Interaction with Guests

On this 3 acre land, there is another small space, sometimes rented to guests. It is called 'Glamping' and it is hard to see or hear them due to the distance, topography and vegetation. Glampers and the house do not share any common facilities. At the most, you will see the Glampers car parked at the entrance to the land, and they will walk down the driveway near the house to access their space.
Things we value: the rural nature, peaceful abundance, incredible beauty and landscaping. Amazing beach within a 10-15 min walk down a country lane, and several more world class beaches within bike, moped or short drive distance.
The nearest bus stop is 2 miles away and has bike/ride facilities. Believe it or not, hitchhiking on Kauai is regarded as a safe, effective and accepted local custom.
Other Things to Note
The property is listed for sale and there is a possibility of a showing during your stay. It is likely there will be no effect on you and this will be invisible but you are notified. We will make every effort to let you know the day before but cannot guarantee this. I understand notifying you is the most important thing, so you are informed, not surprised or anything unexpected occurs. A showing will likely be 15-30 min max inside the house, likely to be at a time when you are out anyway, between the hours of 10-5. If you have any questions contact Gregory on my cell numb(phone number hidden). We ask that you do not speak to any of the parties on the showing no matter who they are or what they say or ask. Just pleasantly direct them to speak with Gregory and provide my cell. Thank you for understanding.
Ideally suited for a couple, a couple with 1 or 2 singles, or with preparation on this end, 2 couples. The second bedroom represented is a convertible lanai with a twin size teak bali day bed. This can be modified to be a king bed for a couple. I've had people ask me why I don't sleep there as they think it's the most desirable and beautiful space due to the view and breeze. Things to watch out for: Natural bodies of water, a spiral staircase in the house can be challenging for those with mobility issues or dangerous for small children. Hilly terrain, Hot tub, steep [paved] driveway, intermittent utility outages are common on Kauai. The road into our sub-divison serves high end residences, agricultural estates, and is unpaved. Vegetation, and natural standing water make mosquitos a fact of life here.
We ask our guest to feed the land kitty cat, 'Dosha' She is sweet and will love you for it. She strictly stays outside though as some of us have allergies.

Our party of four thoroughly enjoyed the natural beauty and superb setting of this incredible property. Its location along the northeast side of Kauai puts many of the north shore’s great features into easy walking and driving distance of the home. Gregory is a superb host who provided an invaluable informative manual handy for reference to great locals beaches and restaurants. We relied on his list after trying his first recommendation of Tiki Taco (easy stop on the drive to the house from the Lihue Airport) which we highly recommend! Superb beaches lie within easy driving distance. The house and grounds are impeccably clean and well-kept. Though we encountered some small issues with the property while there, we consulted Gregory and his on-site contact Jennifer, and found them to be swiftly responsive and eager/able to help.
All in all a great place, a fine host, and a wonderful trip. Have already recommended to family and friends. Mahalo!
We had a great vacation and a very relaxing experience.
We thank Gregory for allowing us to stay at
Gregory was perfectly communicative and made us feel very welcome in his home, which was a privilege to stay at.
His home was an amazing getaway and had the kind of personal touch and style we look for - my partner particularly felt connected to the spirtuality of the house.
The house had all the amenities and supplies we needed, great house sound system too.
The best thing I can say in summary is... we would stay there again.
Loved the beautiful cat too!
A couple of tips for the more sensitive sleeper: take earplugs for the crazy chickens and an eye mask for the morning light.
We loved our time at Soul Land. The property is beautiful and very peaceful. We enjoyed the outdoor shower, hot tub, and sweet outdoor kitty. Picking lemons and papayas was an added treat. The home itself was lovely - beautifully furnished and with great kitchen equipment including a Vitamix and a citrus juicer for all of those lemons. To top it off, the bed was AMAZINGLY comfortable.
Kilauea is our favorite part of Kauai (this was our 5th trip to the island). It is located on the eastern edge of the beautiful, lush North Shore but close to Kapaa if we needed to get there for restaurants, groceries, and the sunnier beaches. The beaches in Kilauea are our favorite on the island - quiet, rugged, and just stunning.
Gregory was very communicative, warm and friendly. We had a great experience renting through airbnb for the first time and would stay at Soul Land again without hesitation.
Gregory's Soul Land is a sweet, peace-filled retreat on a property alive with fauna, fruit and Dosha the cat.
We loved our stay, from the incredible smoothies that we made mainly from papaya, liliquoi, lemon and other fruit on the property, to the beautiful breezes on the day bed on the lanai, to runs past the adjoining horse pasture out to the lighthouse at Kilauea to the use of so many fun and amazing kitchen appliances.
This is a great, off the beaten path, unplug "I can breathe again" sanctuary...
We had a great experience here. Gregory is very nice and has quite a unique place. Lots of cool art and a great kitchen. Never thought I would enjoy waking up early in the morning, but there is something pleasant about roosters waking you up at the crack of dawn.
It's very peaceful and zen-like out in this area. Part of being out in a remote area like this is there are more bugs than in other places. I would recommend wearing mosquito repellant when you go outside.
Overall, our week here was wonderful and I would highly recommend staying here.
Gregory and Jen were great, they made it easy to just show up and relax. Lauren and I stayed here for our honeymoon, and this house at the end of a quiet dirt road was just the place we needed. Privacy was a big deal for us, and it felt like our very own sanctuary for the week. The house was exactly as advertised, beautifully appointed and comfortable! Jen was super responsive for check-in + out, and was a quick text message away if we needed anything. If you're looking to escape the typical Hawaii resort/condo experience and make your own way on Kauai, this is absolutely the place to do it.
The only note we have is that the glamping site on the property is closer to the house than we understood from the description. There wasn't anyone there while we stayed in the house, so the property was very private. But, you can clearly see the main tent from the back side of the house. If someone happens to be staying there at the same time, you're definitely sharing the property. This isn't a deal-breaker if privacy isn't one of your main concerns, but an important note nonetheless.
We'd go back in a heartbeat (and wish we were still there!).
