About This Listing
This apartment in the West Rogers Park (or West Ridge) neighborhood of Chicago is spacious, clean, quiet, and above all, safe.
As an additional potential perk, this apartment is toddler and child friendly! See full description for details. Thanks!
Hi there traveler.
Thanks for considering staying in this quiet, low-key area of Chicago. The West Ridge neighborhood is a safe, spacious, vibrant area that would help make your trip comfortable and easy.
I am a short walk to Devon Ave, which hosts the city's widest array of Indian cuisine, so if that is something that you're interested in, you'll find amazing dinners a stone's throw away.
The apartment is itself is spacious and very private feeling, as this is the top floor of a two flat with just two other people living in the building in the downstairs unit. The room available to you is spacious, cozy, and purposely simple. This room is just off the kitchen, which is open for you to use to cook and to store your own food.
There is a reliable air conditioner for the summer months, and toasty, reliable heat in the apartment for winter time.
There is one cat in the house, and while she is totally anti-social, she is also perfectly harmless, and best admired from afar.
You will have your private room, and you are welcome to use the kitchen to cook and store food in. There is a back yard you can hang out in, and if you smoke, you can indulge back there, just not in the house.
The wireless internet is reliable and available to you. The network is "belkin.d10" and the password is ba844b43.
Parking on my block and further south is permit free, however, on Campbell NORTH of my apartment's block does have permit restrictions.
The living room has a TV which you are free to use. I rarely watch it, but you are welcome to browse my netflix account if you want to relax after another awesome day in Chicago.
I have fresh hot coffee available every morning by 8:15 a.m. which you are always welcome to, and if you see fruit by the coffee maker, feel free to help yourself to that as well.
Interaction with Guests
I do live in the master bedroom in this apartment, so to reiterate, this is a shared apartment. I'm happy to chat and offer advice on the city and places to go/see, but I'm not nosy by any means. And, truth is, I know you're probably busy with your itinerary, and I'm also busy with working days (I work weekends too) so we don't have to become instant travel buddies. I almost always need to leave by 8:30 a.m. on days that I have people staying with me. I'm very respectful of people who want to wind down in peace and quiet.
I love that my neighborhood is so quiet and low-key. I understand you'll probably want to visit places like Wicker Park, but I can't understand wanting to live there. Just too much traffic!
We are pretty close to the illustrious Loyola University just east of us in Rogers Park.
I'm also close to Evanston, so perhaps if you're involved with Northwestern University for your stay, this would be a good match (outside of actually staying in Evanston).
I think I already mentioned my proximity to Indian food. Yep. I live two blocks from the best in the city.
Parking around here is very easy. You might wind up parking as much as two blocks away if you return after 10 pm, but this isn't a big deal, as I mentioned, this neighborhood is very safe. Parking on my block is usually easy to find, but be careful, parking on Campbell NORTH of my house does have permit restrictions.
Otherwise we are close to a couple major bus routes that can get you where you need to go or they can get you to the El train, which provides you with even more swift, reliable transport through the city.
Not much to say outside of common sense. Bringing undeclared guests is not welcomed. We don't mind having a beer with you, and I don't mind how much you party outside of the house, but upon returning, peace and quiet is expected. I have no preference at all how late you choose to stay out, but I usually work in the morning.
I arrived late and left early the next day, but Peter's private room was ideal for my visit to Chicago.
I tried to use the AC unit in the room but found that it actually heated the room instead, so if you are staying in the summer just use the fan.
This is outside of Peter's control but the neighbors have a deck right outside the window and they got into a verbal fight that lasted until 1 AM and it kept me awake.
He responds very quickly to questions via texting. The apartment is clean. I would recommend this listing to anyone looking for a quick stay in Chicago at this price point.
Peter's place was good. I stayed there only 1 night and didnt get to communicate with him in person, but he is very responsive and he provided clear guidance of how to enter appartment etc. The room is comfortable and warm
Peter responded to my request very quickly and was very accommodating about arrival time. When I arrived, everything was ready to go... perfect for the weary traveler! The apartment is quite lovely and very clean. Terrific location if you want to be further away from the downtown craziness.
Had a nice stay at Peter's house in a quiet, safe neighborhood. Morning coffee was good. Also enjoyed an Indian restaurant nearby, thx for the tip!

About the Host, Peter
Hi there. My name is Peter. I'm getting back into sharing my home on this site after taking a couple years off. I have to offer one cozy, clean, private bedroom in my spacious, sunny three bedroom apartment in the West Ridge neighborhood in Chicago. My place is safe, secure, and welcoming. The room has a super comfortable queen size bed.
My house is baby and toddler friendly. My twin girls stay with me half the week, that's why half my calendar is blocked as not available. As such, this is a suitable place for all; even those with kids!
I've traveled all over the world and I know the appeal of affordable accommodation, so I'm offering up my house on this lovely little website.
I'm into making music, riding motorbikes, and hoping to find time to get back into woodworking.
I'm a pretty easy going person, I love living drama free more than anything, so I hope you will feel welcome and comfortable when entering my home for a couple days or so. I'm all for giving advice about my city should you want to hear it. If you're just in town for business, I'm equally happy leaving you to relax and wind down uninterrupted.
