Description

The Space

*Private bedroom
in a lovely, soulful, owner-occupied Craftsman home.
A happy and peaceful feeling place.

If this listing is booked~ please give a look to the 2 additional spaces in the same gorgeous house and book away!
I'd love to host you!;
Whether or not you are a traveling couple, you might find my other listing vastly more roomy for a mere $5 more : https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/449461 and it's in the same house!
As is this private apartment/sep.entrance, bath, kitchen, living space, bedroom option 3!:
https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/686643
Or this one here is a great cozy budget option!

Great NE location* near public transit, airport (5min+/-) and major arterials with easy access to many flavorful neighborhoods---great food, music and Portland culture abounds.
As a long time member of international travel organizations, Couch surfing and Hospitality club (search for "Soulvolt" there for more references), your hostess is well-prepared to ensure your stay is enjoyable.

ALL walks of folk are welcome to make temporary home here.
Cultural celebration assured.
Come play house in Portland, see if you Love it like we do!?

About the digs:
*Your room has a small closet, north and east- facing windows, side table, lamps and a comfy full-sized bed with pillow-top mattress.

*There is an adjacent bathroom with clawfoot tub/shower for your use and occasionally lightly shared with us and if there's another guest staying on the main floor (there's also an upstairs bathroom with shower, as a back up), plus a well-cookware-stocked shared kitchen.
(Yes, coffee pots herein and a supreme Cafe called Case Study 1 block away and next door to a bake shop, chocolate shop, bike shops, food pod court, hair salons, etc..)

*We may have a spare ol' cruiser bike or two to loan you if you desire.
(Just lock 'em up right 'n tight to avoid the unmentionable!)

~The Neighborhood elaboration:
The Rose City Park neighborhood is a sweet one, adjacent or near to the Beaumont-Wilshire/Fremont Street, Alameda, Hollywood, Alberta Arts and Cully areas.
A clear day stroll a few blocks southeast of this porch brings you to the beautiful greenspace of (city owned) Rose City Golf Course and a beautiful view of Mount Hood! Park, tennis courts

Very comfortable, safe, tasty (walking distance food, pubs, jazz, all convenient! Great neighbors, vibe) neighborhood close enough to all "quadrants" of our fair Rose City to be a handy central point for sampling the nuances of all Portland's flavorful pockets.

Easy Public transportation (tri-met bus) access just a half block away. Hollywood Max station a ten-minute stroll (unless you stop to sample beer from the brew pub en route or any of the dozens of restaurants, shops and markets along the way... NE Sandy Blvd, NE Fremont Avenue and NE Alberta Street are replete!).

Interaction with Guests

If we are all around at the same time, I enjoy conversation and would love to offer tips on your adventure if you need them. If not, no sweat- I assume most who come here are fairly autonomous, independent (URL HIDDEN) has been the predominant case in the past!
Essentially: choose your own adventure!
If I am out of town, I will usually let you know in advance, but if you really are hankering for a sit down conversation with me, do let me know and we'll try to connect our schedules while you're here.

The Neighborhood

~The Neighborhood elaboration:
The Rose City Park neighborhood is a sweet one, adjacent or near to the Beaumont-Wilshire/Fremont Street, Alameda, Hollywood, Alberta Arts and Cully areas.
A clear day stroll a few blocks southeast of this porch brings you to the ridge of city owned Rose City Golf Course and a beautiful view of Mount Hood!

Easy Public transportation (tri-met bus) access just a half block away. Hollywood Max station a ten-minute stroll (unless you stop to sample beer from the brew pub en route i.e. BTU, Laurelwood Public House, Moon and Sixpence Pub, Gustav's or any of the dozens of restaurants, shops and markets along the way... NE Sandy Blvd, NE Fremont Avenue and NE Alberta Street are replete!).

House Rules

Rules? Not many hard fast rules here, beyond non-smoking. There are preferences though:

A preference:
Please be generally wonderful, open-minded and easy-going.
We do well with that flavor of traveler and shall endeavor to mirror it back to you nine-fold.

Please have a socially responsible mindset and modus operandi (recycle, minimize footprint and resource usage etc.) and be willing to play along with our Perfume/cologne-free-ness in the house during your visit.
(My long French Nostrils are to blame for this, forgive my people! ;)
Please Be Shoe Free once indoors.

Guests must be at least 18 years of age and have a state issued ID or passport to check in.
We'll give you your key and the internet password info when you arrive.
Please be kind and freely communicate if anything needs attention during your stay.

Try to keep a mellow tone in the 10pm-9am range, please.
Acoustic music only (please don't pack your Marshall stack). Feel free to gently pluck at my guitars around the joint (if you rock too hard and snap a string you have a fun excuse to go to nearby Trade Up Music on Alberta avenue to be tempted by their storeful of awesome)!

Please perform basic Kitchen and dish/utensil clean up yourself after use and certainly before check out to avoid additional cleaning expense to be potentially taken from deposit ($20-40 at host's discretion). Fairly mellow on this really, just a courtesy guideline.
You supply food and it's assumed cooks know how to effectively use and care for cast iron, stainless steel, and nonstick cookware, though please don't hesitate to ask if unsure!
Plenty of hooks for hanging damp towels.

Be Smokey the Bear~
This house is old and full of lovely woodwork and craftsmanship.
Let's work together to keep its integrity upright 'n standing:
Avoid fire dangers, no burning candles out of fireproof containers nor near flammable materials, nor to be left unattended. Ever.
Best to avoid the incense burning too (next guests may have sensitivities or allergies).
Responsible use of Careful candle to set the romantic mood sounds lovely and appetizing! Coasters and Trivets abound for main floor table protection.

Please refrain from cigarette, pipe and cigar smoking in the flat. Same for illegal drug usage.

Animal Guests~
Quiet-'n-sweet, well-trained, dog pals are welcomed in the lower apartment suite with pet deposit if you plan to bring them along for upwards of 80% of your city adventures (i.e please don't leave pets behind in the flat for more than a couple hours at a time, if at all). Currently unable to host them in the above two floors (to keep dander allergens to a minimum for future guests.

Pet Owner assumes liability for any and all incidents their dog may be part of.
That said, Portland LOVES their dogs, and probably already Loves yours too!
[pet neglectors, aggressive and/or anxious barking types of dog are not a good fit here, but there are many nearby doggie daycare and overnight pet lodging businesses... inquire within].
