Hola! An opportunity to stay in our lovely Cusco house in a beautiful double room with an outstanding view across the city & valley. We are located in the popular San Blas area, close to the centre, and walking distance from Cusco's main sights.
Please read everything before booking. Even if you have read one of my other listings, sometimes they are different.
Our spacious double room is furnished and overlooks the city of Cusco and the valley beyond. In a quiet residential area close to the city centre, and within walking distance of all Cusco´s major archaeological sites, Casa Mirador is the perfect place to stay.
This is a quiet but social house, with 7 rooms and a great mix of people from all over the world: Europe, America, Peru, Australia, Japan, etc... Some work here, some are just passing through. But together we keep the place nice for all of us and it´s a friendly place. If you are looking for a home for your stay in Cusco then this is the place for you. If you prefer to be waited on hand & foot in a formal environment, then please try the Monestario Hotel!

Interaction with Guests
We can provide local information and help with your stay in the area. If you would like, we can sometimes show you some of the key areas in the town.
You can choose how much you want to socialise with the other people who live here. We sometimes go out together and there are 3 common areas, the living room, the veranda and the kitchen. We usually find that people who like socialising meet together, but if you prefer your stay to be a bit quieter, then you can retire to your room. The choice is yours.
The property is located in a quiet & safe residential area with small shops & huge Inka stone and garden where people sit and relax. There is private security patrolling the area at night and it is one of the better areas of the city. There is very little traffic here so there are no honking horns and the air is fresh. But you are close enough to walk to all the major places of the city.
San Blas market 3 mins walk.
San Blas square 5 mins walk.
Plaza de Armas 10 mins walk.
Sachsayhuman 20 mins walk.
Transport to Pisac & Sacred Valley 10 mins walk.
Bus to airport 5 mins walk.
Taxi from bus station or airport around 4-10 soles, depending on how good your haggling is!!
Please note that although there are 2 walls with windows in the room, a new structure is being built outside one window. The worst of the work has already been completed, and the builders have been instructed not to start too early in the morning. The views from the room through the other window remain outstanding.
Cusco is built in a valley between 2 mountain ranges. Most residential areas are up from the centre, as this house is. We usually walk to & from the town, but when necessary, taxis can be hailed to bring you home. From the road there are some steps up to the door so if you have mobility questions, please ask.
Other Things to Note
Sorry for the strict cancellation policy. Because our rooms are often taken on a long term basis, cancellations hit us hard so we have to implement this.
Please note that although there are 2 walls with windows in the room, a new structure is being built outside one window. This window is very small. The majority of the work has already been completed, and is mostly internal now. The views from the room through the other window remain outstanding.
Please remember that this is a home, not a hotel, even if you're only staying a few days. It's actually several homes all within the same building. Many people live here long-term and we all live our own lives. In order that the house runs nicely for all of us, we all clean up after ourselves...you too! We have a cleaner that comes in once a week, so there are no chores, just respect for all the guests and that we all want a nice place to stay. And it is. Almost everybody that has stayed here has respected this and we are so grateful to them.
That goes for noise too. Most of us socialise, but not all at the same time, so keep noise to a minimum if you come in late at night or leave early morning.
Please keep your room in decent order and respect the items provided. Damages must be paid for. You are renting the room as you would in a home, not a hostel, environment. Your room will be clean when you move in, and equipment is provided for you to maintain this. If you don't have time to clean your room then you can ask our cleaner and pay her independently.
Similarly with bedding, we provide this, and a towel if you need one, but we don't have enough for spares, so if you are staying long term, you can launder the sheets as needed.
No smoking in the house.
And, enjoy your time in Cusco!
Amenable hosts and enjoyable stay. Especially good value for money and would recommend to others.
Cat was around to give directions even though I arrived in Cusco very early in the morning. The hosts were very accommodating and had plenty of contacts/ideas for things to do. There were plenty of other people (generally long stay residents) whom we met staying there.
Just a few things to be aware of:
The house is around a 15minute walk from the main square, and the walk back to the house is steep. For me the exercise was a plus but just be warned that with the altitude this can leave you out of breath, especially after a night out.
Also, note that the hosts and other residents, in my experience, were all British or american. They all know the area well, and it makes it easier to communicate and meet people (and it feels safe), but may be something worth knowing.
I thought toilet paper/towels could be more readily available, particularly when staying several days. These were available when requested for so no biggie.
I stayed at Cat's house for 2 days before connecting with my trekking group. I came down with severe altitude sickness and Cat was extremely accommodating and helpful in all respects. I loved the house and San Blas area. The sofa on the terrace with beautiful view of Cussco helped me get better. Thank you Cat and JJ. With fond memories, Irena
This is what I love about travelling !!!! My 7 yr old son and I stayed with Cat & JJ for over a wk, extending our original stay. Hi we are a friendly international house, with people from the UK, Norway, Luxembourg, USA, Japan, Puerto Rico, Australia, etc. My husband and I came from Britain and fell in love with Cusco. We wanted to rent a house and stay here, and when we saw this one we knew that it was the one for us. We spent 2 months bringing up to standard, eg by ripping out the old 'Cusco' electric showers, and fitting brand new and super-hot ones, decorating, and building a kitchen with modern amenities where people who love cooking feel happy. The result is something unique in Cusco, a house where people live because they want a real home, and where people take pride to keep it clean and tidy for us all to use.
We have a variety of interests, but one thing is constant: that we love travelling & meeting people. This is a relaxed & sociable house. You are welcome to join us.
