About this listing
This small house is in the artisan cottages area near Grand Canal Dock - an easy walk to the city centre. It was updated in 2002 to include 2 bathrooms, and 3 small bedrooms. It has comfortable, modern furnishings, and underfloor heating throughout.
This recently renovated/modernised cottage in the Grand Canal Dock area provides 3 bedrooms and a sofabed in the lounge room to easily accommodate 6 people (or up to 8 if there are 2 in each bed + the sofabed). There are two full bathrooms (shower/toilet/sink), and a large, modern kitchen with a family dining table. The whole house has underfloor heating that stays on 24 hours to keep you perfectly warm and cosy during your stay.
There is one main bedroom upstairs with a double bed plus two small dormer-style bedrooms, both with semi-double beds. The lounge room can be made into an additional bedroom with a very nice BoConcept sofabed - the room is open to the kitchen, but is closed off to the hallway. All linens and towels are provided, as is basic kitchenware. There is a dishwasher, washer and dryer. There is also high-speed wireless internet.
There is a Eurospar market in the neighbourhood, and the Beggars Bush area to the south is just five minutes walk, and has a number of excellent cafes and pubs. To the north is the Grand Canal dock area with the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, a supermarket, and many popular waterside restaurants. Merrion Square and Trinity College are a 15-20 minute walk. Grafton Street or Temple Bar are a 25 minute walk.
South Dock Street Park is at the end of the street, and ideal for kids.
Grand Canal Dock DART station is just 350 metres away.
This is a beautiful home steeped in history. Built in 1895, it was one of the original workman's cottages housing employees of Bolands Flour Mill. The mill stopped production in 2001, leaving the neighbourhood quiet and peaceful, and ideally located right in Dublin 4, in the part closest to the city centre.
The house is not occupied by anyone but you during your stay.
Grand Canal Dock is a vibrant, international area (home of all the biggest high-tech multinationals), with excellent waterfront cafes, pubs, the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, and much more. It's an easy walk 20-25 minutes to the city centre (Temple Bar) to the west, or going east you can reach the parks and beaches of Sandymount in about the same time.
Taxis are easily accessed any time around the corner on Barrow Street.
Grand Canal Dock DART station is a 3-minute walk from the house. Buses to the city or Sandymount are also a 3-minute walk away. Dublin Bikes opened new stations in the area in 2014.
No smoking is allowed in the house. Parking may be available if organised with sufficient notice before your stay. Please clarify if you are bringing a pet so arrangements can be made.
The townhouse was very cute. It was within 2-3 km of everything we needed and only a 9-12 euro cab ride, except the airport which was 30 euro. I think we could have gotten there easily via public transportation, but we got in late. Well maintained, had some extras like electric converters which was very nice. Jim and Health were very responsive to my questions and seem very nice.
Had a really great stay in Ringsend! I was in Dublin with my family and it was just perfect for us!
Great set up indoors - very clean and much more spacious than we had expected!
It was lovely for us to be able to walk into town from the cottage. And just a short stroll to the dart and bus stops too.
We had lots of lovely meals out in the local bars and cafe's too where everyone was very friendly.
Would recommend to all!
The house is cute - looks much smaller on the outside than it is on the inside. The listing had everything we needed and Jim and Heath were very good with communication. We really enjoyed our stay here.
I think they may have had a miscommunication with their cleaner so we arrived to lots of towels and sheets drying downstairs and upstairs but they had them removed as soon as we mentioned it. The reason we mentioned it to them is because there's really not enough room to comfortably move around and deal with your luggage if there's a huge drying rack in the kitchen. The listing has three bedrooms but if you did have all bedrooms occupied and had more than a carry on bag, you'd need to store your luggage downstairs. We only used the upstairs shower but the pressure and temperature were great.
Jim and Heaths home is so very cute!! It's easy to operate and comfortable. The beds are very comfortable with some feather pillows which was so nice. We turned the couch into a bed which allowed our family to lounge and rest while watching TV and surfing the web. There was always parking right in front of the home. The local grocery ( a block away by the Google building ) has everything you need and more. The kitchen has everything you need including a little coffee pod machine, which was great!! We replaced anything we used ( honey & coffee pods) There is everything you need within a couple blocks including bike rentals and a park for kids ...just need to get out and look. We had friends that's stayed in down town and were disappointed in the price and accommodations of a high-in hotel. The cozy cottage is so fantastic for your money and being comfortable. The hosts had great communication and were available for any questions. I would recommend the cozy cottage to anyone wanting to stay in Dublin!! It's a home away from home:)
Great experience in Dublin thanks to wonderful accommodation. The cottage is centrally located, right near DART and walking distance to many areas of interest. Lovely place with everything you might need for a stay. Jim and Heath provided great communication as well. Highly recommend!
We spent for nights at Jim and Heath's house. Everything was perfect. the house is very cosy, with comfortable beds, everything was as described and we had everything we needed. The house is 5 minutes away from the dart station, and 25 /30 minutes away from the city center on foot.
We enjoyed our stay at Jim and Heath's cozy cottage. They were excellent at communicating and answered any of our questions quickly. The cottage had ample space for our family of six adults. It was an easy walk into the city centre and had 2 grocery stores close by which we went to daily to pick up food for our dinner. The airport shuttle dropped us off approximately a 15 minute walk from the cottage. We did not go to local pubs as we stayed in for game nights however there were local pubs close by. The cozy cottage more than met our needs and we would happily stay again if back in Dublin and would encourage others to stay there as well. It is located in a quiet neighbourhood which suited us perfectly. Many thanks go out to Jim and Heath for warmly welcoming us to their home.

About the Host, Jim And Heath
We (Jim and Heath) are university lecturers and we share our time between Tokyo and Dublin. In Dublin, we have a 3 bedroom home, very comfortable, quiet, and in the city center. This cottage house has underfloor heating throughout so it is very warm and cosy. We let the house out whenever we are away. We have already hosted a number of excellent guests since moving into the house in December 2013. In Tokyo we have a very comfortable, quiet apartment in the city center. We have let out our home while we are away since moving to Tokyo in 2004. We are homeowners and permanent residents, and we take very good care of our homes. We love both Dublin and Tokyo and we are happy to help out travelers looking for a great deal on a comfortable home away from home.
