Neighborhood highlights

Your apartment is steps from downtown, yet it's on a quiet tree-lined street in a typical New England neighborhood with old Victorians, gardens, and people out walking their dogs.

Walk out the door and you are two blocks, 5 minutes, from Main Street with its numerous well-known restaurants, shops, cafes, bars, breweries, and dispensaries. You are three minutes’ walk from the historic grand old Hotel Northampton, and Northampton's three-season farmers' market is one block away. Four nationally and internationally known live music and entertainment venues are also a short walk from your home-away-from-home.

You are about a 7-minute walk to the Smith College campus where you can visit an art museum and an impressive greenhouse open to the public, or just take a pleasant stroll through the lovely campus which includes a lake and scenic waterfall.

Everything you might need at home is steps from your door. State Street Fruit Store, a neighborhood grocery, deli, and excellent wine shop, is two blocks away at 51 State St. Across the street is Hungry Ghost, an award-winning bakery that turns out the most delicious breads in Massachusetts from their wood-fired ovens every day—until they run out, which can happen anytime.

Sutter's Meat Market, at 65 King St. (an even closer walk from your apartment), sells meats from local farms. If you crave fresh fish, visit North Shore Seafood, our local fish market that gets its fish delivered directly from Boston's fish piers; it's at 166 King St., a five-minute walk from your place. On the way you'll pass our local coffee joint, Shelburne Falls Coffee Roasters, 4 minutes from home.

For restaurants, shops, and nightlife galore, head to the intersection of Main and Pleasant, two blocks away, and explore in any direction.

Lives in Northampton, Massachusetts
My husband Barry and I lived in New York City for ten years, and settled in Northampton where we raised our two grown children. Barry owns a "new age" shop in downtown Northampton, and I recently retired as director of a local non-profit. We have traveled extensively, both in the US and abroad. Wendy, co-host for my Amherst and Shelburne apartments, is a mom and grandma, works for a local non-profit, and enjoys traveling with her boyfriend.
