Description

The space

We can offer you space, privacy, peace and quiet, 100% kiwi experience! local knowledge! proximity to the beach yet a very affordable quality accommodation.

Guest access

You can use your private spa anytime. You may walk through our 8 ha Kiwifruit orchard property or have a guided visit with Fred. You can enjoy this whole country experience freely yet it's only 2 minutes drive to SH2 or to the ocean in the Bay.

Interaction with guests

We show you in when you arrive and make sure you know how to use the spa, TV, washing machine. After that you can have total privacy or share times with us in the Kiwifruit orchard, or even try my Kiwifruit muffins and a cup of tea if we have some spare time. We can always help you choose the best holiday spots to visit in the Bay of Plenty, Waihi Beach, Mount Maunganui, Hot Water Beach, Cathedral Cove, Coromandel and Rotorua, Hauraki rail bike trail, even White Island and Hobbiton. You can take day trips to all these amazing spots from here. Sometimes we might even take you for a bush walk :)

The neighborhood

We have a very quiet country neighbourhood at the end of a no-exit road.
This makes our location ideal to go for short walks, enjoying the local kiwifruit and avocado orchards on the way, the sound of the cicadas in the summer, or even a longer walk/run to the sea in the Bay at Tuapiro Point. A swim at high tide is a treat and so much easier than driving to Waihi Beach. We are also very fortunate to have a gorgeous country Café, only 2 minutes drive from here on the Highway, The Long Table Café.

Getting around

The Cottage is only 2 minutes drive to the main road State Highway 2, but you do need your own car to get around. No public transport here, as we are out in the country. Katikati is 7 minutes drive away, with banks, cafes, supermarkets, lots of antiques and op-shops. The city of Tauranga/Mount Maunganui is 35 minutes. Waihi beach is only 10 minutes drive from here.

Other things to note

Organic fresh fruit and vegetables from our garden will be waiting for you, in season. Complimentary tea and coffee are also supplied.
We have 4 cats, so please drive carefully up the drive way. They are not allowed in the Cottage, but will try to visit from time to time, so be aware just in case ;)

It was a fitting finale of my long trip in NZ. We were so glad that we ended our holiday with the stay at the Kiwi Cottage. The cottage was clean and very comfortable. A few fruit trees were specially planted next to the cottage for guests to pluck them when they were ripe. We were lucky. The fruits were ready for our plucking.

We arrived later than we had anticipated but the hosts greeted us warmly and ensured we were settled in before bidding us goodnight.

Christine is awesome... Though the harvest of the kiwi fruits are completed but we still enjoyed a short trip around the kiwi farm. Christine hospitality is very warm and we love the stay with her. I would come back if I am back travelling in NZ...

Awesome. Had a wonderful time, only wish we could have stayed longer. The fresh fruit and veggies that Christine provided were excellent. She even gave us tips for roadside fruit and veg stands! We enjoyed them, great citrus, avocado, etc, such a pleasant surprise, buy from the stands before you go to the store! We also bought some lovely eggs from her mother in law next door, you can buy all sorts of great food not far from the cottage. She warned us that the wifi might not work well in the evenings, but we did not have any issues. We were able to make voice calls via . without issue. The hot tub is a perfect way to end the day. It was nice to have a perfectly outfitted kitchen with a larger fridge and freezer. Was great to have a washing machine available to use (it's in the garage and worked great, Christine even showed me how to use it!)

We had a very good time at the Kiwifruit Cottage. Christine and Fred are wonderful hosts. It was a peaceful and quiet atmosphere right for a relaxing stay. We enjoyed the cottage and especially that we could have our meals outside, viewing in the green. Also the beds are very comfortable with good mattresses. Christine offered us fresh fruits and vegetables from her farm which we appreciated very much. When ever possible, we would like to visit Christine and Fred again. We highly recommend staying at the Kiwifruit Cottage.

I am French with a Kiwi husband and 3 beautiful children. I have lived in New Zealand 25 years now and I just want everyone to see how beautiful, friendly and amazing this country is. Plus we are so blessed to live in one of the most popular tourist area in the North Island, we have an organic kiwifruit orchard, we grow organic fruit and vegetables, I love to cook fresh healthy food, so why not share this experience with the rest of the world!!! When we do travel, we go back to France to visit my family, so it's great to meet people from other countries here at home :)
