The Riad Dar Jnane was absolutely wonderful. The house itself is amazing, so beautifully decorated and homely. Everyone was so helpful, breakfast was lovely, the house was always so clean, even when we had left a bit of a mess around, and great local walking, and driving tours were offered for a very reasonable price. I would highly recommend this option for anyone looking to stay in Fes.
Mohamed was a great host, we call him many times for different subjects and he was always very helpfull. The house is amazing and the dayly breakfast perfect. The neighborhood is the old predictable one in the Medina, just a laberinth of small streets where you can get easily lost, wich is one of the main attraction of the old city, at least for me.
We had a very positive experience staying at Riad Dar Jnane. We were met at Fez station by Simohammed and driven to the closest point of the Medina for the walk to Dar Jnane. We were assisted with our bags and thankful for help in finding the riad. Put simply it was a privilege to be able to stay within the medina in a well equipped authentic dar. Everything was as described and the high ceilinged rooms were delightfully spacious and cool. Fresh squeezed orange juice, bread and coffee for breakfast. Close by food vendors in the medina, adequate if basic kitchen. Excellent showers and many beds which we did not use.
We were assisted to engage a guide and the guide was excellent.
From the moment we all arrived at Fez train stn & met Simohamed, we knew we were in for a treat. Dar Jnane was wonderful......right in the middle of the medina, but incredibly quiet. The terrace for afternoon drinks is fab!!
Once got our bearings we were able to negotiate the lane ways without too much drama. We had the best experience with our "medina-tour" with Khalid. What a treasure he is. We all got an incredible insight into the Islamic tradition & way of life in Fez. All with a wicked sense of humour!! If you get the opportunity to book him take it!!
Our night of "eating in" and having Kadesia cook an amazing tagine was definitely a highlight!! She is a gem!!
We'll have no hesitation in recommending the Dar to everyone. Be prepared for some climbing. Stairs to most levels.
This place is incredible! Way more spacious than the photos let on and just a really beautiful home. Mohammad was so helpful in meeting us to walk through the medina and find the riad, after which we didn't have too much trouble finding it ourselves. He made us tea and helped us organize a trip to the Hamam baths (definitely a must do) and dinners as well. Would absolutely recommend staying here for an incredible, authentic experience.
Incredible host. Simohammad met us at the city gate, showed us the medina, arranged for a driver, and answered our many questions. The house was beautiful and perfect for our group of 6 friends. Amazing breakfast, too. I can't recommend this riad more highly.
