. It is very close to Biensaz beach with is magnificent and close to Manuel Antonio National Park (all driving distance)
This place is tucked a bit off the main road through Manuel Antonio off a gravel road that can be quite bumpy, you could do it with a car but definitely better with an SUV.
The drive in isn't too impressive and many of the houses around are not in good shape, but don't let it fool you! Once there, the place is great!
New. Clean. Well decorated and outfitted. Was very comfortable to stay in. Ivania is super nice and very helpful.
I would and most likely will stay here again next time I'm in Manuel Antonio. Stayed at many places in Costa Rica and this is possibly the cleanest and nicest.
Ivania is an amazing host! Very welcoming, supportive and amicable. We highly recommend her place, especially for those that want the local traveler experience and are able-bodied and willing to walk, purchase some basics for cooking and explore. Her place is on the edge of the Manual Antonio park, so you see the beautiful stars and hear the amazing jungle sounds. There is also a great swimming spot (which is challenging to find for non-surfers on the Central Pacific) within a healthy walk and affordable taxi down the hill, or a nice walk for those interested in working their quads out. I can't remember the name of the beach, but it's the non manual antonio beach. We adored it, quintessential tropical hide-away.
The room is very nice and cute but i would highly recommend having a car if you plan to stay here. It is $6.00 one way to catch a taxi because of the condition of the road. Once you have done this a few times, you might as well have gotten a room in town. It is technically walkable to manuel Antonio but it is a long walk down a mountain road that has no sidewalks. Quite a hike on the way back up but doable if you are determined. Basically, if you want a more authentic experience than you would get from a hotel, have your own transportation, and dont mind straying off the beaten path then this is the plAce for you.
Malgré une accessibilité reservée au 4x4, nous arrivons dans un appartement très satisfaisant : grand, neuf, confortable, pratique et très propre ! Notre hôte était adorable et très disponible.

I am from Costa Rica and love to travel. My favourite country is Switzerland.
Before starting my own business I had worked in 2 major hotels and a Spanish language school her in Manuel Antonio. My hobbies are reading (Paulo Coelho) and cine (all kinds of humor). I also like cooking, traditional Costa Rica food.
