plus a well-cookware-stocked shared kitchen.
(Yes, coffee pot included and a Cafe 1 block away!)

~The Neighborhood elaboration:
The Rose City Park neighborhood is a sweet one, adjacent or near to the Beaumont-Wilshire/Fremont Street, Alameda, Hollywood, Alberta Arts and Cully areas.
A clear day stroll a few blocks southeast of this porch brings you to the ridge of city owned Rose City Golf Course and a beautiful view of Mount Hood!

Very comfortable, safe, tasty (walking distance food, pubs, jazz, all convenient! Great neighbors, vibe) neighborhood close enough to all "quadrants" of our fair Rose City to be a handy central point for sampling the nuances of all Portland's flavorful pockets.

Easy Public transportation (tri-met bus) access just a half block away. Hollywood Max station a ten-minute stroll (unless you stop to sample beer from the brew pub en route i.e. Laurelwood Public House, Moon and Sixpence Pub, Gustav's or any of the dozens of restaurants, shops and markets along the way... NE Sandy Blvd, NE Fremont Avenue and NE Alberta Street are replete!).

Interaction with Guests

If we are all around at the same time, I enjoy conversation and would love to offer tips on your adventure if you need them. If not, no sweat- I assume most who come here are fairly autonomous, independent travelers...as has been the predominant case in the past!
Essentially: choose your own adventure!
If I am out of town, I will usually let you know in advance, but if you really are hankering for a sit down conversation with me, do let me know and we'll try to connect our schedules while you're here.

  • Leo and her house are simply magnificent. There is really no better word. She is a perfect airbnb host: friendly, warm, and as ready to help as you need. Her home is a dream, and I highly recommend her place to anyone wanting a great place to stay with true Portland artistic flair!

    April 2014
  • I loved my stay at Leo's warm, cozy home! She made sure I had everything I needed including an herbal treatment for my sore throat. I enjoyed several quiet nights at her house away from the chaos of my kid-packed friends' house nearby. What I'll remember most of all is Leo's sweet and welcoming spirit.

    November 2012
  • Staying with Leo is a salve for the soul! Words can't really describe my experience... Leo knows pretty much everyone you'd want to know in Portland, knows what nights you can find specific activities in town (important to a music addict like me) and is a cross between your wise old friend with priceless insights, your party buddy for all-night dancing and karaoke-ing, and your sister who can always be counted on for hugs, tea, jokes and stories. Leo's a musician, an artist, an entrepreneur, a kickass gardener, and a wordplay pro!

Leo's home is filled with character and warmth as well, with historical architectural accents, but super modern touches as well (the sexiest dryer I've ever used, and heated tile floor, anyone?). There are a million things to read, examine, and appreciate. Her tea collection is intoxicating, as is her healthful take on adult beverages ;)

I stayed in the smaller of two rooms upstairs -- the other is an enormous suite -- and enjoyed privacy even when other guests were present. It was nice and bright in the morning regardless of the weather.

Before I even arrived, Leo warmly invited me to a casual party at her friends' place. To a person, everyone was as awesome as she'd said -- witty, open, funny, welcoming-- and it was the perfect beginning to a great trip as a solo traveler.

One cold night spent with Leo and her boyfriend in front of her cozy, crackling, wood-burning stove, hot drinks, and some amazing old soul vinyl recordings will forever be on my top 10 life moments list. I hope to visit again!

  • Nothing like being greeted with big Leo/Portland hugs. Leo's surroundings were filled with Far East momentos but her charm, effervescence, joy of life and talent are endearing memories. Wish we could become neighbs. Our experience far surpassed the typical expectations. Everything was five stars plus.....

    October 2012
  • I'd like to join the chorus of praise for Leo & her house. Leo felt like a friend, the place felt like home, and I thoroughly enjoyed the neighborhood and some of the people that dropped by while I was there as well.

    October 2012
  • Leo is the kind of person you want to meet when traveling. She made me feel at home and inspired me with her infectious energy and warmth. I felt that she had a good feel for the pulse of Portland and I would've liked to have picked her brain more than I had the opportunity to.

Not only is she amazing but her abode was a good base for this weekend trip. It is well situated near public transit but still quiet when it was time to sleep. I was thoroughly charmed by her kitchen, fruit and vegetable garden, and eclectic living room. The downstairs toilet is cute and noteworthy but I'll leave it at that. Be sure to borrow her bikes because Portland is for biking.

    I would stay here again.

  • I'm so looking forward to stay with Leo again in a few weeks! It's my first experience with airbnb and it couldn't have been a lovelier one. I felt at home - I can be such a homebody that this really means a lot. I felt welcome and welcomed in from the first email and the first step onto the porch. (Actually, Leo came down the street to greet me.) I enjoyed fixing food for myself and the peaceful atmosphere to have meals either inside or out on the porch. Leo truly lives her explanation of the meaning of life and I totally agree with her. Simply lovely!

    September 2012
  • So fun! We booked both rooms upstairs and it was perfect. Leo is so sweet and funny.

    September 2012
  • Leo was a good host with great recommendations. She made Portland feel very home-y.

    September 2012
  • Leo is an incredible host; helpful, friendly, funny, witty, warm, delightful!!! Great communication - easygoing... We thoroughly enjoyed staying at her place, riding around Portland on her fabulous vintage bikes, and sleeping in a vintage palace - cozy comfort, in a great neighborhood. This is a great find! I would highly recommend staying here to anyone! And Leo, next time I come back, I want the big room in the back! :) Best to you always! Bees

About
Howdy Do! Big Fan of people here, glad to meet and have at least brief interactions and cerebral interludes with the whole sh'bang and gamut of characters this planet provides. Travel feeds me well. Another way to get that vitamin supplement from life in the times between travelings is to be part of another's adventure in some small way. Hence, my own fondness for travel and the moments of feeling at home in the most remote stretches of the world is what brings me to AirBnB. I have warm, inviting space to spare, as well as energy and ideas about this pretty city that I dug so much I had to buy a little plot in it for myself and to SHARE with YOU! Portland is beautiful. I hope to make your travel far more enjoyable with a relaxing home base to replenish in between forays into the wild fray! I do a little work from the home a couple days a week, but it ought never interfere with your autonomous fun having whilst here. Let me know if I can help you with anything. Personally~ I'm an easy-moving, joyful, well-adjusted, silly critter, musician, painter, cook, writerly sort, interested in health and wholeness, Chinese herbal medicine (the eternal study continues!) and Acupuncture. I'm a traveler, an explorer, innate documentarian and story gatherer. I'm handy, oft DIY-style, prefer repurposing and re-using things and building materials in my projects. I appreciate, to the point of deep reverence, the natural world's offerings and feel compelled to protect it with conscious consumption and recycling etc. I love clever design, architecture and texture in living/ working/ growing spaces as well. Fond of dirt, making food and flora in it. Plenty to do in the loosely sketched canvas that a new piece of land provides. If it suits your fancy, feel free to join me gardening during your stay. It's always fun to putter about in the yard with folks! See you soon, with any luck! -Leo PS~ Incase you've wondered: I think I've got a good lead on what the meaning of life is. Wanna hear it? To Give Exchange and Explore Loving Energy as Earnestly, Thoroughly and Frequently as Possible is Why We are Here. Feels about right to me, so I figure we may as well move about the cabin in kindness, gathering recipes, hugs, soul food, stories and songs along the way!
