Beach Cleaves: You’ll have a comfy room and your own bathroom in a quiet neighborhood. Our backyard has hot tub, small swimming pool. We are close to airport, convention ctr, and SAP Ctr. Restaurants are walkable. We are friendly, helpful hosts.
Welcome to Beach Cleaves, our cozy, calm home. You will have a private room and will (almost always) be the only one using a bathroom down the hall. The bed is a regular size (smaller than a queen/king).
Your room has a ceiling fan, plenty of closet space, a desk and chair. A chaise lounge doubles as a bed for small children. There is a full-length mirror and speakers for your music player/phone.
A wonderful outdoor hot tub will soothe your muscles and soul. The foliage-filled private backyard provides a nice retreat for relaxing or sunning; in warmer weather please enjoy the small solar-heated swimming pool.
For stays of a week or longer, we will offer a discount of about 10%. For groups of 3-4, we can make an additional bedroom available via a special offer of $145 for both rooms. If interested, please let us know and we'll extend an offer.
Shared space includes a living room and family room/kitchen that are available for your use, including a fireplace. We offer free use of the washer/dryer and full use of the kitchen. We will make room in the fridge and cabinets for your food. Naturally (being in Silicon Valley), wifi is available, and you can use our laser printer. We have forced air heat so you will remain warm in the winter. In hot weather the central air conditioning will cool you.
Your bedroom is not perfect: One window has a crack and cannot be opened, and the carpet has a few small stains. The privacy hedge outside your room’s windows blew down this winter. Until the new plants fill in, the room overlooks a neighbor’s driveway and house when the shades are up. We have no television for broadcast or cable programs; instead we stream to our computers.
Guests are welcome to use the kitchen, family room, living room, and laundry. In the backyard, enjoy teh hot tub, swimming pool, outdoor shower, and back deck.
Interaction with Guests
We will welcome you as our guest and help you with your needs and questions. We are friendly and sociable and will converse if you like. If you prefer solitude, we will not be Chatty Cathy. Your small children stay for free.
The house is set in a quiet, safe neighborhood yet nestled in an awesome location. We are just a mile from downtown San Jose and a few miles from the airport.
There are numerous restaurants/coffee shops within a 10-15 minute walk:
- high end: Cuban and Japanese;
- midrange: Mexican, fish, Italian Chinese;
- inexpensive: pizza, taqueria, Mexican
The San Jose (Diridon) train station and light rail are nearby (8 minute walk), and we are close to major freeways. The SAP Center is a 12 minute walk. The downtown convention center is a short ride on light rail, or a 1-mile walk. A convenience store and park are just around the corner. We have driveway parking if you have a car (permits are required for the street).
No glass anywhere near the hot tub or pool please. We have plastic wine and other glasses for use in the hot tub and pool. No smoking inside the house; smoking outside is fine.
We take our shoes off when inside the house.
Please be reasonably quiet late at night.
Please conserve energy by turning lights off when not in room, and turning off the porch light when you come in at night.
We are flexible with check-in an check-out times.
No hosting parties.
Hosting one or two additional visitors in the day time is generally OK if they don't sleepover, but we reserve the right to approve individual situations on a case-by-case basis
My family and me had a very good stay at Marc and Lindas place, they provided us an accomodation for 4 (during the day 5) peoples! The house was as described on the pictures! We could use the kitchen for cooking and the fridge for putting our stuff inside. Also there were fruits for everyone provided by the hosts. There is a grocery store and a pharmacy in walking distance as well as the caltrain and VTA station, so very easy to come along. We would stay there again!
The room and home were just as pictured and the bed was comfortable. Closing the window in the bedroom is tricky, so we left it open the entire time, including one evening when the people next door were enjoying a sporting event (a little too loudly!). Marc and Linda were very friendly and tried very hard to make our experience pleasant and enjoyable. They brew coffee every morning, some food is available, and there is always space in the fridge for leftovers. Communication was a bit odd at times, primarily after we arrive. Linda had let us know there would be other guests in the house on our final night and that we would be sharing a bathroom. I think all of the guests were surprised to learn that Linda and Marc would be staying at a hotel that night to make room for them, but all worked out well. Would stay again.
This room is a short walk from the CalTrain through nice neighborhoods. The house, although old, is clean & quiet, the room was comfortable, the bathroom nicely updated & clean. I'm afraid I arrived a bit early & interrupted Linda's rest, but she was very gracious about it.
The pillows provided were very nice (not some flat old pancakes), the bath towels were the thickest I've ever seen, & hosts were incredibly quiet. I got a good night's rest & I had a lovely visit with Mark over coffee in the morning.
Linda and Marc were excellent hosts, very friendly and accommodating. The house was clean, the room exceeded my expectations. The location was perfect for walking to the conference at the SAP center, with a pharmacy and a store for healthy foods nearby in addition to restaurants within close walking distance, and downtown a little further. Cute quiet neighborhood. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Linda and Marc are awesome and genuinely nice people. They were the perfect host. Room was described very accurately and just being there you feel at home. The neighborhood was also nice Good mornings everywhere.
Linda and Marc were very friendly to talk to and kept the room very tidy. The neighborhood was great for a run/walk and Linda and Marc kept a very organized guide of places to eat in the area. I would definitely recommend this place and if I'm back in San Jose I'll come back.
Linda& Marc are great hosts! They gave me a warm welcome & the place was lovely prepared& clean.
I stayed only for one night because I went to a concert at SAP Arena and didn't want to make a travel back. Linda& Marc's place was perfect for that!! I could walk to SAP Arena in about 10 min. and walking to downtown of San Jośe -with all these amazing restaurants- in 15 min. There it's more difficult to decide where to go than finding nothing. I went to a more far away restaurant (about 20 min. walk) called "The vegetarian house" (520 E. Santa Clara St.) for dinner and had the best vegan dinner I ever had. It was just fantastic -also for no vegetarians- !! Completly different, but so great. For my little breakfast I went at the big Whole Market, a 5 min. walk. There they offer fresh smoothies, coffee and more at a separate shop.
Moreover, Linda& Marc had water, coffee& co. available... I just wanted to go out. Linda gave me great hints how to get around & it was easy to get in touch. She was very very friendly & gave good recommondations. Unfortunatally, I did not meet Marc in person, but in any case thank you both for all!! Best wishes Janina
We are a married couple named Linda and Marc. We both work so we aren't usually around Monday - Friday during the day. We like gardening, the beach, and swimming in the summer. We currently are watching a silly show called "Rules of Engagement". We've had a few lovely vacations in Hawaii and look forward to our next trip there.
We will enjoy chatting if you like, or we will leave you to yourself. We are friendly and flexible.
