Where you’ll be

Caprese Michelangelo, Toscana, Italy

This is a farming community. Caprese Michelangelo is the birthplace of Michelangelo Buonarroti...the artist who painted the Sistine Chapel. From our house you can go and visit his native home only 5 minutes away by car. There you'll also find the Church of St. John the Baptist and a great restaurant with spectacular views of the Caprese Valley. Food and wine is very reasonable. One can enjoy truffle dishes, porcini, wild boar, homemade pasta, delicious wine and homemade cakes for 20 euros. Nearby there is the famous hike of Saint francis of Assisi and the Monastery of La Verna equally important as Assisi. Lots of hiking trails and hot springs. Great little villages each one with its own tradition and history. In October there is the Chestnut festival in Caprese. Very famous. This is cyclist heaven. The giro l'Italia passes by Caprese and Anghiari making this place a sanctuary for cyclists. Perfect for spiritual retreats such as meditation and Yoga. Amazing for artist retreats such as painting and writing. The sightseeing, the stillness and quiteness will make this place special and inspiring.

Steven is Canadian and Simona is Roman. They live in Vancouver Island, Canada. We bought Casa Michelangelo in 2015 as our italian dream home. We wanted to move back to Italy and we found a very similar landscape here as we have in Canada. Unfortunately life circumstances have changed and we had to change our plans. This is why we have now decided to share this beautiful Villa with others now. We love travelling and Casa Michelangelo gives us the perfect base for our travels. It is quiet and remote but close enough to the hustle and bustle if we feel like it. We hope you will enjoy it too!
Please contact us prior booking as the house could be used by Italian family members at times.
