This is a quiet but social house, with 7 rooms and a great mix of people from all over the world: Europe, America, Peru, Australia, Japan, etc... Some work here, some are just passing through. But together we keep the place nice for all of us and it´s a friendly place. If you are looking for a home for your stay in Cusco then this is the place for you. If you prefer to be waited on hand & foot in a formal environment, then please try the Monestario Hotel!

Interaction with Guests
We can provide local information and help with your stay in the area. If you would like, we can sometimes show you some of the key areas in the town.
You can choose how much you want to socialise with the other people who live here. We sometimes go out together and there are 3 common areas, the living room, the veranda and the kitchen. We usually find that people who like socialising meet together, but if you prefer your stay to be a bit quieter, then you can retire to your room. The choice is yours.
The property is located in a quiet & safe residential area with small shops & huge Inka stone and garden where people sit and relax. There is private security patrolling the area at night and it is one of the better areas of the city. There is very little traffic here so there are no honking horns and the air is fresh. But you are close enough to walk to all the major places of the city.
San Blas market 3 mins walk.
San Blas square 5 mins walk.
Plaza de Armas 10 mins walk.
Sachsayhuman 20 mins walk.
Transport to Pisac & Sacred Valley 10 mins walk.
Bus to airport 5 mins walk.
Taxi from bus station or airport around 4-10 soles, depending on how good your haggling is!!
Cusco is built in a valley between 2 mountain ranges. Most residential areas are up from the centre, as this house is. We usually walk to & from the town, but when necessary, taxis can be hailed to bring you home. From the road there are some steps up to the door so if you have mobility questions, please ask.
Other Things to Note
Sorry for the strict cancellation policy. Because our rooms are often taken on a long term basis, cancellations hit us hard so we have to implement this.
Please remember that this is a home, not a hotel, even if you're only staying a few days. It's actually several homes all within the same building. Many people live here long-term and we all live our own lives. In order that the house runs nicely for all of us, we all clean up after ourselves...you too! We have a cleaner that comes in once a week, so there are no chores, just respect for all the guests and that we all want a nice place to stay. And it is. Almost everybody that has stayed here has respected this and we are so grateful to them.
That goes for noise too. Most of us socialise, but not all at the same time, so keep noise to a minimum if you come in late at night or leave early morning.
Please keep your room in decent order and respect the items provided. Damages must be paid for. You are renting the room as you would in a home, not a hostel, environment. Your room will be clean when you move in, and equipment is provided for you to maintain this. If you don't have time to clean your room then you can ask our cleaner and pay her independently.
Similarly with bedding, we provide this, and a towel if you need one, but we don't have enough for spares, so if you are staying long term, you can launder the sheets as needed.
No smoking in the house.
And, enjoy your time in Cusco!
I stayed technically one night, followed by trip out to Machu Picchu, but Cat helped me out the entire 4 days I was in the area. She provided very practical tips on getting around, she even saved my butt by finding my TAM (tarjeta andino migracion) and had excellent advice re the Peru-Bolivian border crossing. By the way, it went super duper well. No hassle what so ever. Even the cabby who drove me to the bus station on the final day asked me if she was my friend! And I said yes! Because she and JJ really treated me as one :)
We spent a wonderful time at Cat and JJ's house! They are full of tips and took care of us even at Christmas time!
Cat's house is so comfortable and welcoming. I had the best sleep during my one week stay with her during all of my travels through Latin America! The view from the bedroom is gorgeous and the bed was so warm and comfortable. Cat and JJ made sure that I felt at home and invited me to events around town. They are two very sweet and caring people. I highly recommend staying at Cat's. It's truly home away from home!
When my girlfriend and I arrived in Cusco, we were welcomed into the apartment with open arms. Cat, our host, had been in contact with us for weeks before we arrived in Peru, making sure we found our way around and kept us from over paying on taxis.
It was a bit of a unique situation when we arrived at the house: My girlfriend had just started feeling sick and soon turned feverish. Our hosts made a pot of coca tea and helped us into our room. We assumed the sickness was from the altitude but when my girlfriend's fever hit around the 40 degree mark, we got scared.
Cat suggested a hospital, called a taxi and even came with us to help translate what the doctor had to say. My girlfriend was fighting a parasite and would have been in serious trouble if Cat hadn't helped us get to the hospital and translate our issues to the nurses.
My girlfriend and I stayed in the hospital for two nights and during that time, Cat made calls to check up on us to see how we were doing.
We got to spend the final night of the three nights we booked at the hostel and it was just as described.
The following day, Cat walked around with us and helped us barter for another hostel (we only booked the room for three nights. Because we missed our Inka trail hike due to the hospital stay, we needed another hostel because Cat's place was already booked up.)
We found a great spot and Cat helped us secure a good price. JJ (Cat's friend) then gave us a tour of the city, pointing out all the great places to eat and visit.
Cat and JJ went over and above the call as Airbnb hosts. We would definitely recommend staying with them if you want someone who cares about your well-being and offers a fantastic atmosphere. Her place in San Blas is right near the historic part of Cusco, and it has a fantastic view. We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay.
Our stay at Cat & JJ's place was tremendous. We were welcomed with open arms and coca tea.
The house is situated out of the hustle and bustle of Plaza de Armas, past San Blas, which my girlfriend and I really appreciated. However, it was an easy walk down the hill if need be, and the walk back up provided good altitude training.
Cat & JJ are fantastic hosts, providing suggestions on where to eat, drink and sights to see close to Cusco.
A highly recommended option for anyone staying in Cusco.
Cat and JJ were amazing hosts, our stay in Cusco would not have been the same without them. They know where all the best places to eat and drink are, especially the chocolate cake at Laggart in San Blas. Very positive people with good energy
The location of this place is perfect, 10 minutes walking from Plaza de armas, 5 minutes from San Blas plaza. The walk uphill is totally worth it once you start enjoying the view of the whole city. Everybody I'm the house are really nice and welcoming. I had a great time.

Hi we are a friendly international house, with people from the UK, Norway, Luxembourg, USA, Japan, Puerto Rico, Australia, etc. My husband and I came from Britain and fell in love with Cusco. We wanted to rent a house and stay here, and when we saw this one we knew that it was the one for us. We spent 2 months bringing up to standard, eg by ripping out the old 'Cusco' electric showers, and fitting brand new and super-hot ones, decorating, and building a kitchen with modern amenities where people who love cooking feel happy. The result is something unique in Cusco, a house where people live because they want a real home, and where people take pride to keep it clean and tidy for us all to use.
We have a variety of interests, but one thing is constant: that we love travelling & meeting people. This is a relaxed & sociable house. You are welcome to join us.
