This circular wooden structure is covered by waterproof canvas that creates a nice and cosy space inside. It was constructed using organic materials like hazel poles from our local woodlands, cotton canvas and woven rope.

Crann Óg is nestled between two native Irish woodlands and a stones throw from the mysterious Gort river, which disappears underground and re-appears seven times on it's way to Dunguaire Castle in Kinvarra. We are 9km from the town of Gort and a 45 minutes drive away from Galway city and the town of Ennis. Crann Óg is well situated for excursions to the Burren national park, the Cliffs of Moher, Coole Park, Kilmacduagh Monastery and Thoor Ballyle.
Waste - Creative ways to recycle are encouraged and demonstrated, we have systems in place for waste management.
Water use - we harvest rain water and have a supply of beautiful fresh clean well water and are mindful of how to make best use of this resource.
Noise - The natural silence that surrounds Crann Óg is a great resource to be enjoyed and respected by all so late nights are fine with respectful awareness of neighbours and other beings who also inhabit the area. Please don’t use any amplified music sources on the farm or in the woodlands.
Compost toilets - We have dry toilets with simple instructions for use.
INCREDIBLE space perfect for relaxation and quiet. Really great to meet Flor, Merle and the others on the form. The yurt was beautifully crafted and kept us warm and cozy. Really impressive facilities beyond what was described- especially the compost. A must for nature lovers, hikers, and/or those who appreciate learning. Sad we missed the planned nature walk, but hope to return again soon. *only warning is to my wheelchair using friends that compost toilets are up about six stairs.
Amazing place to stay! We booked two nights in the yurt! our 3 year old daughter was amazed by the animals especially mini the dog riding on the back of one of the ponies! Such a nice place, very safe for kids to wonder round, with a connected forest to explore. There are plenty of shops and things to do in the surrounding area! Highly recommend it, we will be back with friends in tow!
Even though the weather was a little unkind we had a wonderful time at Crann Ogg. Flor was straight out to greet us on arrival and we even got the pleasure of meeting ginger the dog and her adorable puppies! The yurt was dry, warm and cosy and situated in a beautiful field with stunning views. We were really impressed with the work that had gone into creating all the different self built structures and the fact that it is 100% eco friendly. The compost toilets were so clean and easy to use and Flor's "peddle tap" invention was awesome! Flor and Marian are great hosts that provide a magical retreat where you can really relax and enjoy the peace and quite of the outdoors.
Well, where to start!? What a joy, beautiful surroundings for a beautiful place! Some clever and interesting alternative creations to assist in every day activities! A little hard to find but don't be put off by the dead end sign.... Keep going! The yurt was very cosy and cooking facilities were great, even though a fox stole our sausages ha ha!
Flor and his wife has been amazing hosts.
From the first moment I opened knocked on the door they welcomed me with a smile and a warm.
The Yurt was amazing - exactly as describe, and in the middle of nowhere which was perfect for a relaxing holiday.
Definitely a listing worth coming back to!
Nice yurt in peaceful surroundings. Sheeps and horses included. Little bit hard to find, but got instructions via sms. Nice and kind stay without electricity and internet connection. Maybe can be found near Flor's house. Eco tourism 5*
